    I just found this video of cutting pumice and you did a great job of showing removed this material.
    I think this material is turned into a paste and used to sharping all kind of woodworking hand tools. like your girls too.

    Are you able to charge an increased hourly rate when working in abrasive conditions like this to account for extra wear on machines?

    We'll you never know what you may come across watching videos. Been there.... hauled a load or two over to the plant in Idaho Falls. It was a few years back early 1990's... Had an old loader there we loaded with. We were using double belly dumps. Hot and dusty!!!

    • @Jpaydirt
      @Jpaydirt  Před 7 lety +1

      We don't work for them anymore, Old Castle wants us to be MSHA compliant, not worth all the hassle for just one customer, and I don't miss it, it was so hard on radiators undercarriage, cutting edges, it was like dozing grinder discs

    Pumicecrete is by far the best building material on the planet Pumicecrete is a mixture of pumice cement and water mixed and poured into a set of reusable forms walls are poured from 12"to 24" thick pumicecrete is fireproof termite proof rust rot and mold proof and has a high R value and good sound attenuation solid poured walls means no critters can live in your walls Pumicecrete is also very inexpensive if your close to the mine

    so is this a alluvial deposit or from a ash cloud , so how close is your nearest volcano, ours are about 100km away we had one chuck some ash out couple of weeks ago just a lite dusting . but have a 1 foot cover a work 2 foot down from about a 1000 years ago, makes our trees fall over easy.

    is the final drive whining a little or is the closeness of the camera making it sound louder than it is?

    At the 8m35s of this video, I was 'surprised' the blade side frames would have needed 'metal build up' as I would have anticipated the blade being wide enough to deflect any material from "wearing out" the side frame.

      @Jpaydirt  Před 8 lety +1

      69 dude

    • @danielsullivan5474
      @danielsullivan5474 Před 7 lety

      What would cause said d8 to be under powered where it can't even pull itself out of a hole and if you didn't have it being put under a load it will run like nothing's wrong.

    • @Jpaydirt
      @Jpaydirt  Před 7 lety

      Do you get excessive smoke under load? whether your getting smoke or not put a gauge on the pressure side of the intake manifold to see how much boost your getting, also you need a good gauge to check fuel pressure, if you can't get the proper fuel pressure to the injection pump it can't deliver the fuel necessary to make power and produce the boost necessary to burn it, fuel makes boost and boost burns it, there can be some other problems also, fuel rack not able to make full travel, governor not functioning , a serious restriction in the fuel supply line like a flapper in the rubber, even if its a new hose, also if its a supply problem check the fuel shut off valve to see if it will allow the free flow of fuel, you could have something inside the tank that is stuck inside the entry to the valve, do you have an operational fuel pressure gauge? I would need some more detail to understand whats happening,

    • @danielsullivan5474
      @danielsullivan5474 Před 7 lety

      Jpaydirt I'm not the owner of said d8 I'm just giving you full explanation of what my family friend told me. He took the pump and governor to a shop in Phoenix Az but they don't know how to work on the governor. Do you know any shops around that have parts tractors or pull salvage parts. Anything you are willing to share has/is much appreciated. I'm finishing my degree in diesel mechanics but never been around yellow iron of this age.

    • @Jpaydirt
      @Jpaydirt  Před 7 lety +1

      I'm going to assume that he has determined that the pump and governor are the problem, so he's going to have to find a shop or Cat dealer with an older person who has experience with the older scroll pumps, These old pumps are pretty simple, if a competent fuel man had an old service manual it would give a very detailed description of the operation, disassembly and assembly and the specifications needed to rebuild it, he would also need the rack setting info, which you could get from a Cat dealer, I would google any parts you need by the specific part number, I use Machinery Trader's used parts number search or what ever comes up in a search, and I also use Regal for new aftermarket parts, check ebay for a service manual, there a great source, if you are going to school you would love the information they have, they give detailed descriptions of how components work, like transmissions and the valves, with colored diagrams of the oil flow in different gears, you can't get that stuff anymore in a manual
