  • This is a promotional film that was put out by the Oliver tractor company made to promote the brand new Super line of tractors. It shows of footage of the R&D department at Oliver as well as gives out a lot of technical data relating to the 70 vs 77 vs the XO-121 (Super prototype) It also has footage of Oliver's "traction dynometer" It was a testing machine that was used to measure the output of what the tractor could do under different loads.
I claim no copy-write over this video, and it was converted from an old VHS of my fathers. This video was available at one time from the Floyd County museum, in Charles city IA. Also on an interesting side note. When I was at the museum last summer the XO-121 is on display, and it looks just as good now as it did when this film was made

Oliver had some real advancements then. I actually sat on the XO-121 myself, and it was awesome! I went to the Floyd County Museum in 2014.

Oliver was the industry leader in Diesels then. They made this to see is Gasoline could compete with Diesels for efficiency. The answer was yes, but the 100 octane fuel was too expensive to be practical.

You know it's really cool to think that my uncles worked at the Oliver plant I know one of them was one of the head painters from the mid fifties until the end I don't know what any of the others did though

I think the XO 121 should have been put into production.

I wonder if the late great Mel Blanc did the carnival barker's voice. Sounds like something you'd hear on a Looney Tunes cartoon.

I wonder whatever possessed the writer to write in all of that voodoo gambling stuff at the beginning? I found that strange.

Man wish we could go back to this time and tell the management not to give anything to white if Oliver wasn't bought by white we probably would of seen more of this advancement in Farm Machinery

Lol should have just started with diesel. Lol. It's higher compression more torque. Not necessarily horsepower but torque. And more fuel efficient.

More BTUs in a gallon of diesel than a gallon of gasoline.
