The New York, Susquehanna & Western Technical & Historical Society is known for its involvement in preserving the history of the original as well as the modern NYS&W. Operated along the Black River Rail System's former PRR Belvidere & Delaware Line is the pride of the T&HS' fleet, the striking New York Susquehanna & Western #142, a 1989 Tangshan-built SY 2-8-2. The beautiful mikado struts her stuff over this scenic line that parallels the Delaware River, winding her way through the small villages that can be found along the riversides. This video is a montage of various scenes captured during my involvement with the T&HS, and serves as the second video in the BCP Memories series, with clips captured in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017. Now please enjoy this memory brought to you by Blue Comet Productions!
She puts on quite a show! I should know because I’ve seen here more than once.
Amazing that this loco was built in 1989, and in China! It doesn't look that different from a North American engine from the 1920s. I guess this is what American steam locos would have looked like if diesels had never replaced them. A fascinating look at what might have been.
NYSW did have Pacifics and Decapods that were leased off the Erie in the 1930s and 40s
2:21 imagine living right there and having this train go right by your house everyday!!!!! A dream! Whoever lives there now is lucky!
I love that pacing shot at 1:54. You absolutely nailed it. Great job!
I rode behind this locomotive on a Christmas train in 1991 when I was 4 years old. Santa and Mrs. Claus came aboard and I told Santa I wanted a train for Christmas.
Love the new whistle
It has had an SP 6 Chime before. IDK if it is the same one though. and those other two. But yes, they are wonderful.
The Chinese Mikado (2-8-2)🚂
Even though it looks like an old relic, it’s very ironic that it’s built during the late 1980s, and shipped over to the US from China, which was still using steam locomotives for its railways at the time.
I have always loved the bark of that engine! Hopefully they get to Regalsville and get to build that run around so she can eventually lead both ways. Very nice shots as always

Nice footage.
King of the Creeps o
Awesome. LOVE the SP 6 Chime. Is that the same one it always had?
and That NYC 6 Chime. It is an NYC 6 Chime right?
Man that IC Steamboat Whistle. or Hancock 3 Chime Longbell.
New jersey needs more steam engines
Does this locomotive still operate on the black river railroad?
Evan's Megazord reviews 60 (ALCo, 1937) runs on the Black River & Western. 142 operates on the Bel Del, a joint venture with the BR&W and the NYSWT&HS. However there are rumours that she money is tight and the FRA 1,472 rebuilt may take considerable time.
Kind of reminds me of sou 4501

why the pumpkins or oranges or whatever is on the front of the engine what is it there for.
It is for the great pumpkin train/October trains.
