Super Mario Bros. 3 [NES] Playthrough #07, World 7: Pipe Land

- This is video #07 in my playthrough of Super Mario Bros. 3. Time to leave the ice behind and move to the Piranha Plant-infested World 7: Pipe Land. This is also known as the Pipe Maze. Instead of Hammer Bros., there are Piranha Plants on the map.
Mario starts off with Level 7-1. This level is a vertical climb through a maze of pipes.
On the island to the south, Mario goes through Level 7-2 (time index 3:08). To get the coins needed for the White Toad's House, the Frog Suit is required. Mario will need go go underwater, trip a P switch, and collect all the blocks that turned to coins. If you only have one Frog Suit, try not to get hit; Mario will need it soon.
The White Toad's House contains a P-Wing (time index 5:34).
On the southern island to the east, Mario uses a Jugem's Cloud to temporarily skip 7-3 and go straight to 7-4 (time index 6:03). 7-4 is an auto-scrolling underwater stage ... ouch! The Frog Suit makes this stage tolerable, especially while navigating the maze of Jelectros.
Mario next goes to 7-3 (time index 8:15). If he's quick, he can get invincible and stay invicible throughout this stage, which is highly desirable.
Then, Mario goes through 7-5 (time index 9:04). This level is something of an underground maze. There are several invisible coin blocks in this stage, which can block some jumps if you're not careful.
On the north-central island, Mario faces the first Piranha Plant (time index 12:22). There are all manner of Piranha Plants here. At the end, Mario will get a well-deserved P-Wing.
Next, Mario visits Fort 1 (time index 13:34). This fort seems mysteriously abandoned. To get through it, Mario must be able to fly, and fortunately, there is a Tanooki Suit here. The fort's only resident is Boom-Boom at the end.
Mario next visits 7-6 (time index 15:48). This stage is a vertical climb that makes extensive use of arrow lifts. Fortunately, these lifts are not extensively used in the game as a whole.
On the northeast island, Mario goes through 7-7 (time index 18:35). To get through this stage, Mario MUST stay invincible, or those Munchers will chew him up.
Then, Mario visits 7-8 (time index 19:41). This stage is loaded with Piranha Plants of various varieties. Partway through the stage, he can collect a lovely Hammer Suit upgrade! Towards the end, there is a Nipper plant that breathes fire.
Next, Mario visits 7-9 (time index 21:58). This stage is an outdoor pipe maze, and time is a little short here.
After that, Mario goes through Fort 2 (time index 23:35). The first hallway is long and hazardous, and the Hammer Suit will come in handy. It will even take out the otherwise unkillable Dry Bones in the second hall.
Then, Mario goes through the second Piranha Plant stage (time index 26:22). The Muncher plants here can be rough. For finishing this stage, Mario gets access to the castle, as well as ... a Super Mushroom? Really?
Finally, Mario visits the castle (time index 27:42). This king has been transformed, as well, so Mario needs to visit the final Koopaling's Doomship to get it back. As the flagship, the final Doomship does not have any artillery, but it does feature those irritating bolt lifts and difficult jumps.
At the end, Mario faces Bowser's oldest, Ludwig von Koopa (time index 29:57). Like Roy, Ludwig's jumps can cause the ship to quake, stunning Mario if he is on the ground. He can fire twice in a row. Worst of all is the layout of his command center. Try not to get trapped in the dip to the left.
When restored, the eggheaded Pipe Land king will deliver the final letter--which happens to be from the King of the Koopa! Uh oh! He didn't even enclose a gag gift. Time to move on to Bowser's domain.
Thanks for watching!

Super Mario Bros 3 is still the most creative and fun Mario Bros game Nintendo has made
Marco Larrauri 100
It's one of my favorites but the bosses weren't really creative at all that is my one and only complain for the game
@Star Still a great game
Greatest video game of all time.
Something about super Mario, three holds a special place in my heart but I do like super Mario world to be honest
lol at 5:24, I love when Mario jumps away from the goal in the Frog Suit like that.
I really loooove the music of this world
This game had soooo much reggae.
Same Here
That last letter... Pissed me right off... I was like... Bowser I'm coming for that ass!! 😂😂😂
You make me feel like I've been playing the wrong way. I know some secrets but damn, that secret shop? How?
+Dorothy Uranga
The secret shop is unlocked in some of the words by collecting enough coins in a certain stage.
This can also be done in stage 4 in Grass Land, for example - I think you need 44 coins there and the reward is a P-wing.
In area 3 of world 7. It was always tricky to get the stars on time before the star wears out when you’re being timed. But damn you kept up with it the whole time In this area. 😲👌🏼

Had to watch a video on World 7 to get some ideas on my "Return to Pipe Land" world in Mario Maker. I'm blanking.
+Jill's Sandwiches I've been playing Mario 3 on virtual console to get ideas for my levels too lol
It's funny how pipe land is longer than dark land
And WAY harder
Darkland is way harder imo
Nikolai Belinski - Raiden Dark Land is straight forward mostly. Pipe Land has a lot of tricky levels, including the infamous metallic plant sections and the LONGEST SWIMMING LEVEL (and the most frustrating if you don't what to do) in the entire game. In Dark Land, the hardest level is the one at night with the angry sun.
@@TheTrueBro i played through the entire game myself, but i think darkland is the hardest one
Am actually dissappointed that dark land is shorter then world 7 , i just wish it had more levels, no what if dark land had more airships and what if bowser was hiding him self in an airship, that would,ve really scared my socks of as a kid.
13:39 my favorite fort in the entire game
I really enjoyed watching this. Thanks for sharing.
I'm stuck on level 7, so wanted to watch someone plays to get tips! Must I say your bad Ass
The 6 last levels including the castles very hard to pass,in my personal opinión this is the most hard world in the whole game.
Much harder than 8 world
< There's no way I could these level 7 worlds out.
< You level 7 people should watch a movie called 'The Shining.'
I suck at world 7
I forgot about the light-bulb boxes 16:25 Those should have been on subsequent editions.
In the snes version, the piranha plant are a Yoshi
このワールドが一番好きでした。
You are a virtuoso! I love watching these. Thanks for making them.
Thank you!
Your chanel is very reliable to watch and play along with!
FallenLeaves Stuff You meant Coco Chanel or CHANNEL?
@@jaycoleman6552 He obviously meant "channel". Stop being a smartass.
Someone already mentioned it, but the first fort in Pipe World is amazing. The game gives you a chance to rack up 99 lives without any glitches or special moves. Just consistently turn the block room into coins and keep grabbing them until time runs out. You should get a net gain of 3 lives every time
@black hole i guess you are good. The fort gives you a Tanoki suit or raccoon feather, I forgot which, because you need the feather to find the exit pipe to the boss room
Which level on world seven?
@@brittanyrogers8994 it’s the first Fort where the first room is all blocks and you need to find a P switch. If you play it until
The time runs out, you should be able to get up to 5 lives in coins. Just rinse and repeat for 15-20 minutes and you have a crap load of lives to take you through the rest of the game
14:35 I LOVED this castle level as you could rack up coins for extra lives. I think I actually got it to 99 lives one time. You just keep going to that other room and come back to the block room and hit the P button and money money Money Moooooney. Until time runs out then you just do it again.
Yup! It was the perfect reward for playing the game through and also set you up perfectly for world 8
This world is created by the devil himself o.o. However, it has the most creative levels in the entire game.
8:07 look! The area is supposed to look like a pipe! No wonder it is called pipe land...
My favorite world.....pipe land.
#avgn be like "Alright, going through the pipes. Oh wait. Bullshit, what a bunch of fucking bullshit" at 2:09.
30:03 I Love Ludwig's hairdo :)
That was awsome
I just started playing all my games after 20 years. Lebel 6 iS hard. But I Love playing my Games
I use the frog suit for 7-2, too!
Keep in mind that Fort 1 of world 7 can be your unlimited supply of extra lifes if you push the P and repeat it over and over.
How
*lives* 🤣
18:04 ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO GO IN THAT PIPE
Awesome!!!
I like how fitting it is for the king to have been transformed into a Piranha Plant. Also the fact that there are stages literally just Piranha Plants only gives us more reason as to why Piranha Plant is in Super Smash Bros. now.
tanooki is the best but hammer bros suit is the strongest
reymicroc I was thinking about this earlier. It's hard to say. Tanooki in statue form can kill roto discs and the flames on air ships.
Someone is going to remake this in super mario maker 2 even though it was already remade technically in the 3ds version.
world 7 is much harder even than world 8.dont u think so?
O ues
Yes
RAYDENMORTALKOMBAT Yes
I tried this world recently and died swimming in Stage 7-4. But I recall the layout of the next stages, so I must have gotten there in approximately 1991. I was stuck on Sky World at Stage 5-9 today, but I beat it and World 5 completed, so now I’m in World 6 using no warps. World 5-9 is a challenge!!!
Pablo Ruiz Since then, I beat Worlds 6, 7, and 8, and I beat the game for the first time, at age 40. It was challenging, but fun. I feel completely vindicated.
Pablo Ruiz I think the first seriously hard level in Super Mario Bros 3 should be 3-8, instead, although I would agree with 5-9 being kinda harder than world 3-8 and there is no seriously hard level after 3-8 all the way until 5-9!
This is the forest theme for mario 3 in smm2
Except it doesn't have it's own music plus it doesn't even look like a forest
2:06 i died like a million times trying to do that jump
Whoa I played this game ever since I was a kid and I ain't never seen no anchor
IS always good to Go Back to check For Secrets ON games just in case We missed any which I had forgot too 🤪
24:16 nesse 1° bloco ao lado do cano (exatamente aonde você está aí pisando), tem uma estrela.
I played through the entire game once without skipping any levels. World 7 level 7 is the closest I came to having to use a Continue.
Did they change it in a later version? I played through the entire Game Boy Advance version, and I'm sure the blocks gave you a coin instead of a Starman if you hit them after the previous Starman had run out, leaving you unable to continue the level. I can't remember what the original NES version was like.
Ugh this world gives me anxiety 😩
so confused why the dumies on youtube gave these videos a thumbs down ? GREAT WORK u got a sub !
true man ! check out my page if u play modern or retro games !

You too i always watch this vidios to get ideas now i wasnt watching this video for that but i do watch other marioo vidios fo that sometimea.
Codebreak *dummies
Mario goooood
Pipe land seems to have some renanisvents from world 2,but there’re no hammer brothers and just like world 2 there’re no coinships, oddly enough the 2nd fortress in world 4 contains a bonus part wich will give you a glimpse off what world 7 will bring to you.
Pipeland I thought had similarities to Grassland, lots of greenery in both plus they are located next to each other
I just see your excellent gaming(and using pocket-power-ups as eating lunch), and I am thinking of my noob gaming amd stucking.
7-4 is killing me
When is Nintendo gonna add Doors Subworld in Super Mario Maker
They should be called Sub Doors and there should also be an On/ Off Door
Made it here and beat the whole world with 4 lives remaining lol. However I left piranha 1 and fort 2 I got over it with the cloud.Got my ass kicked on 8th world 1st level.
20:54 The hammer suit power up isn't supposed to look like that before you get it. That must be a glitch
Paul Novacek Yeah, it may be a glitch or something to do with the background.
Toad Suit XD
How do you get to the coins in 7-1?
What about the Castle?
You already can't jump on Cheep Cheeps underwater to begin with. So what was the point of a spiny cheep cheep?
They move faster
12:22 #plantgang
26:22 #plantgang
At 15:55 how come u didn’t use a p Wing ?
god i hate this world😂
Ares 2 and 9 should have been in world 2 and area 4 should have been in world 3.
Zenardo Yeah
Sir. I do not appreciate how you play this game. I'm on 1:53 of watching this, and you've almost been bitten by a piranha, and had several very close run-ins with koopa-troopas. This careless display almost cost you your Hammer-bros suit multiple times. I could have died.
so easy
Sloppy play...
