In my opinion I think you should keep this on. Not only would you not be able to switch users at all until you turn it off but also if you accidentally open the wrong game, you have to wait for it to open to leave instead of just pressing b.
Based on other comments, this option doesn't work with more than one account on the system. Makes sense. Why would you even want to select an account when there's only one?
This is also bad idea if you use multiple user as multiple save file if a game only give you one saved game per user so you don't lose your main save just to start a new game. Like with breath of the wild and Tears of the kingdom

I disabled it on my own Switch as I have only one user profile there, but if I do eventually want to share it, or create a separate profile so I could start with a clean save file for if I were to create a dedicated videogame CZcams channel and want to record longplays for that, I'd have to turn the feature off.
I wish you could set a custom version of this for specific games or the store... for instance, for Smash, Mario Kart and the Nintendo Store, only my account is used.... everything else, we need multiple accounts...
It should be able to be selectable for specific games only. I have Danganronpa (all 3 main games) on mine, and would want to skip it, but I also have Animal Crossing, which I dont want to skip the selection screen.
You can also get rid of the "checking if game can be played" window by making this switch your primary counsel so that you don't constantly need wifi to keep playing

I don't share my Switch with my kids - they have their own, so this is perfect for me! I'll be sure to share this info with my friends and other family members that don't have to share.
