I grew up within a very tightknit veteran and LEO community in Southern Illinois and heard countless stories about how a shotgun can completely tip the balance in an engagement and have never looked back since. I love my shotguns and I love buying old LE trade-in shotguns and ammo whenever I can find them online. I grew up buying a lot of semi-auto tactical carbines but now that I am older I just love having a bunch of shotguns and crazy weird 12 gauge loads.
I brought both my Mossy 590 (And trusty Ruger SuperRedHawk) with me during both Deployments/Tours. While I certainly got some side looks (And in one Unit, had to obtain the C.O.'s 'Permission'), when SHTF and we had to breach/lay down covering/suppressive fire, the Mossy was in a league all its own.
Nothing like having 9 shells of '00' clearing an alleyway/room, to convince the bad guys to GTFO (If they still can)
;-)
@@AniwayasSong What branch of service allows service members to carry personally owned weapons on deployment???

Can't speak for the others, 'cause I don't know the facts/truth.
I am a Marine, and all I had to do was get the o.k. from my various C.O.'s, and it was never a problem. I DID have to store them in the armory, alongside my military issued firearms when we were on base of course. (Everyone has to do that, including knives with blades over x-amount in length. THAT rule varies, also (Unless they finally standardized it?)).
Yelp. Totally agree. Shotgun is the absolute best home defense weapon bar none.
Though our unprotected Sense of 'Hearing' would likely object!
(And that's why 'Sign Language' still matters)
;-P
Shotguns are deeply entwined into the American soul. I love them just as much.
Yep you’re completely right about the sling. I’ve tried for so many years to find a setup that works but it just ends up getting in the way. I’ll occasionally run a single point on my Mossberg but that’s pretty rare. In the end all you need is a side saddle and flashlight, beauty in simplicity.
I agree about the sling issue
Ya it’s really tough to get around that on a shotgun they just kinda suck
Have had a trusty 870 at the ready in a HD roll for20+ years - where distances inside the home is 20 feet. 25 yards would knock on the neighbor door! Recently added a semi-auto in the form of a Beretta 1301 to the mix confident enuf in its reliability. that is a devastating platform that mimics the very familiar handling of an AR especially in the tight spaces of the home. confines that can create challenges with a pump gun. Great video - very thought provoking.
Man, I agree with everything you said! And that’s why I’m really starting to like this channel! I think the shotgun gets so much hate because of all the myths that follow it. But like you said a shotgun still has to be aimed, and has to be reloaded and manipulated properly just like any other gun but when done correctly it is an absolutely devastating weapon putting a lot of lead down range with each shot. When I first got into shotguns I started building a tacti-cool gun and just like you mentioned every time I’d add some doo-dad I’d immediately want to take it off and keep it simple, then I realized it was the old school style of combat/Riot shotgun that really got me going, and now I own about 7 diff retro combat style 12 gauges. Keep up the good work, loved this video and love the channel!
I bought a Winchester 1200 defender in 1986 because it matched the model 12 Winchester I used a lot on guard duty in the Army. Since I live in a rural area, I kept it around, but it didn’t have the range i needed. Then federal came out with their flight control ammunition and that changed everything. I keep thinking about a Mossberg 590 S, shockwave and SBS it And maybe sending it to Von Comp for some barrel work
12:17 I’m 30 and agree with that graph , I went for stock Glocks to svi infinity builds to now desiring blues wheel guns or pump guns with wooden furniture that is period Correct or from the actual period, 1911 a1 hi powers with traditional charcoal finishes thing like this , m1grand
100% agree with you.
My FAV vids you do are all on the shotguns, SBS is da 💣
I have always loved Shotties too. I grew up shooting grandpas Model 12 which I still shoot today. We had no recoil pads and we didn’t cry. 😂 now I have the 1301 , 590A1 ,and 940 pro waterfowl. I want to get the cz stage coach next. Great content brother!🇺🇸🦅
Good info.
Thank you!
My Democrat Representative said the heat shield on my Mossberg 590 retro looks scary and I shouldn’t be allowed to own it.
Bro the armory room is looking absolutely beautiful 🔥🔥🔥
Great video Joe love u
I’m using my floor jack for self defense
If 'They're' lucky enough to get past my Husky?
They won't have to worry 'bout much, shortly thereafter!
:-D
Red dots are amazing for clay pigeons. You just have to get them low enough for a good cheek weld. A direct mount like a CROM and HS403 or a T2 work well. It’s nice not to have the barrel blocking the sight picture. A 503 with the 65 moa circle also corresponds well to a tight buckshot pattern out to 25yds.
I have direct mounted Holosuns on my shockwave and 1301 and think they are the superior sighting system.
I have same safe!
Would you be able to let us know what chest rig your using?🧐
I have a Beretta 1301, Mossberg Retro grade 20” and a Winchester NWTF National Wildlife Turkey Federation they all be 12 gauge dang skippy 😂
Vang comp for the win.
Goodness I love that 870 Retro.......
I've been working hard to bring shotguns back to my department.
Great vid. I’m in a shotgun buying state of mind. M4 or 1301??
both? okay. have to choose? 1301. If training is the key, then you can take more reps with the Beretta. It just eats up the recoil! That said, If the new A300 was available when I bought the 1301, I would have purchased it and put the $800 savings into ammo. slamming 12g buck through either tends to add up!! good luck with your purchase -cheers
The 1301 is impressive, but the Beretta A300 is awesome too for 400-500 less. I own the Benelli M4 and love it, but you can get similar performance for less $ with the Berettas.
No advantage shotgun has over a Glock for home defense.
They could also be an ok option for someone that is on a tight budget. Or i could sell a kidney and get a gen 12
I bet if ptr made a shotgun, you’d buy it right away!
Sup buddy😂
shotguns eat
