Thanks for taking the time to compile all this information! I really wanted to jump on the Z13 +XG Mobile wagon last year, but the performance wasn't as good as I was hoping. This data gives me hope that I might be able to replace my current 3080Ti laptop docking station with this + the new XG Mobile without sacrificing too much, if any, performance.

They really seemed to address the performance issues I think a lot of us had with the device last year. Very glad they gave us 130w vs 100w because I could not run mine at turbo without it discharging the battery. So might finally have that performance tablet I’ve been looking for.

Amazing review. I'm personally eyeing the Asus Zenbook 14 pro with a 120hz oled screen and a 4070. It seems like the perfect all around thin and light, but I'm concerned about battery life and curious about the gpu wattage since asus doesn't mention it. What do you think of it and will you test it by chance? Thanks.

Great video as always! How have you found the battery life when not gaming? I have the 2022 i9/3050Ti model, and the battery life was probably my biggest issue with it. The performance was great for such a small machine, and I could notice the screen ghosting on some games - so knowing those 2 things are incredibly better on the 2023 is making me very very tempted. The ACRNM version looks great too (and you did a great video on that too!) but it's just a bit too crazy blingy for me maybe? If the 4050 has decent battery life, I'd angle towards that. If I can sell my 2022...!!

Just got the 2022 version for $1300 at Best Buy, might return it and get the 4060 one instead.
I just got the 2023 4050 model and I'm also really happy with it, idk if I'd trade it for the 4060 or not, because the 4060 is gonna munch battery even faster which could cross into annoying

Use 60% more power and get 60% to 80% more performance, quite good. Last year model cpu power limit throttling at 22w, that will be the main problem I want to know if it has been fixed. Or the machine will still be lack of power, it will stutter like glitch when number of npc increase.

Hi, can you compare the flow z13 2022 vs 2023, especially the keyboard problem. I rad many articles that many of the z13 2022 owner is facing faulty keyboard, they cant bend in certain angle,(the cause probably: 1. flex cables snaps easyl 2. Pin base is damage)
I wanted to buy this 2023 version but if the keyboard facing the same problem maybe i’ll reconsider, really appreciate if reply, thank you, very usefull video..

Could you compare thickness to last years model, its saying its a fair bit thicker but is that maybe just the kick stand thats thicker or the entire device ect ect, thank you, measurements of it without the keyboard would be much appretiated
Does it overheat a lot? Especially when these new models dont allow undervolting.
Nope the cooling solution is very robust.
Does this years model comes with a better solution with the keyboard problem not working while in typing angle, but when I put down completely it works?
Hi, I got my 2023 Z13 a couple of months ago and my question is how to get the best black on the Nebula panel. There are some presets for FPS etc in Armoury Crate but I hope there is some other way to adjust contrast and brightness etc? Any suggestions?

yeah honestly never thought I would say this, but efficiency wise, NVIDIA NAILED it this year, allowing Ultra Books to get on a level never before. Those things are now viable gaming rigs! like wtf! What a time to be alive :D except for pricing ^^

Everything seems good except the RAM factor. Not sure why the 2023 model still has the same 16 GB RAM.
My current laptop drains out of memory when I open too many apps and browser tabs, and some App dev-related apps.

Hey Cbutters what sort of battery times are you getting and lets hope the screen has no PWM (Pulse width modulation).
i think it's free from PWM because the screen is use standart IPS panel, not an miniled or oled which usually had that PWM thing.
I got last year's i9 version. Even 10 months after I got it, it's still my favorite impulse buy ever.
The XG Mobile would be more worthwhile if it was a swappable desktop GPU.
there are versions you could get or make that use a normal desktop gpu.

I’m torn between this and a surface. I need to be able to store the pen away and the surface provides for that. I really wish they had designed the z13 to have a spot to put the pen.

I really don’t need something like this for the type of work I’m gonna be using it for, and neither I need it for gaming since I already have a 3070 ti Zephyrus and a 3070 gaming PC… but god the asthmatics on that tablet looks so good I feel like just driving to my local Best Buy and get it

Yes, US doesn't come with it, grab a surface pen or a cheap one off amazon. It just needs to support MPP (Microsoft Pen Protocol)

How does the Pen performance compare to last year and does it come close to the Surface Pro?
Unfortunately, the pen feels exactly the same as last years, which is to say its a lot less smooth than Surface Pro. It's passable, and has pressure sensitivity; but if inking / drawing is your primary concern... this might not be your device.
I was thinking of getting it and using it with a 4k oled monitor. Will it be able to handle it and can I expect it to handle it for a while into the future?
It can handle that resolution just fine for most things, however for gaming... you should plan on dropping the resolution of newer games to 1080p or 1440p or plan on using FSR or DLSS. It should do okay, especially the 4060 and 4070 version. However, if you really want to play at 4k resolution in games, You'd need likely at least a 4080 graphics solution to hit that in the newest titles.
please use an external mic for your commentary. it is annoying having your volume fluctuating all the time throughout the video because you keep moving around the camera
Are you able to find out how much vram the 4050 has? I believe last years 3050ti only has 4gb

I love the tablet but wished the exposed was made of metal. Looks weird when both sides are different in materials.

If money is no object.... the mobile 3080 is going to be faster, but I think the 2023 is still what I would pick, then if you need more performance, save up for an xg mobile later.
Nice review. That said, I really wanted to like the Flow Z13, of this year's model (as well as last years). My problem? The NvME size is a DEAL BREAKER for me. There are UMPCs (like GPD, AYA, One-Netbook, among others) that enable 2280 in a smaller board, without a hitch. ROG is going to have to figure out that some of us do NOT care about the RGB glass on the back, and care more about storage options, like 2280 NvME (without having to tack on a ROG Arion NvME enclosure). I pay good money for ROG products, but the inky-dinky NvME remains a no-go for me.

According to Reddit and other online users, you may get up to 4-5 hours under the best circumstances possible... On non-gaming or GPU intensive tasks. If you want to game, you plug it in, seems to be the story

There is also RTX2050 model for 2023 Z13. I might consider buy that one to save some cost and then get a 4090 XG MOBILE cuz I need a powerfull pad for bringing outside for work and have a more powerfull gaming PC at home.

If they make a 14-inch OLED version (the current panel sucks, I've seen it live, it's pitiful, let's face it).
With a bigger battery (since then the space is there), 56Wh not even 2 hours do you do with Google Chrome/Opera/Edge.... eating up all the resources with its awesome CEF or whatever, like GPU with DLSS/RTX eating watts like they are chips. Then damn these mini trackpads, it's so much space, why make a square. This tablet/laptop has always been a dream, however on 2000-3000 I expect quality. Another thing on a gaming PC 1TB is nothing, why put a chipset that supports max 1TB, so you can't expand...bhoo. Before they put a solution, they reflect or not.... If they play the saving game on 3000 euros people think 1000 times....

If you put it into silent mode and GPU on eco... The fans stay off; 0db. even doing pretty intensive things...
Turbo mode when taxing the dGPU can be pretty loud though. Performance mode is a good compromise.

@Kotakomba nope. 110w... the 20w overhead is for if you need the battery to be charging. So if running at full speed and charging battery, then yes.. you'd pull 130w from the charger. Since battery was full the cpu+gpu+display don't pull more than 110w.

@Kotakomba nope. The gpu pulling 65 max + 35w on cpu + overhead brings you to 100w, then 10 more for system and screen. It's already very fast at these levels.
