    I know many people have mentioned this but I’m loving my PSVR 2. To me, it’s a significant upgrade to the Quest 2 (even with its drawbacks). I especially love the eye tracking and the comfort it has right off the bat (especially since I can wear my glasses comfortably in it). Funny thing I have played No Mans Sky on both PCVR and PSVR2 just recently and honestly I’d prefer playing it on PSVR 2 for the comfort and better performance while boosting amazing graphics. Although I totally get why it may not be for everyone. I think it’d be an amazing headset for everyone to try at least once in some way to see if it is for them. I hope that Sony succeeds with this headset for the sake of the industry.

      Is it still worth getting a Quest 2? I trying to decide whether to get a Q2 or PSVR2. It'll be my first VR headset. There are a lot more games I want to play on PCVR. I'm dying to play Half-life Alyx. PSVR2 has only 2 I want to play, GT7 and Res Evil 4 Remake coming.

      PC is great if you are prepared to install mods and tweak settings.
      Res Evil 4 remake is already known to be getting a VR mod and there are many comparable driving sim games on PC such as Automobilista 2 , F1 2022 etc. and GT7 may come to PC later.
      The best content for Alyx is the mods many of which are better than the main game.
      Between the praydog UE mod and the work of other modders and other injectors you can play pretty much any game in VR if you have a GPU that can handle it. But, be aware that if you want to run the really high fidelity games like Cyberpunk 2077, Hogwarts legacy perfectly you basically need a 4090.
      The only reasons to get PSVR2 are lower cost , ease of use and possibly exclusives.
      Q2 standalone is ok for simple games like beat sabre, synth riders etc but it is trash for anything else being totally honest

    • @mornova9510

      @@mcg354 that’s a really good question. In my opinion, if you already have a PS5 and/or are not planning on getting into PC gaming of any kind soon, I think it’s worth getting the PSVR2 first. It’s also worth it if you want to support the VR industry by supporting a company that has you in mind and are kind of sick how Meta has been treating the industry (like me personally). With the PSVR2, it’s honestly pretty close to PCVR quality for gaming. Although if you are planning to get into PC gaming, I’d recommend getting the Quest 2 then as that is an affordable and a great way to get into PCVR gaming in general - also you would also need to get some third party accessories to make your PCVR gaming experience somewhat comfortable. The default face plate and the strap on the Quest 2 headset is very uncomfortable.

      If I believed the psvr 2 was better than the quest 2, i’d buy it but i’m not convinced. Owners are raving about it but this is still the honeymoon period. Quest 2 doesnt have issues with a small sweet spot or mura effect. Has built in speakers. Controllers have like 20 hour battery life. You can choose from many different headstraps. There’s lots of third party peripherals available like controller covers and gun or golf club attachments. All games essentially have demos since all can be tried for an hour and refunded with no issue. Wireless is far better for fitness games. PCVR capable. Has social games like VR chat and RecRoom. Virtual tourism games like Wander and Google Earth VR. Has CZcams VR and lots of VR films built into the headset software. Has some great free games like Blaston, Hyperdash, and Pokerstars. Population One is going free. VR games on Steam can be had for lower prices and can be tried for an hour. Quest 2’s hand tracking and guardian system seem to work better. You can stream the headsets display to a friends smartphone and record live video of the game plus video of the headset wearer embedded into the game footage. Lots of games are cross buy so you get the pcvr and native quest versions. Games have multi generational support. You have controller free hand tracking. You have an abundance of different home environments to choose from. You have fully functional web browsers that can play VR videos. Multiplayer games will have much larger pools of players. You can buy it from a retail store so returns and exchanges are faster and easier. And the Quest 3 is going to be even better, and most likely won’t cost more than the psvr 2. Hopefully Sony brings some good exclusives. They’ll need it.

    Worth every penny for me, hands down the greatest gaming experience I’ve ever had in 30+ years of gaming. Horizon is legendary, the amount of interaction with the environment that you can have fun with will have you in one area of the game for hours just manipulating and interacting, that’s industry game changing and setting the bar extremely high for VR games going forward. Res Village VR took what was revolutionary from Skydance Interactives Walkding Dead Saints and Sinners back in May of 2020 to be able to on the fly quickly switch through your inventory on your person with various motions from your controllers and slapped it on a RE skin and bam you have an incredibly scary and interactive title! Song in the Smoke is another Oldy but goody remastered for PSVR2 same with No Mans Sky, playing that with VR will blow your mind. I don’t know but for me a recipe for success is tech and titles and so far PSVR2 is on the right track for both, if Sony keeps up the titles and remasters for PSVR2 going forward it’s going to be a thrill ride not to be missed.
    Confirmed as of today there’s 93+ titles in development for PSVR2. That’s my take so far I’m happy with it, poor as &$@# but happy with my purchase and excited for the future! 😎

      @@MidnightPodcastGaming no, it's awesome. For 600$ you are getting what PCVR offers with 1500$ of headset+controllers. But you also need a beefy PC that is gonna well into 1500-1800$ to run a game as well as PSVR thanks to foveated rendering, while a PS5 is 500$.
      So it's 1100$ for the tech PCVR offers for 3000$ plus. That 3 times more.
      I had some problems like mura effect in super dark images in Re8 and kayak VR.
      It's not the most comfortable.
      It had some specific controls issues but mainly on Re8.
      still, i played 3 hours in a row today and time flies FAST in VR. it's pure fun.
      It's not a 10/10 but it's sure as hell a 9/10.
      And with PCVR the best you can get is a 9.5/10 with many problems and for 5 times the price.
      Thing is, nothing is perfect. Nothing will ever be perfect. It will always be a
      price:quality ratio and the psvr2 is hands down the BEST bang for your buck VR headset. The competition is not even CLOSE.
      I'm hyped af for the next PSVR. Sony killed it. And it's not because of the problems or that I don't like it. It's the same hype I have for the ps6. Honestly, i didn't even think k would be hyped about this shit before getting a PS5 and then the psvr2.
      Sony brought back the hype for me.
      Way more than the hype I had going from PS2 to PS3 and then PS4. Maybe similar to going from PS1 to PS2 but that's mainly because of mgs2, not the tech itself. It was always about the games, looking better and stuff.
      This time, I'm actually hyped about the tech, the loading times, FSR/DLSS supersampling being virtually identical to the native resolution, same for the VR foveated rendering and eye tracking (you literally can see where people are looking at on their avatars in Pavlov. The eyes in game match the real eyes 🤯)
      But you just wanna watch porn on it. Gotcha. Just get a shitty 30$ VR for your phone, where you slap your phone on the front as a screen, and do it that way. The quality will be shit anyway because they are using 360 cameras instead of 3D rendered images that you can experience in actual real VR.

    Matteo, I think you are spot on with everything you said in this video. The reprojection is really horrible on this headset. I was surprised to discover that the biggest drawback to this system is ps5 combined with Sony's stance on reprojection. The image distortion and warping nearly made me RMA my headset because I thought my lenses were messed up. I have been an index gamer for 3 years and have extensively used quest 2. My second biggest gripe is comfort, it's just not a comfortable headset for me with my small IPD, and the sweet spot. In order to get a crisp image the lenses have to rest on my nose, and after a few times of moving my head around, the halo strap just slides out of place. And the padding is just thin rubber.
    Lastly, I don't think the benefits of OLED (or at least the panels in this headset) outweigh the cons. For a display that is running at nearly double the total pixel count as the index, it's a step back in clarity and sharpness. Sony could have picked something like Quest 2 or Index resolution with LCD panels and pancake lenses for a significantly better and more clear experience. It would be a sharper image that requires less hardware load to run and no one would be complaining about the image quality. Yes, colors and blacks would take a hit but I find those secondary to sharpness.

      @decadent. Před rokem

      Yeah, The clarity and sharpness of PSVR2 is worse than almost any headset even Rift-S which is closer to PSVR1 resolution.
      I think the internal render resolution (lack of Super Sampling) is also a factor in that.
      It will be interesting to see how the headset actually performs if it is hacked to work on PC.
      There is also the issue of including eye tracking but negating the benefits of that my using a lens that only looks clear in the centre.

    hmmm, my personal experience with the controller tracking for the Quest 2 wasn't that good to be honest - there was a lot of controller shake at times. The Pico 4 seemed much better (maybe due to the slight re-orientation of the tracking rings). Overall, the quest 2 controller tracking was a lot more consistent than the PS moves for the OG PSVR of course, but even then with the set up I had, I could get the moves to track smoother than the quest in Beat saber. Can't say that I've noticed any problems with controller tracking on the PSVR2 so far, other than in game issues of arms going off at funny angles (but that's the game, not the tracking, the hands were tracked fine) and I'm betting that there will be a refinement of the tracking software over time anyway (the quest 2 has had a long time to try to get this right - PSVR 2 is not even 2 weeks after release yet). I've had a few drop outs for tracking of the headset but not the controllers. The tight sweet spot is an issue though - the calibration routine helps, but I'm puzzled why Sony went from normal lenses in the PSVR to the fresnel lenses in PSVR 2. It might be a habit thing, but I do think the headband was ever so slightly more comfortable on the original PSVR as well - both are still better than just about every other stock headstrap arrangement though and the new face gasket is superb.

      95% of the titles are games that have been out for years on other VR platforms though. One of the big reasons I'm not terribly interested. Buying a game I've already played for twice the cost I originally paid for a slight upgrade just isn't worth $1000. Exclusives are cool but there's currently what 3? 4? I'm sure more will arrive but I'm guessing a great number of them will again just be PCVR or Quest titles I've already played.

    Well I’ve been thinking of upgrading my VR experience for over a year now. What stopped me was having to buy a Windows🤮 gaming computer that would cost more than the PS5/PSVR2 combined.
    And the computer would be mostly a brick except for VR as I already own an M1 Mac Mini, an iPad mini and an iPhone 13. I don’t need another computer. Especially one running Windows🤮
    But the PS5 will give me a gaming console and 4K UHD Blu-ray player. And the PSVR2 will give me that upgraded VR experience and in cinematic mode a 1080p Oled Big Screen TV.

      You will want that initial experience again without the problems so you will either;
      1) end up looking into PCVR

I try everything suggested but it still slides down the front of my face and hurts the bridge of my nose. The alternative being to tighten it so it doesn’t slip from the sweet spot but get your brain squeezed. It fits great for some, not for others. We need good third party head straps soon.

  • @gedge726
    @gedge726 Před rokem

    I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think the strobing you see with smooth turning is a reprojection issue. Reprojection adds an inbetween frame to the 60 fps content with a rotational offset to make it 120 fps accounting for any head rotation in every other 1/120th sec, while with smooth turning the head is typically barely moving and it's completely reliant on the 60 fps content, so it strobes. You can see the difference if you rotate your head then compare that to a smooth turn. Head rotation is smooth because of reprojection, smooth turning is strobing because it's only 60 fps without motion blur. There are of course other situations where you will get reprojection issues but that's more with positional than rotational change which it can't really deal with. Native 90 fps would be slightly less smooth for head turning but smooth turning would be improved to that same level, and there would be no reprojection artefacts anywhere.

    Mura is the oled panel filter to remove screen door effect, oleds have much more space bettween pixels, so a filter is used. psvr2 is probably a hardware filter, but the effect is much lessened if there is no async reprojection. Async puts a 60hz signal to 120hz ,passing the info steroscopicly, so if there is very low light and a light source happens only in one eye, the async passes parts to the other eye because of the reprojection. Hence seeing artifacs much easier. In games that are strait 90hz or 120hz , for example song in tge smoke, the mura is much more hidden and latent effects dont appear.

    PSVR2 will be more successful than PSVR1 but it won't be a blockbuster hit. Engineers gotta do some sorcery that no one will get sick from it, it has to be cheap, needs a lot of AAA games, it has to be comfortable for all head shapes, and it has to be small like a pair of glasses. VR has a loong way to go, but I know they're going to keep pushing it until its ubiquitous

    Psvr 2 as I’ve argued many times is not the headset to rule them all. It’s there for people who can’t deal with PC’s and prefer the ease of consoles and all ready own a ps5 and maybe the odd person who is quest 2 or pico 4 stand alone only who want a better headset but don’t want the hassle of a pc. I’m on pc and like all other pc owners there’s literally no point us buying a ps5 and psvr 2 UNTIL the games library is so unique to steam that we have to buy it. If I bought a ps5 and psvr 2 currently all I’d be doing is downgrading my current visual experience and having to be wired too, so it’s utterly pointless. I don’t see me on psvr 2 until the earliest the end of this year when the games library gets padded out more with games I can’t buy on steam. If the games are amazing I couldn’t care less about visual issues, I’ll happily trade it off. I’ve seen so many pcvr folks buy psvr 2 and they have all ready returned it.

    If I find enough VRiends, a cool option might be to share the PSVR2. Buy the gear and the exclusive games, play through them and give it to the next person. Do this with 10 people, and for 100$ each, you get to experience some cool games and/or will know if VR is for you?

  • @SuperballsSupervidsOnYT

    How is the tracking compared to say, the HP Reverb G2. I deal with the G2 because I'm waiting on whatever valve announces (hopefully not too much longer), but I was using my nephew's quest on my PC and was doing a lot better in shooting games like Range is Hot and H3VR. Wireless is nice, but I can deal with a pulley, the tracking has been driving me crazy lately though. Another issue is that WMR Portal and SteamVR running together usually take up something like 6GB VRAM on their own. Whenever I can run something via OpenComposite instead of SteamVR i get a HUGE jump in performance. I get good performance with the quest over airlink, but I'm still limited to 72fps instead of the 90 I've gotten used to.

      @@Gamingwithmatteo311 The Quest 2 is about the worst I would ever want. Good for inside out, but I'm trying to make a decision right now. Buckle and get a Quest 2 since it takes WMR out of the equation and my VR performance is through the roof good, plus improved tracking. OR, get base stations and knuckles for the G2, which keeps the Steam/WMR performance issues. OR wait for valve to release something. new.

      Foveated rendering is only giving about 30% performance boost at best in mobile. The next generation XR2 chip will be close to twice the performance and a depth sensor will let it do mixed reality apps. But it's a better option to just have a faster chipset that will help with more tasks than foveated rendering would.
