Susquehanna 142 on the Delaware River Railroad. This 1989-built 2-8-2 Mikado puts on a good show on the former Pennsylvania Railroad trackage out of Phillipsburg, NJ. Filmed in November 2011.
We're currently aiming for her to be back in September. I cannot say much, but I can say the big appliances like flues and super heater tubes have been going in over the past few weeks.
The last steam locomotive ever to be built in the 20th century was SY class #1772, which was built in October of 1999 by Tanshang locomotive works. I personally thought of a brand new class of 2-8-2 locomotives for the 21st century that use the SY class designation. I call them SY2, meaning second generation. And unlike their previous SY sisters, they have 56” drivers, 22.5” x 28” cylinders, worthington SA type feedwater heaters and 210 psi boiler pressure. They even feature JS class style step ladders and running boards, as well as cabs and even tenders with enhanced water capacity from 30,000 liters to 37,570 liters. As well as Combined steam and Sand domes like the QJ class 2-10-2s. And unlike their coal burning sisters, The SY2’s are Oil burners.
It went down at the end of the 2017 season. Like most steam rebuilds, there’s always things found that need repair and pandemic delays as well. It sounds like it’ll be running again this year, but nothing confirmed yet.
There was a video of this steam locomotive which was filmed a long time ago and edited first puting in the intro music with some types of locomotives and then putting the beggining credits at 0:44 and i think putting the end credits also, did someone has it?
I remember watching videos of 142 when I was 7 or 8, now I'm turning 23 next month💜 Very nice video and very beautiful loco
Thank you very much

If only 3025 could meet its only other America-bound sister..
Only other? Three SYs were bound for America.
@@DynamoProductions-trains I meant the only other one that actually ended up in the States.

Is this a SY(上游) from China?
It was built in China but it’s been in the United States for it’s entire operational career
Isn’t she a Chinese Railways mikado?
Yes
What’s the status on 142’s restoration?
Ongoing
What ever happened to her?
It’s been down since the 2018 season ended, 1472-day inspection still ongoing
@@DynamoProductions-trains good to know they plan on bringing her back.
