  • You can do it, (watch the whole thing that is) 63 clips 30 seconds or less from scrapers to blasting to gophers even an airplane ride and a 1600 HP Air Tractor

    i really love the unique camera placements, you really give a total machine view of how it all works, and now i fully understand why the scrapers operate in pairs, and why the hoop is on the front, never did understand how it worked out pushing one then get left alone to fill yours . the hoop made sense when i saw how you lowered in onto the first one to help pull the second.

    Awesome work! I built a runway once, but not that large - or involved (rock blasting). Still, enjoyed all the other facets of dirt moving. The outfit I worked for used D9s with cable or hydraulic pans and we had pushers at the ready when needed. Also did a lot of tree removal with a large 235 excavator that was fun. I also learned how to run a grader on that job. Perfect job for grader training!

    Liked the "shot" shot along with everything else. When we were going wide open a shot would yield 90k tons and we'd have it crushed in 2 weeks regular as a clock ticking. Shoot by lunch/dinner every Friday or we'd be out by quitting time. Ran 2 drills mostly Furakawas?. This granite here will slice a tire too. Been there and made the booboo. But it was another fine job well done Mr. J

    That runway needs some grass on it, keep the propwash down!

    • @Jpaydirt
      @Jpaydirt  Před 7 lety +2

      Even if it was established grass those heavy things would run it down to the dirt in no time, I think the best thing would be to have a watering system that could be turned on when they are gone just long enough to keep it damp and not dry out, I watered all day one time just enough to do just that to see what would happen and it worked very will no dust and hard as a rock

    • @puksrasohchurrun
      @puksrasohchurrun Před 5 lety

      we use oil on county dirt roads here in nz. Helps keep it tight, dust down and water out. Grass is great on strips but wouldnt get the chance to ever establish without shutting strip for months.

    Can u do a video on how these scrapers actually work? I'm so curious on how they do what they do step by step. I know the concept I just don't understand the reason for the rear engine and stuff like that. Thanks love your channel by the way

    So is this a private airstrip or a public municipal airstrip. Did they leave it as dirt or pave it? Also it was a good idea to lengthen the runway to the road but I hope they mark it as a displaced threshold for landing or the unaware are going to get a nasty surprise with the power lines.

    • @Jpaydirt
      @Jpaydirt  Před 7 lety +1

      it's a private field, the change gave them more length but more important it puts them straight with the wind

    Why didn't you use your scrapers to move the rock or why not crush it for the runway. We use scrapers to move rock bit without power, just let the D9 push us through onto till and then power away.

    You probably know that was not a gopher, it's a whistle pig, or a squeak, or a Beldens ground squirrel. Great shooting sport in the spring time.
