Hi Benita - some excellent tips which I haven’t used and will happily adopt. Thank you! One which I find useful is to put my wet rinsed-out kitchen sponge into the microwave for about one minute on ‘high’. This seems to ‘sterilise’ the sponge and also give the microwave a steam for cleaning. I do remove it with tongs, though!

Hello Benita. Thank you for all those wonderful relaxing videos. Even though, I have lived in the US for many many years, I am originally from South America. As you might imagine, avocados are important fruits in our daily diet. To get them yo ripe faster, my mother would wrap them in news paper and put them in the oven overnight. You don't have to turn on the oven. the next day they would be ripen.. I hope it works for you.

This is a year late, but putting the hard avocado in a paper bag with an apple or banana for a day or two on the counter or on a shelf will hasten the ripening process nicely. Just don't forget it is in there. I enjoy watching your Swedish perspective.

    1. I wash my bras in the shower using hair shampoo, hang them from the shower head and let them drip-dry. They last longer this way. 2. I cut up those green scourer pads that are abrasive into small pieces, so that I can use a fresh piece each time. 3. We no longer use plastic food wrap as we store food in bowls with a plate cover, but I also use my clean dish drying cloths to wrap around food like home-made bread, which can get stale very quickly.

Totally agree that clinging film can be easily replaced with dishes, this is what our grandmothers used to do anyway before plastic was a daily reality. And I also love the idea of felted pads underneath the appliances, I never thought of that. Great video Benita!

Hello Benita! Great tips as usual - I love the lemon in the dishwasher tip - I drink water everyday with fresh squeezed lemon juice - now I know where to put the skins 😀 I use lemon in my microwave to clean - putting in a bowl of water, turning on for a min or two - and I am able to wipe down my microwave very easily. I use plates to cover left overs in the fridge as well (quite honestly I wasn't even thinking about the idea of 'less plastic used') I like being able to stack the bowls of food of each other in the fridge. I really look forward to your videos every week, I appreciate the time it takes and your content choices ❤ Enjoy your week - and I hope your Mom is doing well. ❤

Love the inspiration folder idea. I use an old lemon in a bowl with a tiny amount of water in my microwave every Monday am whilst cleaning my coffee machine (whilst I’m doing school lunches). I buff mine with a microfibre cloth (it’s stainless steel) and comes up a treat. I then use the lemon in the kettle to descale or monthly in the dishwasher with vinegar. Excellent tips. However, at our home, we try to eat homecooked meals from scratch every day (avoid processed meals) and we always double our recipes so we have food for another day during that week. Instead of using film, we store our food in glass containers with lids. That way we don't need extra dishes to use as lids and can keep our kitchen inventory if not "minimal" at least "reduced" and just enough for our family needs. LOVED the paper storage system!

Thanks for the hanger tip. I cut up pool noodles and shaped them to stick on a few hangers. These work great but take up quite a bit of space.
It's so great to see you have so many followers here. I've been a fan from the early blog days! Time flies ;)
I have looked for that matchbook cover for ages. Any links for that by chance? I know you've had it for so long that it's probably not available anymore but I have to try.
    Happy spring!

I think it’s only available in Sweden. You need the standard Swedish match box for the design to work and matches can’t be sent in the mail.

I love revisiting your videos and I've been doing that this week. I just watched this one and now I want to try the avocado in water trick. I love avos but hate trying to keep the other half fresh!

Great tips, thank you. The one about the hangers is so simple yet I hadn't thought of it 😝 I also love the smell of matches just put out and candles too (weird nordic person 😵‍💫) Love all your video's and look forward to them always, can't wait for the next one 🙂

I always use the trick with plate to cover the meal, it is the best way to reduce garbage! Two of my home tricks are preparing bigger portion of meal and freeze it, so I have a ready dinner in freezer, if I am too busy to cook and cleaning the windows with old tights, do they are much more shiny!

Brown Paper Bag for Avocadoes can help it ripen. I put my raw ones there and just wait for 1-2 days and voila! :)

Great tips! I especially like the microwave cleaning-why hadn't I ever thought to do that before! Curious to know though, why do you keep the burnt matches? Why not just throw them out when you're done after each use?

Because the trash isn't always close by and I don't want them on my surfaces 😊
