this author definitely really liked/internalized that one season of the Vampire Diaries where Bonnie and Damon were stuck in that weird parallel world.

@chhristina the show producers actually wanted them to end up together, that's why their chemistry was so good in that season. Elena and Stefan were supposed to be endgame as well. But then Nina decided to leave the show, so the producers didn't have time to develop the whole plot line Elena-falls-in-love-with-Stefan-again so they had to go with plan B.
Something has been missing in my life, and it turns out it was Cari's continued coverage of Crave. Praise be to the booktube gods 🙌

The one thing I'm thankful for from this series is that it introduced me to Lewis Capaldi, and I'm going to see him in concert at the end of April. Thank you, Crave series. I'm so sucked into this I have to finish it 😂

1-4 are in the "so bad its good" genre for me. I hated Charm, it was boring, too long, and theres no tension because we already know Grace & Hudson will be fine & she will fall back in love with him.

The whole series feels like a parody of the genre, yet it still ends up taking enough twists and turns that I end up surprised, but that makes it harder to keep track of everything the farther it goes lol

this is the video that got me to stop trusting goodreads ratings because this book has a higher goodreads rating than the picture of dorian gray
To be fair, this book is #5 of the series, so majority of the people who are reading it, presumably liked the first 4 books so they’re going to rate book 5 accordingly. This is true for any series, the sequels are mostly read by people who enjoyed the first few books and therefore will be biased as they’re the target audience.
Another thing to keep in mind, that books like Crave are mostly picked up to read by people who are interested in the tropes. Someone who’s not interested in paranormal young adult urban fantasy isn’t going to pick Crave as a book to read. So the readers are comparing it to other books of similar genre that they normally enjoy. On the other hand, classics like The Picture of Dorian Gray are often assigned to be read by people who don’t even like the genre, so they’re not going to like the book and the rating will be more representative of general population’s opinion vs niche target audience opinion.
So while in the general population, more people will likely like the picture of Dorian gray, from the people who were going to read Charm, the majority of them was going to like it as the target audience is so specific and not representative of general population.
I somehow enjoyed this while reading it but now that you mention the plot and everything that happens, I’m like “wtf was I thinking? 😂” These books are truly ridiculous but comforting in a way lmao.

As someone who very much loves these books I can’t imagine actually reading them with my eyeballs. Ugh The books are so unnecessarily long I would absolutely fall asleep and never finish them. That being said I do listen on audible every day and these are all fun and funny and not emotionally draining. Like a good bad movie.
