Good vid. Lucky find on this one. Working on my Great grandfathers 1950 Cub which has survived numerous hurricanes including one that blew it over, one barn collapse and my grandmother running it into the local bayou. It’s beat up but tough as a boot. Will be watching all of the videos. Thanks for posting.
I just found your site... my wife of 40 years totally surprised me with a 1949 restored cub last summer. (yes, I married up!) I don't even know what I don't know about tractors, but always wanted one that is older than I am.... I plan on following very closely all your videos and become less stupid. Thanks very much for sharing your knowledge and great information!
A shop manual and parts list will help glad you picked up the little cub of 49 looks like your needing gaskets complete and some caps and covers for the air cleaner tube and some hoses for the thermal system to cool the engine I see the boot on the lift might need replacing and possibly a refit as well, its good you got most the extra parts and pieces too theres a lot a fella can do with one of those. Looking forward to some interesting content.
Cool find! That big pipe with the bracket looks like it's part of a mounted implement that gets slung underneath the tractor. Maybe it could be a part of a mid mount sickle mower or something like that.
What a gret find, 80% of the work is complete. No hydro on this machine all mechanical. These usually came with a belly sickle mower and a 1 bottom plow so I think the part in question is the under belly support to hang the sickle bar and the belt mechanism off the pto.
I bought a similar tractor from a school, the teacher said none of the boys wanted to work on it as they preferred the bigger tractors. It was blocked in a corner of the shop but several young men picked it up and moved it over so it could be rolled to the trailer.
I am guessing that covid halted this particular project. I think the students stopped attending classes in-person, especially the extracurricular classes, and this project got abandoned and then sold.
There's another CZcams channel, czcams.com/channels/xvElPP5wxl-4s60UozU2-g.html. He's in the process of restoring a very early 1949 Cub, making sure his castings are correct for the early version. He should be a wealth of knowledge on these Cubs. He should be able to point you in the right direction.
fyi-.That cub (6 volt) uses a positive ground, and you will have re-polarize the generator to have it charge correctly since it has been apart. I think its in the manual someone else has posted the link
Cubs are fun little tractors, and parts are readily available, either used or new. You need to check out this site: www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/ With two posts there to your credit, you can access their "PDF Manuals" section. There they have manuals, brochures, etc., you can download, including service manuals and operator's manuals. In addition to using Steiners for parts, here are a couple of places. For new and used parts: www.tmtractor.com/ or jptractorsalvage.com/. I have one Cub, a 1947 and I just traded off another one, a 1950. Good luck with your project.
To find one with the paint already done, you got a gem!

Looking forward to this project video series. If you need any reference pictures, let me know, I have a 1954 Cub.
I might do that. Thanks!
