Borderlands 3 did this again.
A fan had a terminal illness (I think cancer) and asked if he could learn the Borderlands 3 storyline, since he wouldn't make it till release.
He was not just allowed that, he was allowed to play the game, as far as it had been completed and also to design his own legendary weapon. They named it Trevornator in the fans honor.

One of the gamer moments that I hold close to me was the passing of Commander Zavala's voice actor, Lance Reddick. That week hit me hard.
The millions of guardians standing to salute Zavala was beautiful, truly an honorable sendoff for a beloved man
When Lance Redick passed away. A bunch of players stood guard to offer their respect to Zavala, the character he voiced with such care.
I still have pictures of dozens of us solemnly standing in salute, lining the sides of the tower leading to Zavala... RiP Lance

We couldn't fit too many people at a time into each instance of the Tower, but when Lance Reddick (who voiced Commander Zavala) passed away, thousands of guardians went to sit by his character in game.
Rest in peace, Commander. You are missed.
Final Fantasy XIV's tributes to fallen actor Stephen Critchlow was the most tear jerker. He was the voice actor for Count Edmont de Fortemps. In the game his son is the reason why the Warrior Of Light survived and would later become the savior to bring dragon and man together. There was also the contribution to Kentaro Miura, the creator of Berserk, it was confirmed his work for Berserk is what inspired the Dark Knight class in FFXIV. So as a tribute everyone could be seen standing outside Uldah, Gridania, Limsa Lominsa, and Ishgard as Dark Knights all with campfires out in front of them.
Another thing with the TechnoBlade passing is whenever you Google his name, a message shows that says 'Did you mean, "technoblade never dies" '

The last one reminds me of one that happened around Easter this… with Lance Reddick. When he passed away, guardians, even those who hadn’t played Destiny 2 in a while, all gathered around the character he voiced, Commander Zavala, and used the emotes to either sit around him, go crazy and have fun like he would wanted players to have or straight recreate a military ceremony.
He was not only very invested in the community, a good example is him voicing the “Excuse me” meme, but he was also a D2 player and played the game the night before his passing.
He also voiced one of my favorite characters in the horizon games, Sylens. He was so cool, and it sucks that he had to go.
I did the same thing. I had started to drift from the game, but when I heard what happened, I logged in and sat with Zavala for a bit…..
Yeah for that whole week everyone wore vanguard emblems. It was touching
That's so sweet
As an ex crayon eater I always will respect and remember lance
Gaming does not make people violent, it brings people together
This kind of stuff is common, even with devs honouring other devs. For example Rockstar has a spot to honour someone in both GTA 5 and RDR2, in GTA 5 you can find a graveyard in Los Santos with a small path that leads to a hillside with a bench in the middle. This bench has a plaque on it honouring a developer who died during the making of GTA 5. In RDR2, the original actor for the character Uncle passed away during the early stages of development, and as tribute a lake in the game was named after him (O'Creagh lake).
When the person dies, their cancer dies too. Techno didn't lose, he went down with a tie.

Lance riddicks tribute in destiny was amazing and was so touching, may our commander REST IN PEACE
i don't know or watch these CZcamsrs but seeing their legacy will forever immortalized into their favorite games just make me wanna cry
One that really hits home is what happened to destiny when lance reddick died. He was the voice for commander zavala who is one of the main characters and one of the most beloved ones at that. When Lance sadly passed from natural causes there was a flood of destiny players who went to the place where the character he played was and kneeled to the point where there were entire servers doing just that. This is crazy bc the members of the d2 community hate on eachother for the dumbest shit yet all of them were united to pay respects to such a great person. RIP Lance. Fly high.
You know your loved and respected when your passing causes hundreds of thousands of trolls who hate each other to unite in a moment of solidarity.
Getting the Internet to agree on anything, much less the quality of a person's character is like being acknowledged by the infinite void
Lance will always be a legend
I was one of the many people to go kneel where Zavala is in the Tower. God, his death hurt, especially as a Titan main myself.
I was one of the players to attend that i cried my step dad who plays a titan also joined me
The ones I saw saluted on either side of him. I wasnt too connected to him like I was with Techno but I paid my respects like I was looking at a great warrior either way.

The one thing that warmed my heart most was the honoring of Lord Zahvalah in Destiny 2 when Lance Reddick passed away
Let's not forget about Rick May, the voice actor for the soldier in Team Fortress 2 who passed away in 2020 because of COVID. The community made various memorial videos and Valve put statues of the Soldier in certain maps. My childhood was TF2 and thus Rick May is too.
"You were good son, real good, maybe even the best." RIP Rick May (1940-2020)
Adding to this, many players would pick Soldier and on many maps such as 2Fort, fire rockets into the sky or perform his shotgun salute taunt
“That was a hell of a campaign, son.”
He was included in the first 3 heartbreaking gaming tributes.
They did a similar thing in Brawl Stars when Colt's voice actor lost his battle to cancer
I literally cry every time I hear “you were good son, real good, maybe even the best”… it’s just such a massive part of my life at thi point. Thanks Rick for all you did for us.

A great one is Rick May the voice actor of the soldier from Team Fortress 2.
Following his death hordes of people flooded servers to salute and honor his death. The developers (regardless of the few remaining) also added an update to one of the maps with a statue of the soldier dedicated to Rick May’s passing.
Fun fact, this happens every year in April, and they're spread across several maps.
It's not uncommon to see everyone drop their backpacks and do nothing but twenty-one gun salute the statues for the entire round

There was an extremely well known CZcamsr in the WoW community named Reckful, a Rogue. He was a guy I’d been watching ever since he started making content, as I was all in on Rogue PvP ever since I started playing almost 2 decades ago. A few years ago he lost his battle against depression and left us behind. To commemorate his passing and pay tribute to his impact on the WoW community as a whole, they made a Rogue Trainer with the exact appearance and name of his character within the Cathedral of Light in the city of Stormwind, the most player-populated city since the creation of the game

He didn't lose the fight, he brought cancer down with him
Cancer isn’t a being. Techno dying didn’t stop or slow anything down. He lost badly 🤷♂️
@@Stando-Userman stfu first of all technoblade wasnt using 100% of te power he had cuz if he just did a lil break then boom cancer gets killed technoblade wins neg diff
@@Stando-User He probably just means that when he died alot of people started donating to cancer
Sadly no he didn't. He died to it, and cancer still kills many.
@@Stando-Userare you a kid or someone with low iq?
While it isn’t a tribute to a player, the Soldier statues added to several TF2 maps after Rick May died will always stay with me as a beautiful tribute to an icon of the game.
Warframe has the best community
And getting together to his funeral...
Big respect
I had no idea gun guy from Borderlands 2 was a tribute to someone who passed away but gun guy has always been my favorite character in Borderlands 2 and this is just made him even more of my favorite character especially knowing that he's a tribute to a to a person that loved the game so much just like I did.
I knew he did but I've also somehow just never come across him in game
That damn achievement it's the only one left and I can never fucking find this guy.
If I’m being100% with you I didn’t know about him being in this game in general, but still glad they added him
Also pretty shocking how claptrap himself made a heartwarming speech! (I think idk I gotta find the video)
