Koi always follow each other around when there's been a change in their environment. Back in the 80s and 90s when I had to clean the pond periodically, the fish used to all school around - not so much in the last 23 years with my much more up to date set up though !

Hope you get the Trich sorted out , mate . I think a lot of the advice on dosage levels ect , come from a KOI Health book by Duncan Griffiths . Have you got it ? Its great for treatments ect . Although , its over 20 years old now , and parasites are more resistant , its still good advice . I`d definitely recommend it to anyone starting out in the hobby .

Great episode. We used to use Potassium permanganate to soak the feet of people with foot ulcers when I was a district Nurse - I never for 1 minute thought it would be useful for this - but it makes sense tho 👍👍👍👍👍

Hi James. I know it could be anything but I got some new Koi from the same place at the same time as you because we had a chat at the time. Sure enough a week later my fish were flashing and clamped up after 4 years with no issues.I've scraped multiple fish on three occasions but haven't found anything yet. I've done a salt treatment and treated for fluke. They are much more lively but still flashing. Will try pp if no improvement next week.
Just that time of year can be many things but adding any new koi can change things and it’s part the reason we all should quarantine our fish but it’s super hard for hobbies to do init
@@JamesTHEKOIwhisperer123 yes mate totally agree. Like you say having a quarantine tank for Koi is not easy due to the space required but at least you will soon be sorted. That's the hammer boy!! 😁

I thought you'd added some underwater lights at first 🤣🤣. Maybe they start going abit wild because of the peroxide. Only joking I know its a very diluted solution. But my days I've had a spilage in the back of my van before without realising non diluted peroxide soaked into the carpet. Kneeling in it my knees weren't half burning within seconds striaght to the hose pipe washing away! I use it for disinfecting new installs . (Plumber)

@JamesTHEKOIwhisperer123 All good here mate! My grow on has come to a stand still temporarily. Work, weather kids and a holiday has stopped me getting out there. Gunna be another 3 weeks before I can fully get back too it. All good things come to those who wait 😎 take care bud

Not to be one of those doubters but I would have suggest to have scape one of those fish flicking and flashing so u know what u have as I would think that it’s more likely flukes this time of year as weather. Now warming up
I did mate and like I said in the video I found trick but didn’t see fluke wouldn’t just treat pond with out not scraping mate
Shame u didn’t do a vid on that part there’s a lot of people out there that wouldn’t know where to start

Yea that could of been a problem but they was all ready flicking be 4 hand but you are right I should of probably put a dust sheet up 100% didn’t think about it untill after I done it but ph and kh is fine as normal
The line in the cement would of changed the ph and kh but they all seem fine now after treatment

@@scottward8771 deffo mate I appreciate that mate thanks it did cross my mind as well in the next video I didn’t cover it again but I have found fluke now as well so thinking it’s just that time of year after a long winter adding the new koi may of kicked it all off could be loads of things keeping koi is great fun at times lol 😂
Had one of mine jumping out of water yesterday, might pp it myself just to be on safe side..
It’s always better to no w uh at you have if you can with a microscope if you haven’t got one don’t worry most koi dealers will help you out if you take them a scrape but I definitely recommend you know what you’re treating for if you can mate

Is this treatment kill the beneficial bacteria?
It can do but after a long cold winter not heated there is not much bacteria left anyway so I always kickstart my filters off with a filter start anyway

But on a serious note if your koi did mate they will not spawn without any brushes or features within the pond to lay their eggs on..and if you could achieve to do that with your koi your new grow on pond would be perfect for that 👍
