    I used to be in the 74th scouts spent many years up there seen some crazy things sometimes you think it’s your mind playing tricks but it’s not my uncle used to run the scouts there used to be over 20 of us sometimes at summer camps we used to have a full size snooker table and have tournaments great memories would love to go back up

    Very nice and looked like a lot of fun! Awesome place for an overnighter, you could almost smell the history of that place. The mist and rain definitely added character to this adventure. Thank you for sharing!

      +MuddyTigerOutdoors Thanks Jacko, the place is rich in history and some of the guys have seen and heard unusual things, a woman screaming, ghosts walking around the camp and Trevors tent footage has strange orb like objects moving around so is definitely a place to visit if you believe in the paranormal. I had a great time at willow bog cottage with you and the other guys, you done a smashing job of recording the trip considering the near on constant rain. I'll give you the special award for most amount of video gear carried, you certainly suffer for your art on that hike.
    Gj looking fwd to next one.

    • @Fell_Wanderer
      @Fell_Wanderer  Před 8 lety +1

      +Chippa Fate I had a great time, felt like I'd known you all for years as we got along so well. I carried some extra gear I never used and felt like a pack horse. I had a camera cage to attach lights and other acessories to which weighed half a kilo and other gopro stuff, a selfie stick as well as the tripod I always carry, loads of spare batteries which didnt get used because the rain stopped me filming more. My main camera was fogged up by morning so ended up just using the gopro which is all weather but audio is shite cause its in the waterproof case. In the end we only have the footage we shot but felt I'd captured most of what I'd liked to. If the sky was clear would have liked to have recorded nightlapse as there is no light polution up Kielder. Your new camera takes a nice pic and will comment on your channel rather than mention here. I hope we go again soon as it was a good night. ATB, Damian.

    It's what I like about you and your channel your open minded you don't rule out bigfoot UFOs the paranormal etc. There are strange things in this world and unless you go out to these places in the wilderness in countryside you will never have the chance to encounter them.

      +Steves Outdoors NE I do prefer a bivy and tarp and I know a good pyramid pitch but not keen on using a pole as the tarp material is thin and dont want to risk holing it. just bought a polish lavvu for winter hill camping and although heavy, its old school and a clever design of two ponchos, I love it. Another brill and excellent quality video m8t love your laid back attitude . The sound track alone cracked me up as well as the banter between everyone .there are too many people on CZcams acting far to serious about a fun pastime .Liking the tarp and bivvy setup .takes a bit of balls to lie out in all weathers so exposed to the elements . Nearly as tough as me born in Middlesbrough and dragged up in Glasgow glamping for me is a woolly hat and my Spider-Man pants in a field in -5 easy meat . Lol.Anyway enough bull crap keep em coming m8t oh and would love to see another haunted pitch/camp done . Stab

      +Fergs uK saw that preview last night of you getting cut off on that island with flash floods, looked a bit dodgy to me, hoped you found decent ground and shelter. Them Luxe Hexpeaks are nice and would have one but couldnt justify paying out for a tent i might only use 1 time a year as I will always bivy first unless the weather is too bad. May get a polish lavvu for the occassional winter wildcamp but that probably wouldnt get used much either. ATB, Damian

      Fell Wanderer That island was the morning after a dodgy night hah. My vid is up now so you can see and hear the storm. Scared the hell outta me. I've been thinking about a Lavvu for ages myself as well to be honest. I wan't to get up to Kielder in the winter for a real good snowy camp. Might have to sort something out. I wild camped once before I got a hammock and I swore I wouldnt ground dwell again. I love my hammock but something about laying on the deck and staring at the stars brings out a primal side of me. I want a clear starry sky with a foot of snow on the ground. I'd be in heaven!

    Damien, Your tarp loops need stitching up so there is only a small gap for the ridge line to feed through. I have the same tarp and they have about 4 inches of loop which means loads of movement, so it will still flap around no matter how tight your ridge line is.

    • @Fell_Wanderer
      @Fell_Wanderer  Před 8 lety +1

    great video as ever, nice to see some Luxe hexpeaks in action :)..i got a question about yr go-Pro mount, do u find the chest rig gives a better "view" than head mounted set-up?

    • @Fell_Wanderer
      @Fell_Wanderer  Před 8 lety

      +Wandering Jay both mounts will give the same field of view its just that the chest mount will only be recording facing forward and seeing less wheras the head mounted camera will be moving around more and very shaky but sees exactly what you are seeing. I guess it depends on the situation, if I'm filming just infront then the chesty is great, I think the chest mount is more useful to me for bushcraft and is less conspicious but the head mount has its uses as another POV, like for rock climbing where you may want to capture everything where you are looking and arent able to hold a second camera for obvious reasons. In a nutshell both mounts have their uses and depends on what you want to film and what angles you want to capture

    • @Fell_Wanderer
      @Fell_Wanderer  Před 8 lety

      +Woodsman ocD86 Thanks Marcus, I've seen some videos on youtube on how to do the pyramid/tepee style tarp, its a good setup in bad weather, wish i had a tree over me, could have hung a guyline down to the centre point, not keen on putting a centre pole in as the tarp material is lightweight and dont want to risk ripping it. tents go against my minimal ways but if I had to have one it would be a polish lavvu, not lightweight but inexpensive. ive got a one man tent but its like being in a coffin so prefer the freedom of a bivy and tarp lol.. I’m copying and pasting this reply to every vid on this matter. I literally hadn’t thought about this shit until I found my neckerchief whilst sorting my mam’s loft out and was talking about Malcolm’s ghost stories when he used to take us away with the scouts of Silver Lonen.
    Sorry to kill this whole lore but I have to make a confession here. Basically, our scout group was from Silver Lonen in Newcastle. Our scout leader Malcolm Landreth (I think that’s how it was spelt, it’s been about 24 years) he would rent out this cottage at weekends. This exact narrative the fella in the other vids about the bridges and reavers etc is what I wrote in a completely fabricated article on TheShadowLands about 20 years ago. I can’t believe I’ve caused all this nonsense 🤣

    I'd like to know what warp speed he used to get to the location, and if the cameraman was fine down between his legs? When they met up, you'll have noticed how they all shook each other's hand, and then instantly forgetting whose hand they had shook, they went for another round, just to be sure no one had been missed. Unfortunately, the next segment of the video contained a lot of Geordie talk, but the translator was held up by being asleep in his home. Hopefully, an English transcript of what was said will be forthcoming in the near future? The one with the mammaries was quite animated as he regaled the motley crew of his experiences in a sort of..."Hey, I got knowledge and I insist on unloading it on you all!" kind of way.

      Hi mate,the tent itself is very good in wind etc. The bedroom is wide but small and tight for me and I am 6ft tall and use a 5cm mat. The vestibule is large and good for bad weather cooking. You need to carry walking poles or buy the specific pole for the tent. Another down side is the amount of pegs needed ....up to 20 in strong winds or just 6 in calm. As a motorcycle rider myself I would say it's good but.....depends on your size. It is just over 1.2kg. Without the inner it is vast!
      Hope this helps a little?

      I've camped at Harwood forest and recorded strange animal sounds, heard wood knocks and tree breaks in the early hours of the morning when no one else is around. Have heard wood knock responses to my knocks which I've captured on camera and uploaded which is on one of my previous videos. Seen strange tree breaks in the shape of a "W" and was too thick to be broken by a person, seen 2 possible footprints which were around 16" in length, they are in earlier videos and have seen other strange stuff like sheep remains in the forest too deep to have just wandered off as there was no grass in there for to graze and found wool/skin up a tree so all this is a mystery to me. Had a farm worker tell me the other day about a 7 foot tall figure seen in the farm yard and threw a hammer at him in the shed while checking the lambs, he has had corn, chickens, sheep and tools go missing only to find the tools later scattered around. He has invited me to the area to have a look so think he's sincere as doesn't want the attention or be identified but wanted to tell someone his story. So there are some strange things going on around Harwood forest
