Blood on the Rasp: Gewehr 41(W) Restoration Ep. 4, "Laminated Blank"

In Episode 4, Andy comes to terms with the limitations of the stock front end he bought on ebay and decides to make his own. First he designs and laminates a blank from thin pieces of Beech wood, just like the Germans did in WW2.

Any progress? This vids are awesome! I was about to buy that repro stock - they have many positive opinions, but now im gonna need to rethink that. What was wrong with it? Did the action fit inside, and the outside dimensions were fked up, or everything in general is crap?

Everything was wrong with the Ebay solid beech stock. I mean everything. The action would not fit without extensive hand fitting. The exterior metal would not fit without extensive hand-fitting. The stock was overall 10% too big. I left a review on the item and the seller asked for me to remove my review. I asked for a refund, and he never replied.
