It is great how Jay Leno drives his cars and not just let them sit and gather dust in a garage. Cars are meant to be driven regardless if is VW or a Ferrari 250 GTO.
Not if it’s an investment, saying something like” cars are meant to be” well the metal was not meant to be smelted and left in the mountains
@@battlingphoenix3847 Stradivarius musical instruments are so expensive now, they're kept as investments, as the risk of damage through use is too much of a risk. The wealthy investors who've driven those prices increasingly upwards have done music a disservice by doing so.
@@battlingphoenix3847 No human made the metal in the mountains. Humans made these cars. For *DRIVING*, not for sitting around.
@ that’s what a broke liberal would say
@@ExternalInputs exactly so why use a car if it’s value goes down, that’s my point. I’m thinking business not pleasure, listen if you’re not 50 you should be thinking about investments and making money. That’s how we survive in society anyways
He might have more cars than me but I've got more shirts.
He mentions in one video that he does that on purpose because some of the videos are filmed over multiple days, so he doesn't have to match up his outfits for each day's filming.
You ugly baster
I’d give up wearing shirts for a Miura.
@@bimercatracho what's a baster?
brapbrapbrapbrapbrapbrapbrap it squirts liquid on a turkey
This car comes from Windsor, Ontario Canada. In 1989 I worked as a salesperson at a Pontiac/GMC dealership in Windsor . I was outside having a cigarette when a car pull into the dealership and who gets out, none other than Jay himself. He was performing across the river in the state of Michigan (Windsor borders with Detroit Mich) Jay had seen this car advertised in the California auto trader magazine and was planning to stop by the dealership to check out the car when he came to Michigan. This beauti of a car belonged to the owner of the dealership's son who is a friend of mine. The night before Jay came to buy this car, I had been a passenger in the car and we drove around the city and enjoyed the spirit of this car and I have to say that it is FAST!!!!! And if you are ever thinking of buying one, just want to warn you there are no cup holders and no radio, the only music you hear is the sound of that amazing engine and let me tell you, its loud. We drove around for about 20 min till the police were chasing us and we out ran them and pulled into the dealership and straight into the service bay and turned off the lights and watched as the police drove by still with sirens blaring wondering were the car they were chasing disappeared to.lol I'm not making this up. Just thought Id share this memory with you all.
Sounds legit...
awesome story bro :)
+wreek havok and then you woke up?
+wreek havok That is so interesting I had no idea since I too live in Windsor. You may find it interesting that Jay also bought his 3 wheel Morgan in Windsor from a guy I know on Riverside drive in Tecumseh.
any idea what he paid?
Hands down one of the most beautiful cars ever made
I love the classic lines of this car. Truly a work of art.
Easily one of the most beautiful cars ever...
It's a good thing too, because this car is awful. It's a supercar which can't be driven properly above 120(90 if it's low on petrol).
Also the ugliest non concept lamborghini
@@wharris302 I'd say that one goes to the Veneno, but I suppose it's all subjective.
As well as Ferrari 288 GTO both masterpieces
Jag E-Type
what gets me about Jay is his knowledge and history of each car. just that little part of where he says to crack the coolant bleed screw every once in awhile is just mind blowing. the man has hundreds of cars, probably owned thousands over the years and he knows them all, inside and out. Another bucket list item is a tour of his garage.
"meeting car designers cooler than meeting movie stars" **
yeah
artists vs fake smiles
Bloomin Tokyo He was talking about a test driver when he said that, but sure.
I have to chuckle a bit at this... There's been a conversation going on around here regarding actors and their credibility. Something about their skills in reciting a script written by someone else and how that "translates into being authorities in other fields..." Jay's comments on car designers feeds right into that same conversation, in that these people actually create something significant with their own imaginations. They actually have significant skills that I admire... a subject worth pondering... especially around election time!
No lies there
Everytime I watch Jay Leno's Garage I dont envy, he just love the cars. And he dont mind sharing them with us.
Jay, thank you for sharing your garage with us. My favourite line is "come back next week and we'll take something else out". You're a real gentleman...
In the fall of 1969, as a stone-crazy Italian car fan, I happened to be at the Lambo/Jaguar dealer in Avon, CT one night. My boss's E-type had been giving him fits, overheating (of course) and running rough, so he sent me (22 years old) out to see about it. It was a cool night, crisp, and I heard this ripping 12-cylinder sound from the porte cochere: rip, rip, rip, rip. It was the dealership owner's 16-year old son, at the wheel of a Miura P-400. Rip, rip, rip! Shee-it! I about died of jealousy. ("It has a real light flywheel," somebody explained.) "Won't idle correctly." Sure. Yeah, you betcha.
So right. So right Jay.
She IS *_beautiful_* .
One of the most Drop Dead Gorgeous cars ever made. In the history of automotive engineering and design. I just can't stop looking at it.
Anyone got a spare couple of million..?
I remember seeing a bright yellow Miura S at the Amoco station one day back in '69 when I was filling up my old Galaxie 500. That Lambo was sheer beauty! One word: ENVY!
My favourite car of all time.
I love this orange color. And, of course, that piece of art called “car”.
2nd only to the XKE
So much nicer than their modern offerings.
manofweed1 oops well that comment didn't age well lol
This comment didn't age well at all.
this fool never heard of a svj☠️☠️
Thank you so much for sharing all your wonderful cars with us this is truly a treat to be able to watch and enjoy with you , your one-of-a-kind Jay I can't thank you enough for all you do for car guys all around the world
Jay, meeting you is on my bucket list. I love cars and am new to CZcams, but your videos are so addicting. I'm watching them all. Thanks for keeping these beauties out there on the road!
Thanks again Jay. What a beautiful and muscular sound from that beast! My Italian Grandfather (a mechanic) would have glowed if I could have just figured out how to get one of these before he was gone. What a beauty.
Jay, thanks for sharing your fabulous collection with us.
I have to agree with Jay the Lamborghini Miura is a beautiful looking car. I seen one in the flesh recently, which is when you really appreciate it's beauty.
To me, this is what an Italian car is supposed to look like.
Gorgeous.
thanx Jay,for bringing us back to our youth, the cars that drove us wild, the cars that we dreamed of driving, its great that you take them out on the road.
My grandfather had one of these about 40 years ago and I could just wish that we still had it
I like how this guy has everything in the world
Not exactly. Other people with his budget have bought a dozen houses and a personal jet. That will limit your pocket money. Jay likes cars ... He has maybe spent some money, but I have a hunch if he needed some, he could sell a couple off. You might not be able to sell the whole collection in one day at auction, at least not if you wanted to get what they were worth, but I think he's not only had a hobby, he's had an investment. He spends money on restoration and maintenance, but... he'll get that back because they're in better condition. The bonus, is he gets to drive and play with them. And he has a reason to still muck about with cameras and microphones and stuff. I wouldn't say he has everything, but he has quite a few of the things he wants. Including the envy of many of us... LOL.
How can you not like this?
of course we all like this!
Why can't I give this a million thumbs up? Leno delivers this masterpiece in so simple and flawless way.
This car in this exact 'arancio arancione' colour was my childhood dream car..and still is.
I love Jay's everyman approach and knowledge and love for the subject. Seems like a great guy.
One of my favorite cars ...especially Jay lenos
I have some things in life I'll never stop dreaming of. Up high on that list is visiting Mr. Leno's garage and talk about every single car there with him. Gonna take some weeks though...
One of my all time fave cars in automotive history, thanx for sharing as always Jay.
One of my fave episodes. Best podcast ever.
Not everyone can drive a V12 every day Jay. I would definitely take any offerings though haha.
Beautiful car. One just like this (orange 1969 Miura S) sold at Mecum auction a couple months ago for $2,300,000.00. I love that you buy your cars to drive Jay, instead just parking them and covering em up.
Nothing like the sharp sound of an old Italian v12! This and the 250 GTO both sound great.
3:53 doh! Love it when he does that.
That is my favourite car, I love these videos that jay puts up everyday when I get home it's the first thing I check out! I love the fact that he has an engineers mind too! Keep up the good work!
So Jay, you ask for comments on the videos. I have to say I REALLY appreciate every one of them. They get me through the northeast winters when there are no car shows to go to and I can't take my car out because it is packed away for the winter. One of the best parts is all the factual information and history you tell about the cars, the makers, designers and how things work on each one. I eat this stuff up.
It is great that you have all the bucks to do a car "Right". I envy you in that respect. As you know people like to be able to relate to you as one "Car guy" to another, it's part of the fun. Once in a while I loose that sence of relating when you Inadvertenly put down cars that aren't built so perfect. Many of us are "Old school" in the way that we just don't have the bucks to build the way we wish we could. I have been building my 57 chevy for 9 years and still have a ways to go because......the money comes slow and hard. But I do what I can and still want to be part of the "Car guy" community and not feel like my car is junk.
Someone on your post thought it would be great for you to do this as a TV show. I second that idea. Come on Jay.....you got the connections to make it a reality. Thanks for all of the vids. WE LOVE THEM.
This is 1 of my 2 dream cars.
this italian V12 sounds absolutely amazing!
April 1, 2022. Jay continues to reference this very car, to anyone who is a guest. David Lee has heard it a hundred times......LOOK at this car, and than realize, Jay keeps it ready to romp anytime.
This show is getting better. Love the little edits an the handi cam style commentary in the car.
Thanks for the ride J. A true classic.
I LOVE JAY LENO. I really appreciate his undying interest in automotive history and his collection of fine classic vehicles, engines, and mechanical marvels. He has put a tremendous effort into making his collection visible to the world and the incredible artworks in the hangar museum are just as interesting and deserve acknowledgment of their own. I hope that when Jay passes on - he has made it clear as to what will happen to his collection. Hopefully - it can remain intact and become a self-sustaining entity open for tours and special show events.
This is the best youtube channel there will ever be.
Dear Jay, Thank you for finally sharing your Miura with us. I'm a fairly young guy and lack knowledge of alot of the classics. I always appreciate knowing more about the roots of some of my favorite cars. I look forward to seeing what you post next time. Keep the dream alive for us younger guys eager to start our own collection. - Thanks Jay
Thank you for sharing the knowledge and passion with the new generations of enthusiasts.
It really is one of the cars that define "pretty" cars. Gorgeous!
Check out the opening scenes of the 1969 film The Italian job, Miura on a mountain road
Best film opening ever made.
myoldmansanonion "On days like these...."
Guy in the UK now owns that car....check out Cheshire Classic Cars CZcams page... "tuning the Italian Job" Miura.
What a beauty Jay! Thanks for sharing
That was the car I lusted after. I remember buying the Road and Track issue that featured and road tested it. I remember the passage about driving on some California blacktop... "We we driving along at 120 when a 911 came up behind us flashing the lights to pass. I downshifted two gears and left him a spec in the rear view within seconds."
You have to admire a car that was built to spite Enzo Ferrari , because Ferruccio Lamborghini had the cheek to complain his Ferrari road car had some problems , in person no less .
As an aside ,in my home town , a local agricultural machinery supplier , sells Lamborghini tractors , they , like the cars are works of art , making the John Deere and others look average .
+commodore665 Yes, a famous and true story.
commodore665 you're wrong, this is not the first Lamborghini...
You are thinking of the 350gt ot the muira
Keep up the pace on these video releases. It's the best thing on YT.
Such a beautiful car. Thanks for Sharing Jay!
Jay Leno for Top Gear USA!!!
This car, in this same flame Orange colour is one of my earliest happiest memories of toy ownership as a child. Even as a toy among the few I owned the memory of this phenomenon is set in stone.

Wonderful car! Great guy! Thanks Jay for sharing your passion with us!
I've been drooling over the Miura SV since I first saw one at an auto show in Toronto when I was about 13. It was purple on top and smoky grey on the lower bodywork.
One of the best cars from that era. ONE LOVE
The sound is amazing!
Jay please revisit this car and the other beautiful cars you did in the early days of your show as the picture quality in these early episodes doesn't do them justice!

Since Jay has been revisiting on some of the cars he did in his early days, such as this one, it would be nice if Jay did a revised version of this one and maybe his other Miura.
