In my opinion, Batman: Arkham Shadow is the biggest winner of the Gamescom ONL event. After the first teaser it was widely hated, after the story trailer a few thought that maybe it wouldn't be that bad, but only the gameplay trailer made a big impression on players and many of them completely changed their minds about this game. I hope that thanks to this game more people will be convinced to VR and try this technology :)
Out of the two games you can play in all on board right now escape the dark Castle is definitely the more casual and easier to get going. It is definitely better to play with someone that's played before just like most board games but once you've had one run through it's pretty easy to get the hang of
Being a Pico 4 and Quest owner, I love both headsets, I mainly use my quest for standalone games but for PCVR, I always choose my Pico as I play longer sessions on sim racing and also a few flight games and Pico has an advantage with regards to binocular overlap and it will cause strain long term for me. Pico is also well balanced thus it lessens my neck strains. It will still depend on the user on what they want and how much they can afford with regards to headsets. We should all be happy that there are more headsets coming out unlike before from Meta, Pico, Pimax, DPVR, Bigscreen beyond, Valve, HTC, and more to come. More headsets coming out helps with VR development for us consumers to enjoy.
Rogue Incursion is leaving it a bit late. Who wants a hardcore action/horror experience in VR when the chestnuts are roasting on an open fire, everyone is feeling jolly and you've got George Michael singing about Xmas coming from every radio? Oh wait, actually might be a good way to escape from that hell. 😏
I really can't wait for Gundam The fact that it's an interactive movie like the Voltron experience is awesome plus it will have mini games and other things
Pico4 was my favorite PCVR headset for a long time. I now use a Quest3 or PSVR2 and both are great for PC, but if you only care about PCVR and wireless is a must-have, you should definitely consider the Pico4 Ultra. I would prefer it over the Quest3 for PCVR only. Mainly because of the optical stack, slightly better FoV and binocular overlap, and much better comfort due to the battery on the back. The AMVR facial interface is a must-buy for the Pico, the stock facial interface leaves room for glasses and doesn't allow you to get nearly close enough to the lenses.
We're at that time of the year where gaming news gets exciting! I enjoyed All On Board, but I played with someone who was familiar with the game, so that probably helped. And absolutely agree for the Pico, they'll only get my money if they have some good exclusives. This is why I currently own both the Quest 3 and PSVR2.
I have the Quest3 and Pico4. I do like to use the Pico4 for it's Beat Saber clone Mutrix, because it has modes that the Quest doesn't have, like sport mode and it is a lot more easier to add custom songs onto the headset. Just connect the headset with a USB cable and I can start copying from my pc to it or even from a flash-drive. So easy. What I would want though is a better pass-through and multiple windows. And that's coming to the Ultra. Besides that the possibility to record video or shoot pictures in 3D is not bad. Not that I will walk with a VR headset everywhere I go, but who knows that I might bring it along to do just that....
All pico need to do is make a headset that is wireless and also comes with displayport connectivity and there’s something Quest will never offer and a hook they could use to bring folks into their platform.
Just watched that Batman trailer and it looks freaking awesome. I've really enjoyed every game in the series (yes, even Gotham Knights!) and really looking forward to that one.
If pico ultra has local dimming LCD with displayport, it would be attractive both pc gaming and standalone but too bad. Thats the only way to compete with Quest 3 and also it will has Contrast setting for better color and black level for Q3
Oh man, I'm actually really into a new board game VR app. Tabletop Sim can be a little clunky and just doesn't get any more development. I hope it goes places
I'm *onboard* if it isn't just premade boards you have to use. Letting me make my own D&D campaign on it would sell me on it instantly. Or play my niche favorites like bolt action and sniper elite the board game
just joined subscribed to your channel. news video is really good. clean and concise. good information. look forward to keeping up with vr news via your videos 🤘
I definitely want Rock Band types of things... but with physical guitar/drum controllers... same for all previous music and rhythm games. I definitely like a lot of what is coming... motivating me to get a new eyeglass Rx and then to upgrade to the Quest 3. I hope the board game thing is good for single-player as Demeo is cool, but just waaaay too hard for me.
I also owned a Pico 4, really liked the device, but i sold it, for the reasons you just mentioned, they were off on a good start, but ultimately the Quest 3 kept adding new features and constantly(and still is!) updated the headset. Second thing is yeah, content, it was lacking and if you just use it for PCVR, well yeah the Q3 is superior. Really hoped they could be good competition though. might be the Chinese market offers way more content and they're focusing on just China.
I don't know about you all, but I'm purposely avoiding any and all "previews" of Batman, Behemoth, and Metro cause I don't want any of the game to be spoiled before hand. I want it to be a 100% fresh experience and not already know the majority of what's gonna happen, what it's going to be like, and why. (unlike most big VR games that I accidentally spoiled cause I was so interested in learning everything I could) We don't get much AAA and I want to savor as much of it as I can, as spoiler free as I can. All I "need" to know is if the game is good or not, then I'm off to the races.... Gonna be a great fall and winter for us VR enthusiasts!
Regarding Pico 4 Ultra vs Meta Quest 3, I guess the question would be: which is the most ergonomic? The Quest 3 is pretty heavy and rather uncomfortable. How does the Pico 4U compete here?
Extremely excited for Batman! I don't know if you got a chance to get a good listen to the game, but I heard Arkham Shadow is going to be the first quest game with something called "audio ray-casting" I'm curious how the audio adds to the immersion.
I bought the previous Pico and it's brilliant but hamstrung because of the lack of games available. Batman looks a AAA title but i'll wait and see how it plays first
I'm really excited for Batman, but the one thing I'm curious about is how the movement and combat controls work. From the trailer, it looks like mostly preprogrammed movements, but I'm not sure. Does it actually have free movement? That's what I'm interested to know.
The idea of All on Board is good, but it feels like the kind of game where pretty much all future games on it will be dlc and the selection right now is kinda meh.
I love hearing about all the new VR games. I just wish there were more that are my type. The only one that really appeals to me is Metro Awakening and maybe the Alien game since I like space, and I'm worried it won't have the same level of quality as other Metro games because the soul of Metro is the story. The original Metro games had semi mind-blowing stories. I'm just not sure Vertigo Games has made any games with a story that's that good. Platformer games can be good but the type I'd like to see is more like Tomb Raider or Edge of Nowhere, not Max Mustard. Still if Max Mustard gets a VR exclusive PC release I'd probably try it I guess if the reviews are good.
I don't understand why the “much better” Meta Store is always mentioned ? There are only a few exclusive titles that differentiate Meta from the Pico Store and Pico also has titles that are “not” available for Ques users. And “most” acceptable games are available for both systems. I think Quest users are just a little jealous of being tied to the meta store and now being at the mercy of Meta. The Chinese copy a lot but also improve a lot and in my opinion are very innovative and sometimes even better than the western products. Visually, the Q3 also looks really old-fashioned.
Nice! I think you miss a game: Z.O.N.A. Origins a stalker like game from a solo developer. I played the first vr iteration and i think it’s a good experience (the only part i can say wasn’t at the same great level it’s enemy ai that was a bit simplistic). This new game looks bigger and more complex. Surely something amintious from a solo dev.
TBH... what is the point of giving us consumers 2160 × 2160 when there's nothing in the library... I'm not saying nothing is good with the Pico. But what is the main point of a VR device? Is it just the hardware, or the specs? Or are we also looking forward to getting our hands on more realistic game titles? So my point is simple... It's not just about specs but apps, games, patches, and updates as well. Hopefully, we can see that happening in Pico. Meta has so many followers for a reason. Give people what they are looking for~
I'm actually interested in the Pico 4 Ultra but for one reason. I can record game play using steams VR View with both eyes right dominant which gives me a wide fov for those watching the video. I can't do that with the Quest 3 or Quest pro or any of those cause it shows the shadowy overlap. The only problem with the pico 4 is it has just the 5ghz frequency SO, with the Ultra having wifi 7 compatibility and access to that 6ghz frequency, I'm hoping it can do what the Pico 4 can do only better with the better wifi. Course, it will NEVER release in the US so my only hope is being able to import one somehow like I did with the Pico 4 ....
Is Behemoth a RPG? Will we get geR, weapons, level up? I wanna know which games are PCVR. It seems like years ago the steamVR (valve Index) was getting the new games first, then they got dumbed down graphics for the Quest. I got a 4080 rig, I'm not going to play standalone graphics games.
I’m most excited for alien and anything else horror related. Behemoth looks amazing too. TBH could care less for Batman. However, Matteo you just looking so.. god damn- I don’t even have to say it. You probably know what I’m thinking
You keep talking about the Batman game, which I am sure will be a good game with all the hype, but I also feel it is going to be a 60-70 dollar purchase if sold on STEAM. Not sure what top end prices are on Meta. Far as the Pico products, if they do not want to sell and distribute them in the US, then these products are not for me. Thanks for the reviews. Take care.
I have a Pico 4 and I play exclusively PCVR games. Cause I don't understand why anyone would buy stand alone games for headset. If you don´t have a good gaming PC though that would make sense. Let me explain, at one point in the future all the games you bought in your headset is gonna be unplayable. due to hardware change, switching brand or whatever. Since they often are, like meta exclusive. With the games on steam however I can play them as long as I like in the future, no matter my headset brand... All my games are PCVR for that reason. And Quake 3 VR is pretty much the only game I have thats run only in the headset... witch is a free modded version of Quake 3.
Content, software and features is king and sadly Pico has never done enough to usurp meta in those aspects. The headsets they make are all specs with no real substance.
Really making me wonder about Batman. According to your last video you are embargoed so you know more about it and here you mention a bait and switch....
That's the problem with VR. They need to focus on QUALITY, not QUANTITY. Everyday I watch VR news to see if there's a game that will make me go out and get a quest 3......but nope! It's pretty obvious mateo is faking the enthusiasm, he's know these games are booboo but he needs to push content regardless because he has bills just like the rest of us 🤑
