Everyone is complaining about the noise. Did anyone notice those are counter-rotating props? Think gear box and prop optimization for such a complex setup.
Dammit! Those power lines are hell on airplanes. This is such a common problem too. Often, wherever a town/city has park or public field, tower suspended power lines are likely to be present as well. One perpetuates the other. Because the towers are there, that bit of nearby land is considered "undevelopable" so nobody buys it, and the city ends up owning it. It's these bits of property that commonly end up as the dog pound, city vehicle storage and maintenance facility, fire services training facility, baseball diamonds, soccer fields, and designated RC airplane flight facility. 20+ years ago I lived in northern Virginia, near DC. We only had two fields available to us, unless you wanted to drive 90 minutes. Both of these fields had nearby lines on towers, and both were notorious plane graters. At one of the fields we managed to get involved in the process of the field refurbishment and made some recommendations about laying out the new soccer fields. Ended up running the first three fields parallel to the power lines. This gave us a city maintained flying field that was 400' x 1,200'. We set the pits up on the side of the field closest to the towers. We flew with our backs to the towers and lines. The amount of shredded balsa and foam was reduced to almost nothing. Occasionally (2-3 times a year at most), a glider heading back in from chasing a thermal would have a powerline collision. Because of their lower speed, the gliders would manage to survive about half the time with little or no damage. Unfortunately, the one time it happened to me, it was pretty much catastrophic. I was sure I was low enough to sneak under the lower lines. I was wrong by about 10". Flew under the line and sheared the T-tail smooth off, flush with the top of the fuselage. It pitched down into a vertical dive and was going about 50 mph when it hit the gravel road. Yeah, that was quite the mess to pick up. Gathering shreds of monokote and splinters and shards of balsa out of #3 gravel is tedious, to say th ed least.
Strange sounding electric. I assume there are 2 motors in there creating harmonics you normally don't get with a single motor aircraft? Incredible accomplishment in spite of the devastating loss.
Yup nice job on the takeoff, I do it all the time with my 51, 39, and the 47’s! However, I do it from our flightline, and not standing behind the airplanes. I’ve only seen one RC airplane hit a powerline. And the pilot was on a long approach, and his landing gear snagged the high tension wire. It was pretty cool because it slid down the wire and flipped over and crashed in some thick trees. We had to take a saws all to cut through all the under brush, and snag the bushes to retrieve most of the airplane.
at the end of the day, every model crashes or collects dust. I would rather have an amazing video like that, and a super cool crash like that, then my model collecting dust. How on earth does it fly so smoothly?
That is one of the best-looking but WORST sounding P51's ever.
The rc or the actual plane?
Moral of the story if you can see power lines around, find another area to fly.
Duh

Never seen such a beautiful take off. So sad about the power lines and the accident.
Any time a pilot has to stand on the runway, behind the plane, for takeoff - that's not a good sign.
You know very little about a maiden flight.
@@flycatchful I know that you don't have to stand behind the plane to safely take off.
@@tomsawyer9403 Did you notice the width of the runway. Do you know anything about torque effect. Last but not least this model is a tail draggier.
@@flycatchful Understood. Some guys need a little help. No biggie.
@@tomsawyer9403 and youre not one of them. Seeing to as you dont fly.
As soon as it passed behind the tower, I gasped. Been there. What a beauty she was...

Thank God that we don't need to hear that terrific sound anymore! And no one gets hurt!
I’ve never seen a chrash like that. It was chrazy.
Did the pilot survive?
Depth perception is so tough when you’re flying. And any of that stuff is like a magnet for an RC airplane. Tough deal. Beautiful plane.
Strange sounding electric. I assume there are 2 motors in there creating harmonics you normally don't get with a single motor aircraft? Incredible accomplishment in spite of the devastating loss.
That engine sound is really horrible! 😱 Like at the dentist.
RC planes are the ultimate pole finders. I learned that pretty quick...
Glad you got that on tape.
Everything fallen from the sky has wings.
That was the most beautiful P-51 takeoff I’ve ever seen…totally scale!!!!
Except for the sound 😂

I wanted to see the residue of that bad decision. Always keep blue sky between the objects in the way.
I've done that but with trees suddenly growing in my flight path puzzles me.
That one is in Thunderscreech territory, which comes with the size and weight.
I'd be interested to know about he counter rotating props...
Two models, two light poles. Been there, done that.
Done that 5 times in a Cropduster.
Flying balls to the wall. That’s the only way, man!
This looks like a job for the RCFTSB. And I'm sure they will have a definitive answer quickly. After all, it was a small accident.
Stuff like that are plane magnets.
Lucky to not have flown through the tower! I wouldn't fly at that field with any large model. Might be OK for .40 size and smaller but nothing big.
Hey! That's a full-scale replica of Tom Cruise's P51.
He did not throttle down after hitting the power line.
Lol😂👍
Like the Galloping Ghost crash! 😲😲😲
Hey mate, keep it above the powerlines hey!.
I'm here watching video... "power line, pull up, Powder Line Pull Up, POWER LINE PULL, too late..."
If he had made a more scale like takeoff, the video shot with those reddish clouds would be spectacular!
Good...sounded like crap anyway. Glad no one was killed.
Just like a 190 shot the wing off.
It was beautiful model but it sounded like it was in extreme pain from the moment it started moving.
Beatiful plane
I like that screaming sound, of course I’m deaf but what the heck.
such a shame to lose a great plane that way, thats a big bird needing lots of room, soon as i saw those lines i new what was coming.
Dam that thing is loud but not really moving for the noise it makes...
You flew behind the pylon?! WTF!
SHE WENT DOWN OVER HAMBURG
RIP ☄️

what a gorgeous model.. TRAGEDY --~o
sounds like stuka siren
I like Chrashes
Not to criticize the pilot but my anxiety saw that coming miles away..
I wonder if it occurred to this guy that it was almost dark. Nice airplane...over confident pilot.
"Chrash"?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Hilarious 😆
Хороший самолёт..Был✈️😥
Add RC to your title.
Very ouch . . .
It is spelled crash.
Got her out a bit too far.....
Crash not Chrash
So sad...
Never liked the electric sound of these things.. Gas is the way for me
Same here. I thought realism was part of the goal.
@@tomsawyer9403 those were two counter rotating props. They were true to scale. Go listen to the real deal. Very high pitched sound too.
Awful sounding. For all the noise it made it did not look that fast.
Two counter rotating props will do that
SOQUETE
Ugly noice!
Two counter rotating props will do that
love seeing electrics crash. they should be banned
Click bait so I gave thumbs down
Sounds crap and under powered.
really nice flying model, is that powered by an electric motor?
