God that gauntlet achievement cost me HOURS. I swear, beating the game on it's hardest difficulty is easier then getting the "Becomes The Master" achievement.

Something that should be mentioned. Frag boosting had been done before multiple times in gauntlet runs within the Apex canon.
However, they were only done in simulated runs. Octane got inspired by one of these runs and was the first person to be crazy enough to do a frag boost irl.
Not only does this imply that cashmayo inspired Octane's origins, but there's a very good chance that cashmayo themself is canon in the Apex/Titanfall universe.
If i'm not wrong octane IS cashmayo because in the ship scene in season 3 we can see octane playing gauntlet ans its the cashmayo record run on the screen

Bro the titanfall 2 gauntlet was probably the greatest tutorial in any game ever. I literally got the game Christmas Day and played the gauntlet for like 8 hours straight because it was so fun.
EA and respawn would get more money and players if they’d listen to their fandom.

Octane is both slower and weaker than a rookie pilot
Because they wear jump kits, military grade landing packs, octane literally just has 2 metal sticks, a trampoline and worse stims to get all that speed
@cris ortiz octane has the highest dose of stim available literally killing himself octane also has a jumpkit so
@@leerking4571 yes, his literally drains his HP, but pilots have access to a higher grade stim, or a more potent dose. They aren't killed by it due to the only pilots being able to use them are simulacrums, like ashe.
I wish more devs had this kind of humor and relationship with their players.

One thing to note is that most gauntlets are performed in simulations - that's why fragboosts work in them. Octane must have thought they'd work in a real gauntlet as well.

Im pertty sure the Gauntlet is in a simulation. That would mean that Octane found a replica of the Gauntlet or maybe a course similar to the Gauntlet and actually did the run in person resulting in the loss of his legs. If he did the Gauntlet we did in Titanfall 2, then it would be impossible for him to be maimed as the Gauntlet as far as i know only exists in a simulation.
That might also mean that Octane was part of or associated with the Frontier Militia.
And to add lore to titanfall and apex legends, cooper (jack)’s titan got to the floor but one of the guy did invited cooper to apex legends but I dunno if he accepted or declined

i always forget they take place in the same universe and are made by the same company so when i saw the grenade icon in the gauntlet gameplay i was like “why is the apex grenade icon there”
The movement craziness was inspired by a Titanfall 2 player that invented grenade boosting as a mechanic. Devs were so amazed they made it part of the octane character
Octane the typa person to have to have family guy and subway surfers and the same time just to watch a single thing
I remember them having Game sager as the first because he set the fastest record at the very start
You got it wrong, the gauntlet is not a competition, it was a VR pilot training program thus Octane was never a competitor, he was inspired to go fast because he heard of the gauntlet trials (probably through spying on his dad, who had connections with major factions) that pilots had to go through and he built his own version of the gauntlet, after seeing pilots would use frag boost in VR he tried it on himself irl and got blown off. even in the universe, stim was already a part of titanfall and the WR that cashmayo held at the time was the inspiration for octane.

i like to think that the reason he beat the time by 0.3 seconds is because blowing his legs off shaved off a lot of weight and gave him the boost necessary for the time
