- This is video #05 in my playthrough of Super Mario Bros. 3. Mario moves on to World 5, Sky Land. Why is it called Sky Land? We will soon see!
The first part of this world is ground-based. A Tanooki Suit from World 4 will help greatly in Level 5-1.
Mario next tours 5-2 (time index 2:44). There are two ways through this level. I show off the easy way.
The Toad's House next to 5-2 has Tanooki Suits (time index 4:15).
On the other side of the stream, Mario goes through the interesting Level 5-3 (time index 4:44). This stage is interesting because it features the Kuribo's Shoe. Mario can steal one from a Goomba by punching a block underneath it. This shoe will let Mario stomp spiky enemies and walk over Munchers with no problem. Unfortunately, it cannot be taken outside this stage.
Mario next visits Fort 1 (time index 7:18). This level is a little tricky, but at least it is optional.
Next, Mario takes on the two sets of Hammer Bros. here (time index 9:18). One drops a very useful P-Wing, the other a Star Man.
Afterwards, Mario goes through the Sky Tower (time index 10:14). This fortress-like stage is a climb through numerous floors. When Mario emerges at the top, he will be in the clouds! Here is the bulk of Sky Land. As you can guess, most of it is aerial.
Mario first goes through 5-4 (time index 12:01). Very easy with Raccoon or Tanooki powers. Otherwise, it can be a little tough.
He next moves on to 5-5 (time index 13:03). A Tanooki Suit can be found here. Collecting all the coins in this stage will make the White Toad's House appear. This one is worth it, as Mario can get a P-Wing.
Mario next visits 5-6 (time index 15:23). This is one level where you may want to consider using a P-Wing, or you may want to avoid it altogether. Mario must leap across the backs of Para-Beetles.
Then, Mario goes to 5-7 (time index 16:40). Not as hard as the previous aerial stages, but watch out for Micro-Goombas.
After that, Mario visits Fort 2 (time index 18:45). The main hall of the fort will have Podoboos attacking from below and above. Fortunately, Boom-Boom himself is not all that difficult, if you take him out quickly.
Then, Mario visits 5-8 (time index 20:21). This is a short aerial platform-jumping stage with Lakitu harassment. A P-Wing is recommended here.
Next, Mario goes through 5-9 (time index 21:20). This is a stage that auto-scrolls to the upper-right with numerous wooden lifts. Again, a P-Wing is useful here. The two Fire Chomps here are very annoying, but Mario must leap off one of them when the first one runs out of fire to reach one of the lifts.
The Hammer Bros. that I skipped hold a Music Box.
Finally, Mario heads to the castle (time index 22:38). Another Koopaling has been up to his siblings' tricks, so it's time to take him down. This Doomship features a lot of heavy artillery. Near the end, there is a guantlet of sorts with eight normal angled cannons. If you can get on top of this segment, it will help immensely.
At the end, Mario will face the big bully, Roy Koopa (time index 23:58). This guy's stomps make the whole Doomship shake. If Mario is on the ground when Roy lands, he will be frozen briefly, leaving him vulnerable to a scepter attack. Fortunately, Roy doesn't seem able to jump too high.
When the king is restored, he hands over Toadstool's letter. She provides useful information about the next land. A Jugem's Cloud is enclosed.
Thanks for watching!

I love Super Mario Bros 3 this was by far the best Mario game ever made
Those damn flame chomps in world 5-9!😃😡
After watching this video I now realize just how powerful the Tanooki suit is
World 5 is just sooo special as it contains 2 different maps and i like the tower level and the teleport level as well, it’s also cool that level 2 & seven have a sub level and not to forget the karibu shoo in level 3 .
My favorite video game of all time.
This is a prime example of why I prefer Mario 3 over World.
The NES had less power, so 3 relied on level design over more complex theming whereas World had more simple level design with more theming.
Take the Parabeetle level. Simple in theme, but the challenge and level design makes the level extremely memorable.
I would love to see this game remade in a 2D hand-drawn art style like Cuphead with artistic backgrounds. With Advance 4's eReader levels included, of course.
I would unironically pay a full $60 for that game.
You did good with keeping and making use of tanooki Mario. Sky world was my favorite set of levels from SMB 3. I liked how they made 5-6.
My favorite world in my favorite game
Aur bhai kya video calling hai
Mine too.
My favorite game and favorite world in the game.

i've always found ice land to be the most difficult.
Yeah n pipe world is even much more difficult than that 1
i love this game
El mundo 5-1 jugalo con Mario volador. En el tubo por el que entraste arriba hay un truco que tenes que pasar volando agachado para descubrir un cofre. Saludos!
0:12 ooo. Is this land that the mountains having .. .
17:30, theres a 1up in that block to the left
Does anybody else think that the airship levels on this game has way too many cannons, Bullet Bill's and the Monty Moles?
Definitely not. It can’t have too many, or else the game would lag out and potentially crash.
It may only seem like a lot because of how the autoscroll works.
if you go through the pipe and with a p power up through the top you can slide fly to a sleepy melody power up.
cool
Hey Mario how does it feel to stand on a cloud?
How do you turn into that solid rock thing in the tanooki suit in wii??
Maheen Hanif Hold down on the D-pad and press the B button (the same button used for dashing, spinning the tail, and shooting). It makes you briefly invincible.
heorotlinea can it also work for the 3ds?
Gee Morgan Yes.
Anybody remember the cartoon of this ?
Yep
on 18:16 you need to jump crouching first, when you reach the pipe press up..
How u turn into statue I keep on having problems with it
First, you need to be in the Tanooki Suit, which is the fur coat. Press down on the D-pad and press the B button. Mario will temporarily transform into a statue.
😯 tu es jamais mort comment tu te transforme avec l écureuil?
how do you turn in grey stone thing?
You need the Tanooki Suit, the raccoon suit. You can turn into a statue by holding down on the directional pad and pressing the B button. Mario will stay a statue for a short time.
Yo tuve supermario all star en supernintendo entre los años 89 al 98 si😱🤣🙂😄😜😎
5-9 is not my favorite stage.
Is it?
Oh, boy that's a tough one. I'm not sure I have a favorite.
Same
Stefan Brockelbank 1-3, Angry Sun stage, 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4, 2-5, Pyramid, 3-4, 3-8, 4-6, Tower stage, 6-6, 6-9, Silent fortress in Pipe land, tank levels in Dark land, Koopas Castle just to name a few.
