    Maidana could not hit Mayweather. Why do people overlook this? You can't win if you are not landing punches.

    • @jeffreyd700

      That was out of 800 punches dude. Mayweather threw half as many and landed the ones that mattered.

      ***** percentages don't mean shit. You can throw 10 punches and land 6 and that's 60% and the opponent can throw 100 punches and land 40 and that's only 40% but who's the real winner here?

    • @silverfox2372
      @silverfox2372 Před 10 lety

      Carlos Colmenares You are right Carlos, but Mayweather did only throw 6 punches. He threw almost has many as Maidana, and landed more... So you statement does really hold water. Arm punches don't win a boxing match...

    • @richardr7
      @richardr7 Před 10 lety

      Carlos Colmenares percentage wouldn't mean shit if that was the case but the fact that he still landed more punches than maidana is what makes percentage count! like you said "you can throw 10 punches & land 6 and thats 60%" BUT if you throw 100 but land less than the other guys 6. YOU AINT SHIT!

      I think its funny how people talk about a sport and someone decides to start name calling. I can guarantee you WOULD NOT say any of that face to face. You internet tuff guys make me laugh. Keep it to the topic. If you want to make it personal, come on down to my gym and we can deal with it man to man instead of the net.

    This guy in nearly 40 and still unifying weight divisions. When Flyd fought Shane Mosley, Shane was 38 and people were calling Shane old although he had just ko'd Margarito. Floyd is 37 going on 38 and he has a competitive fight and ppl are jumping all over him. Its a testament to how great Floyd is. These haters give him his props without even knowing they are doing it.

    I have had plenty of criticism for Mayweather in the past, but I also believe in being fair and giving credit where it is due. In this particular case I admired how he stood in there and engaged, and I also agree with nearly everything he said about the fight afterward. Both inside the ring and out, one of Floyd's best nights, IMO.

  • @raulcitraro

    Mayweather won the fight, he said before the fight that he was going to stand and fight Maidana and make it exciting and that is exactly what happened, be it on purpose or because the relentless pressure Maidana applied gave "Money" no choice. Kudos to Maidana for giving such a tough fight but Mayweather scored clean and effective punches. He was more accurate.

    I still find it pretty amazing that Floyd is competing in a high level at nearly 38 year old. Robert Garcia is the same age as Mayweather and he was done quick as fighter, now he is a trainer.
    Threw out Mayweathers career weve seen how Floyd has beaten boxers that have a 20 pound advantage. Its basically like a handicap boxing match. Mayweather fights them all weighing only 146-148. MAIDANA in this case weighed 165 pounds and Canelo weighed 166 on fight night. Imagine Maidana fighting at the same weight mayweather did 148. He would have no power weighing 147 flat or even 150.

      @jomana4517 Před 10 lety

      Oscar situation was different, it was not a day before the fight that Oscar made Floyd change gloves. Plus lots of people hate floyd not because he is black but he is a racist, woman beater and a cheating hit run hold repeat fighter.

    • @shyshotcaller27
      @shyshotcaller27 Před 10 lety +3

      Emanuel Pacquiao How was the situation different with Oscar? It doesn't matter if it was a week or an hour before the fight. The fact is Oscar was the top fighter at the time and Floyd had to adhere to Oscar's request. Now Floyd is the top fighter. He has the say so over a lot in HIS fights. That includes drug testing, gloves, and everything else that he has power over. Fabian didn't say anything about people hating Floyd. He said that black people support Floyd simply because he's black and that's not true. That's why I said people like who they like. You're not on the subject we're on.

    116-112 for Floyd Mayweather. Marcos Maidana basically won the first half of the fight. Floyd made adjustments, accurate counter punching, hard body shots, ring generalship. However Maidana still made it a physical fight down the stretch but began missing way to many punches didn't do enough to win but great fight.

  • @gabrielabasolo
    @gabrielabasolo Před 10 lety +14

    @ Maidana Fans : he landed punches on mayweathers arms, elbows and back shoulders. And he definately landed bunches of punches on back of mayweathers "HEAD" which is not legal. Maidana low blowed Mayweather 2 times on purpose, tried to hit mayweather with his Knee, and even tackeled Mayweather to the ground like if it was wrestling/MMA.
    Clearly Maidana was a dirty fighter, yet the dumb casual fans say Maidana won LOL
    FACTS ARE : Mayweather threw less punches with a higher punch/land ratio. LANDED the Clean clear shots. And thats why Mayweather won.
    MAIDANA LOST WITH ALL HIS DIRTY TACTICS, AND HE WAS CAUGHT TRYING TO USE GLOVES WITH NO PADDING, TO GIVE MORE DAMAGE TO HIS ADVANTAGE. LAME!

    Maidana didn't even hurt mayweather. It looked like he was throwing punches hoping one hay maker would land. Yet once again mayweathers defense held up very well. You could tell Maidana was getting tired by the later rounds and may took advantage and became more offensive. The way I see it, Maidana had nothing to lose. May picked his shots and did the whole "rope a dope" on Maidana. Overall it was a very good fight. Give Maidana credit for going out there and throwing down. Unlike Canelo who didn't put up much of a fight.

    FLOYD MAYWEATHER PUTS HIS "PREFECT RECORD" ON THE LINE AND GOES "TOE" TO "TOE" WITH "CHINO" MAIDANA AND "DOMINATES" HIM IN A "SLUG FEST" THAT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY!
    Floyd goes toe to toe with "Chino" Maidana who is a "brawler" type of "pressure" fighter who style is to come forward while throwing "unrelentless" overhand head shots from awkward angles.
    This fight was a PPV treat for the "real" boxing fan enthusiast who likes a good brawl with non-stop action from the opening bell to the closing bell.
    This fight with "Chino" Maidana was more "competitive" than the Castillo 1 & 2 fights and was on the same level as the Cotto fight "except" for a few "dirty" tactics from Chino that escape the referee attention.
    This fight was "down" played by a few sport fans and Manny Pacquaio supports who wrote the fight off from the very beginning.
    The fact of reality is that every "real" boxing fan enthusiast, sports writer and analysis knew it was going to be a tought "competitive" fight for Floyd because of "Chino" Maidana "unrelentless" fighting style that would give Floyd Mayweather some "serious" problems even though they picked Floyd to win.
    The "ONLY" ones that are waking up this morning and saying that they are so "shocked" and never thought this fight would be so "competitive" are the "bias" and mostly "hating" supporters of Manny Pacquaio that would NEVER give Mr Mayweather his due credit anyway because they are basically "envious" and "brainless" sport fans who "don't know SHIT about boxing" to begin with... Or the business side thereof.
    I thought Chino Maidana did exactly what he was supposed to do eventhough It took Mr Mayweather just a little bit longer to make the "adjustment" to Maidana.
    People who are "delusional" and "illogical" because of their personal "hatred" towards Mr Mayweather don't realize that those "sick" adjustments that Mr Mayweather can make inside the ring during a fight is "exactly" what makes Mr Mayweather so great.
    If that's the reason why these "groupie" part-time "bias" boxing fans and personal "haters" of Mr Mayweather are yelling Floyd looked like he might have lost a step or two and yada, yada, yada...
    Well... to be honest with you... That's expected from these "haters" and I am not at least one bit surprised!
    At the end of the day... Mr Mayweather still got the "W" and that's all that matters.
    FMJ... Now..."46“-0-0 & Still counting... TBE... PERIOD! :)

    What people don't seem to understand about scoring a fight is that punch stats reset every single round. No matter how you saw the fight, the TOTAL stats don't mean shit. It's round by rounds stats that matter. This is the huge difference between both fighters in this fight; the rounds Miadana won, Maidana simply won (except round 1 and 5 was dominated); the rounds Mayweather won, Mayweather dominated. That being said, Maidana won more rounds, statistically speaking. My personal opinion is Maidana won rounds 1-6, and round 8. Mayweather dominated rounds 7, 9, 10, 11 and 12.
    7-5 for Maidana.

    If mayweather picks Maidana rematch, people will complain that Mayweather didn't pick Pac, Bradley,Canelo, Lara or Khan.
    If Mayweather picks Pacqui and beats his ass, people will complain that mayweather didn't take more sufficient punching machine Maidana.
    If Mayweather picks Canelo or Lara, people will complain that Mayweather didn't pick anybody else, I MEAN COME ON!
    Mayweather is 37, he plans to leave the boxing game in great shape and unbeaten, not old ragady ass and beaten! He won't live 300 years. If Mayweather lived 300 years he would fight every man on the planet capable to reach the elite level in boxing and paper view and have 50 rematches but he only has 2 fights left. TWO! So his options for his future opponents are limited, deal with it! Mayweather has owned since 1996, 18 years, he has 2 fights left, so don't get over the board with this crap about who 'he needs to fight'.
    Mayweather is number one.

  • @MarieLou3M
    @MarieLou3M Před 10 lety +16

    Based on body shots landed and dominance (which the judges didn't care about) instead of a mere 1-2 landed shots on face/head, I gave 7-5 rounds for Maidana. Again it was a close fight, Maidana's only chance to win is a KO or a couple of KDs over Floyd. One judge scored it 114-114 which was about fairly right and the best score that Floyd should have gotten.
    Watch it again in replay and ask yourself 'Who put on a show that entertained you well?' Answer it honestly without bias (forget about the punchers gloves thing and idolizing).
    Maidana should fight Pacquiao next if Floyd does not allow Maidana to use his blue custom punchers gloves in a rematch. He probably will make over $3M compared to a shameful $1.5M from Mayweather.
    Showtime commentators suck as they often misled the viewers to justify that Floyd was winning the rounds.

But he was missing and Floyd was accurate . As far as entertained ... Explain to me what was entertaining to you ? I enjoy watching boxing ... I enjoyed each boxer for the difference they bring to boxing . Mayweather is great and he breaks fighters down . I like that . Sometimes a knockout isn't what I want to see . Boxing isn't about knockout is about out boxing .

      Shawn Carter Floyd's fight against Canelo was entertaining b/c he dominated Canelo in most rounds and made him felt frustrated. At Maidana's fight Floyd was not dominant and not agressive enough except in 3-5 rounds the most, and Maidana made him felt frustrated at times.

    The most amazing thing to me is that Mayweather doesn't lie. He tells you all to your faces exactly what his intentions were and what he's doing, and you still all get duped. He did what he had to do to sell this fight. He even tells you how overrated he's aware his opponent was, and how he used that to his advantage through the help of the media. He admits, as I've been saying, that Cotto and Canelo, are better fighters and harder hitters. And what do you all do. You take it as denial and sell yourselves into a rematch, where exactly what Mayweather says will happen. Then you all cry months down the line about mismatch long after it happens and could have been avoided. It's like watching someone tell you they're going to rob you, then doing it. I'm not going to sympathize with stupidity like that.

      He gave you brawler fans what ya'll wanted to see. He didn't "dominate" him because people would say he "ran" the whole fight and didn't fight like a a man. Real boxing fans know, its called "stick and move," not running. Mayweather could've easily beat this MMA fighter but he wanted to make it exciting. Thats why he kept leaning on the ropes letting Maidana throw flurries giving the illusion that it was a tough fight. Floyd couldve easily stayed in the middle of the ring and countered him to death, but that would be boring right?

    • @ultradevon04
      @ultradevon04 Před 10 lety

      I am always entertained when Floyd can hit with out being hit by using his slick skill. With that being said, He missed Maidana more than he has ever missed any other fighter and he was hit more times in the fight than any other fight before. He preaches about how his health and counting his money is important and then he so called gives fans (what they want to see) a brawl with one of the hardest punchers in the class for the sake of entertaining them. That my friend, is a logical contradiction. Maidana's rugged pressure was simply effective early on. Floyd adjusted but those body shots and over hands did some damage. If they rematch and Floyd does not win at least 9 rounds, your thesis is complete bullshit. You could see he was disappointed in himself after this fight. He was disappointed in himself after the fight with Cotto. He used the same excuse with Cotto too. If it is your intention to fight this way, you shouldn't be disappointed about it, this leads me to believe he is full of shit.

    Lol at the crying and the excuse making. Floyd said before the fight that he was going to do something different. He clearly did something different in the first 5 rounds, where 3 of them he clearly was getting his ass beat, but then decided he wasn't going to win by going off his game plan. He adjusted and went back to his style of fighting and dominated. Okay, Floyd still landed more and threw fewer those first 5 rounds, so who won those, is all subjective. If they fight again, I guarantee, Floyd will fight his normal fight. THIS IS BOXING. If you guys want to see a brawl, there's MMA. The object is to inflict the most damage while getting hit the least. It's not a slug fest, though many fans like that style of fighting. Sluggers end up punch drunk when they retire, and can't comfortably spend their money. Look at Ali.

The first 5, yes, he lost, but I tend to believe him when he said he was just putting on a show. Regardless, Floyd won everything after 5. Even if you give the 12th to Maidana, it's possible that 2 of the first 5 rounds could have gone either way. I gave those 2 close rounds to Maidana for the sake of argument. It would have been a mistake for Maidana to go in there and try to box Maywheather because he would have gotten abused. The best thing to do is to fight a rough fight, which is what he did. Maywheather didnt fight like this for the fans, he was forced into this type of fight by Maidana. In the end, Floyd did win. You can win round 1 by connnecting 100 more punches (let's say 120 and your opponent 20), then lose rounds 2 and 3 with your opponent connecting 10 and you connecting 9 ... and guess what? You lose the fight 2 rounds to 1 though you connected with more punches for the entire fight (120 + 9 + 9 = 138 vs 20 + 10 + 10 =40 ... you sure dominated the stats, but you lose the fight!).

      Agreed! Watching the fight live I thought Mayweather was up by maybe 2 rounds. But watching it again.. This dude was up by at least 4 or 5 rounds. The beginning was a bit rough but as usual Mayweather adjusts and wins the rounds easily.

    Floyd is a coward and isn't no TBE. He's a joke and has no right to talk mess. I don't believe anything Floyd is saying. Marcos punked Floyd around the ring. I scored it a draw or 7 round to 6 for Mayweather. The man would lose to Pacman from what I saw from Floyd. Anyway, just retire man, you're ruining the sport more and more with your weak excuses, crying, and never fighting the best.

    • @Blake472
      @Blake472 Před 10 lety +2

      I honestly don't think he had the legs to hit and run like you said because Maidana dogged him to the body. Pacman has this guy's number. I'm telling you and Phony Boy Floyd knows it.

    If floyd played his normal hit& run Game maidana wouldn't even be on the score sheet if you watch Mayweather you know he almost never steps forward and actually fights a guy But the reason he did that was because he underestimated maidana which proved to be a bad move because he got dominated in the first 5 rounds.

    • @jokatech
      @jokatech Před 10 lety +1

      Wow. You think he did that because he underestimated him? Wow. It's called selling a fight, and selling a rematch. He won't have to pick a tough opponent, because he can keep fooling you with inferior ones.

    • @doms360spinna
      @doms360spinna Před 10 lety

      Floyd won't take a rematch that easy, money talks best believe they better come with more than 32 mil if they wanna fight him again. And yes i think Floyd underestimated him a little

      The region of the brain responsible for analysis and reason is becoming like the appendix. It's like you've all lost that ability, and are incapable of developing it. That's the only way you can you look at Maidana's pathetic skill level, and actually reason that it was a rough fight because Floyd underestimated him. These are the same people preaching that Maidana is the greatest fighter Mayweather ever faced. I don't even know where to begin with stupidity like that.

    • @darkmankjb
      @darkmankjb Před 10 lety +1

      That is true he didn't do enough to show that he overwhelm the champion you have to really beat any champion who has the belt and I mean dominate because no one is going to give the win over a big name champion period and his dirty fighting did miss Floyds mind up. All fighter who fight start fighting dirty when they notice that they can't win. He hasn't made anyone pay since the Ortiz fight for tactics like that.

    You can tell Mayweather is very quick-witted. Maidana gave it his best, I don't think he can do better than this. Mayweather has a lot more quality, can easily adjust and is much stronger mentally. Good fight all round, but the best man won. TBE!

    How can you hate Mayweather after this fight, honestly it was very close and could have went either way, but you could see that he struggled during the beginning and outboxed him in the later rounds. The adjustments he made won him the fight. And he's right when he says that the fans got bored of seeing him dominate with his defense. This fight showed that he isn't all defense and that he is a true champion.

  • @KaramAbdallah_
    @KaramAbdallah_ Před 10 lety +2

    and just like the first Castillo fight, it took Mayweather 5-6 rounds to figure him out, but once thats done, the master of control takes over the fight, The rematch will only be easier for Floyd just like the second Castillo fight was, if today was a 15 round fight, maidana's face wouldn't be that pretty believe me

  • @andsam
    @andsam Před 10 lety +1
