  • I made another video showing my Nakto fashion folding ebike.. I show you how to unfold it, put the battery on and take it for a ride.
    The fashion is a nice, affordable (comparatively) ebike that has been pretty solid for me over 3.5 months.

    I also have a Nakto Fashion and I absolutely love it. So far, it has exceeded my expectations. I've gotten as much as 23 miles on a single charge and it will easily maintain 18 - 20 mph on a relatively flat surface. Aside from a flat tire shortly after putting it on the road, I've had no problems with it. If I had to guess (I bought a wireless computer, but I think because of the distance between the sensor and the computer it did not work properly), I've put a couple hundred miles on it. I actually just ordered a Cateye computer just like the one in your video. Thank you for doing this video; you represented the bike very well.

    • @ray-jh8zl
      @ray-jh8zl  Před 5 lety

      No problem! I'm glad it was helpful. I think you'll like that Cateye--the sensor on the wheel is just a magnet, so there is only one battery which is on the computer. But, so far, the bike is holding up well for me. I have over 300 miles on it. I've replaced the front brake pads a few times, but I ride on alot of hills. I take it easy on the rear brakes because I don't know how to change those pads offhand (I could look around for how to do it, or take it to a bike shop...eventually I'll need to do that). One thing is for sure though, I wish this bike, at this price, came with some shock absorbers. Its a pretty rough ride on bumpy road.

      That's a GREAT idea! I'll probably let the ones I have now wear a little more, then look for something like that. Those tires look like they would help alot -- its a safety thing too. Sometimes I've hit a series of bumps and almost lost control because the bike is bumping around so much with the current setup. Tires that can take the bumps better would be pretty sweet (and worth the $$).

    Hi, I was wondering if iy will be good for me a 14 year old kid about 110 pounds, and just wanna ride it on the boardwalk and around my neighborhood on the streets it looks really fun but I want a honest review because I’m stressing over to but this one or a mountain electric bike, also one more question what’s the highest speed it can go and how long does the battery take to charge can you take the battery out? And how long can you go on a full charge??

    • @ray-jh8zl
      @ray-jh8zl  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Anthony, I think if the mountain bike isn't too much more expensive, I might go with that one if I were you. This bike is a folding bike and if you don't need a smaller bike that folds, you're better off getting one that doesn't. Mountain bikes have shocks and larger tires that add stability. I drive my bike nearly to work and then take it a few miles down the road, this way I can park for free vs. pay for parking. So, I need a bike that I can fold and put in the trunk of my car. You might check out other bikes made by Nakto--they make a green mountain bike which looks pretty cool. I think they are pretty good bikes at a great price. I'd go with an electric bike too, they are just too cool. My bike can go over 15 Mph; I can nearly hit 20Mph on a straight, flat road. If the battery is down, it can take 4 hours or so to charge. I can't comment 100% on how long it takes to charge because I just put it on charge before I go to bed. When I wake up, its charged fully. On straight, flat road I can get about 20 miles of distance on a charge. Of course, that drops ALOT if you're going up hills all the time. Hope that helps! By the way, my friend's son rode my bike with no problem and he's 12. :)

    Do you find it handles ok on dirt paths or how about packed sand at the beach?

    • @ray-jh8zl
      @ray-jh8zl  Před 5 lety +2

      I've never ridden it on the beach, but I have ridden it across some dirt paths and it was ok--kind of clattery and clangy because there are no shocks. You wouldn't want to go really fast because it wouldn't absorb the bumps very well (due to no shocks...) and you could lose control. I'm pretty sure it would be ok on packed sand too because the tires are pretty wide, not like the thin tires you'd find on a road bike. They look more like mountain bike tires width wise; without the big tread.

    NOW ...Where IS the Auxiliary Battery Connection located on this bike?

    • @ray-jh8zl
      @ray-jh8zl  Před 5 lety +2

      None; there is no charging port for a phone, etc. on this bike. You get the main battery and the interface for the battery under the seat/up against the frame and that's it. So far, its been pretty robust. I thought the battery interface would wear out or get loose, etc. over time, but its hanging in there and pretty sturdy.

    • @ray-jh8zl
      @ray-jh8zl  Před 3 lety +1

      Depends. If you're going on flat ground you'll go alot farther than if you have alot of hills. I'd say on a new bike, with a fresh battery charge, good flat road, you'll easily get 20 miles--probably more if you add in some pedaling. I took mine on a bike track and I quit (had to leave..) at 18 miles and I still had battery left. Now, if you have some hills, carry a heavy load, road is rough, you'll get ALOT less. 10 miles...could be less.

      @@flaco1234able I have a feeling you'll get that. On days where you don't ride that many miles, still charge it. I've read where these types of batteries like many more smaller charges than waiting until they are almost dead and charging them. Oh, also, you could invest in a second battery (last time I checked $200)....the price of this bike and a spare battery is still well below alot of ebikes. This way, in between deliveries, you could swap batteries if yours is running low.

    In terms of time how long does the battery last?

    • @ray-jh8zl
      @ray-jh8zl  Před 5 lety +3

      There's ALOT of factors that go into how long the battery will last--hills, how much you weigh, starting/stopping, etc. I took it to a nice flat, smooth bike track and I rode for a little over an hour. There was still some life left in the battery too. But, that life drops off dramatically when you put some hills in the equation. I go up a half mile, pretty steep hill on my ride home from work. I can ride to work (two miles, including going up this big hill after work) three times before I'm starting to worry about running out of battery. I think I could maybe go 4 round trips, but I would hate to run out of battery somewhere in the beginning or middle of this hill. This bike is a beast to pedal with no battery assist.

    • @ray-jh8zl
      @ray-jh8zl  Před 5 lety +3

      Oh, I also wanted to add. This lithium battery has some pretty good longevity--I'm coming up on a year since I bought the bike and the battery really hasn't dropped off all that much. It doesn't last quite as long, but overall, I'm pretty happy with how the battery is holding up. I have almost 700 miles on the bike.

  • @iandr4634
    @iandr4634 Před 4 lety +1

    hi - how's the pedal assist working? some reviews I read said it's hard to catch up since there's only one speed and it's sort of maximum

    • @ray-jh8zl
      @ray-jh8zl  Před 4 lety +2

      I actually don't use pedal assist very much. The only time I really use it is going up hills when I need to take my hand off the throttle to do something (adjust my sunglasses, etc.). But, I know what they mean -- this bike only has 1 level of pedal assist. When you're pedaling and the pedal assist kicks in, its on full throttle. Going up hills, its not a big deal because you usually need to add some pedaling in addition to the full throttle. But, if you're on a nice flat road, with pedal assist and 1 gear, its not long before you're going too fast to pedal and you have to stop pedaling and coast--you can't keep up because the pedals are going too fast. Its much easier turning off pedal assist and using the throttle and pedaling because you get better control of your speed that way.

    ...the Nakto Fashion bike and the Nakto Skylark - absolute crap with single speed that has you going like mad to spin the pedals - maybe ok with a child at 16 inch wheels, but the Skylark [ and much the same with the Fashion ebike ] it is VERY uncomfortable with 2 inch tires - most of the Nakto Ebikes is awesome with 4 inch Fat tires and fold up, and the price is as good as the Rad bike for way less $$$ - once again with a single speed you will be turning the crank as if it is loose and there is no chain....

    • @ray-jh8zl
      @ray-jh8zl  Před 3 lety +1

      Lol! That single speed thing is both what I HATE about this bike (Nakto Fashion) and what I LOVE about this bike. My last two folding bikes (non- e-bikes) had derailluers (6 speeds I think). The first thing to go out of adjustment is that gear shift. I was constantly dealing with the chain coming off, stuck gears, loose shifter cable, the shifter broke off once when I put the bike in my trunk. A single speed = simple. I occasionally tighten the chain and that's all the adjustment it needs. No shifter to break off, no gears to rust. So, you can't pedal this bike very fast, but there is less to adjust. Good and bad. It also needs some shocks....it gets really bouncy on rough road, but again, that adds $$ to the price.

I feel bad always wheeling around doing hardly any work. It would be great if this bike had a way to disengage the motor when you wanted to pedal, kind of like putting your car in neutral.

      @ray-jh8zl  Před 5 lety +2

      Hi, yes, I have been caught in a few pretty serious downpours. It did fine. I really don't think much water can get to the battery--you're sitting right over it and blocking most water. The controller and wires from the battery are pretty well tucked inside the frame. The thing I worry about most are the wires coming from the brakes and the throttle. They are on top and exposed. But, they are wrapped pretty well and in a protective covering that's pretty hard. So, time will tell. The instructions for the bike say the bike is water proof, but not to submerge it in water. I think they are correct there....you have to be careful of large puddles too; you wouldn't want the controller or bottom of the battery box where the connection is made to be submerged.

    Does pedaling recharge the battery?

    • @ray-jh8zl
      @ray-jh8zl  Před 5 lety +1

      That's a good question; people have asked me that. There are some more expensive bikes whose motors can charge the battery both from pedaling and braking (regenerative braking), but this bike does not do that. That would be a nice feature, but, you probably won't find it in this price range. I've heard those types of motors (ones can charge from pedaling and braking) make the bike even harder to pedal if you need to pedal without motor assist. This bike it tough enough to get up a hill without pedaling.
