Possibly the largest land-based super heavy transport the Astartes have ever fielded.
It is a thing from the dark past of the Crusade and the Horus Heresy.
The initial story is a flavour piece only and designed to explore the characters of the setting and make it easier to learn about warhammer.
They are self-written and never ever to be considered cannon.
Story concerns the ongoing tale of Tarax Antarax, a flashback to his days in the Heresy.
He is connected to the campaign at Abundance Tertius. Or it will be when I can get my finger out and make more of them. Sorry. I AM working on them. Its just been a difficult time this first section of 2022 and I did not want to continue it until I am firing on all cylinders.

I love it when you do Iron Warriors narratives, getting to listen to how my favorite legion gets to be dangerous and not just a punching bag for the Ultrasmurfs or Dorn's mustard boys when they need to look interesting. Iron within, Iron without Baldy.
Wow, this story. Well-told and enjoyable in its wickedness, obviously, yet I was hopping mad the entire time. The Iron Warriors tearing through the Imperial Fists during the Heresy... The power of a well-told story in our precious setting is remarkable, because I was very nearly casting about for a chainsword or bolter myself to repel the attack.

Your army is never complete without a tank, never heard of this pattern of tank but my personal favourite heavy vehicle is the pre-heresy fell blade tank... another glorious and heavy treaded video my lord
Technically, this isn't a tank. It's a superheavy transport. It's like an improved version of a modern APC, or a ground-mobile boarding torpedo or drop pod. Actually has a lot in common with the Caestus Assault Ram, with its Mega-Melta to prepare the target for penetration.

@@tarektechmarine8209 Azzie says "Your army is never complete without a tank," but apparently an APC fits the bill. What's the criteria? An army built around a superheavy tank is a much different army from one with a few APCs. Does mobile artillery fit the bill? It's also not a tank, but it has a big gun and not so much armor, while an APC has armor and not so big a gun. Azzie has something to say about how an army must be composed, but I'm unsure about the meaning.
@@LetholdusKaspyr in the DAOT the baneblade was a LIGHT scout tank, so I’m working off the height of humanity in the setting. Hope it doesn’t confuse you but with the amount of weapon arrays that thing has it might aswell be a seige tank like the Iron warriors typhon class seige tank since lord B based this on the sons of Perty
@@Azzie420 Size and weight classification aside, this has no main gun. The Seige Melta Array is its most powerful weapon, and that's very short range. It also is designed to open up for deployment of infantry. It's an APC. In the video title, it says "Superheavy Transport."

I don't know what I loved more about this story: The story itself, which was incredibly well written, the fact that it's an Iron Warriors story (my favorite Legion) or the fangasms you had as you went into the details of this vehicle. Either way, this is a masterpiece of a video!

Hearing things like "melta array" and "door launcher" does things for me.
The Iron Warriors are so the opposite number of the Imperial Fists. Their goals and main battle tactics are similar, but the way they are carried out could not be more different. I always found it odd that the Emperor saw the need to create two primarchs whose special attributing strengths was siege craft. One was better at defending. The other at breaking the defense. I lean towards the Emperor knowing and planning the heresy. He knew he would need two of these stalwart and incredibly stubborn Primarchs. Too counter the other when one fell. I could not imagine the destruction a loyal Pertabo could deliver. Nor the ferocity of a Traitor Sigismund. Even uttering that sentence is heresy. Forgive me milord. A fantastic and well written tale. Your voice perfectly captures what I think a son of Iron would sound like. A sneer of superiority. Old and angry. Of Iron itself. Your work has fueled me to start more detailed writings myself. For that Faithful Servant, I give thanks too. The Emperors Light shines on you as it does Saint Celestine. I fill my time with listening to you and Luetin09 while I clean. Your voices and story telling is a step up above everyone considering you started on CZcams. Thank you again Sir Baldermort.

If Mastodon, and Levithan Dreadnoughts are allowed in 40k games, we may see larger armies fielded on the table top. With all 30k models allowed in 40k games, if it comes to pass, we will see armies that will bring in new players to build their own armies.
I believe you can bring them but there is an associated 1cp cost due to it being an ancient relic.

Brother Baldermort….you have answered your own question about the Mastodon…through out history, it has always been a race between weapons and armor. There needs to be a trade off between protection and mobility, look at the armored knight at the pinnacle of plate armor, but it could be defeated by the Long bow and crossbow, two weapons that were much cheaper to field, by magnitudes. In your video about the tactical squads (excellent, btw) you state that the Legions were on track to receive Tactical Dreadnought armor to replace the standard power armor, only the heresy and supply shortages changed that, but you stated that it was not a fix all to every tactical environment because of its lack of maneuverability and therefore it’s weak points could be exploited. I served for 21+ years in the US Army, deployed twice to Iraq and once to Afghanistan. Even our body armor changed in weight and degrees of protection in favor of weight and mobility, based on terrain. I can tell you, I’ve seen tanks and armored transports disabled and /or destroyed be all kinds of IED’s and other munitions. Short story long, a $10,000,000 tank can still be scrapped by a $10,000 RPG or $1000 IED if the person deploying it, knows how to best use it.

Great stuff as always Baldemort. The Mastadon is cool and fun in lore but I have never ran one one the Tabletop as I don't use much Transports for my Blood Angels.
My Warpsmith is a former Iron Warrior turned Word Bearer after the call of the Gods brought him to a wrecked Mastodon. It has been in the back of his workshop since, a pet project many would chastise him for putting attention on. But the day its fielded he knows it will be a force to reckon with.

Put a geller field on one and you have a anti chaos weapon, drive into the massed demons and destroy them. Also, this eould really help with tyranids.
That would actually work well. But the Mechanicus HATES innovation.
