    I still think it's amazing just how much lore there is in warhammer 40k and even down the the smallest thing's like bolter rounds types again this one of the reason's why I became interested in the game great video as always grim.

    Drum mags will work without jamming if they are properly designed and maintained.
    One minor deviation in design required a 100rnd drum to only carry 90 rounds. This insured a loose fit and plenty of room for the rounds to move in the drum. Next is the rotary feed guide in the drum. this needs to be roller bearings not ball, due to the ball bearings waning durability in older more well worn units. Also plenty of dry lube, often graphite dust. However heavy INORGANIC machine grease can be used as well but it harder to clean out if fouled. Finally a reversing crank. This allows the drum to back up and unjam a round in the drum. A jam in the bolter, is another problem.
    This variation works extremely well in trials. Its ability to be fixed on thh spot and instantly was very popular. But as there is not STC for it, there are none being issued en masse for the Astartes Primaris, SoBs, or the IG. However the Inquisition, particularly Grey knights and Deathwatch have been known to use more drum feeds than most units or chapters, and jams have never been observed or reported leading outsiders looking in, what scant few there are, to realize they are using the improved drums.

      idea: variant of a bolt pistol using a cylinder instead of a mag since revolvers technically can't jam

      One other thing I believe in the book Rogue Trader it states the Heavy Bolter is a 'heavier' version of the bolter and it's calibre was 1.0 and it also confirms the .75 of the 'standard' Bolter.
      Excellent vid

      It makes your voice more emersive to the 40k universe. It's beautifully in depth like I'm sitting in on a lecture with a Tech Priest. It feels like what an Adeptus Astartes might hear and view to become a Techmarine for his chapter. Lore + Immersion = all of the attention on the Lore.

    Great Video 👍. For addition info and comparisons, a .75 caliber bolt round is 19.05mm in diameter. A modern .50 caliber BMG is 12.7mm.

    You forgot the kicker charge that expels the round out of gun before it ignites.
    EDIT: does it bother anyone that the banana mag is never equally proportional. Like dudes can’t draw curved lines.

    I feel like the Imperium would've gotten better results with some sort of .50 caliber round or a .40 caliber, as that tip alone is too thick for good penetration, it looks more like a 9mm FMJ's tip rather than something sharp and penetrative like classic .50 BMG. Maybe the stabilized Gyrojet round helps out better, but as far as I can see any sort of irl purpose with equivalent types of material would merely end up not penetrating.

  • @alexandarvoncarsteinzarovi3723

    My every time I make a kill using armor penetration rounds in certain games, a lot of people, even my squadmates start cussing at me and say I am a cheater, so I say to them "how am I cheating when I am using tactics, gear and aiming?" the same applies for tabletop or board games, besides "Sniping is a good job"

      Agreed,
      Like 40k version of world of Warcraft! Now that would be epic! Could pick between life as a Space marine chapter specific or rouge, Eldar, necron, chaos Marine, ork, tau, assassin guild, inquisitor the list goes on and on. You could be apart of legions or any other corresponding groups. Travel the galaxy for different missions.
      possibilities would be endless. Gameplay would be superb!

    In the actual tabletop game though aren't deathwatch the only ones that can use specialist ammo?

    • @GrimDarkNarrator
      @GrimDarkNarrator  Před 6 lety +1

      I'm not very knowledgeable on the tabletop. In the lore though, there's plenty of factions with access to the more unique types of ammo. And there's also special kinds of ammunition restricted to those who only manufacture it for themselves like Space Wolves or Blood Angels.

      Hi in Advanced Space Crusade (board game) you control a team of marine scouts infiltrating a hive ship. One of the scouts is armed with a heavy bolter and allowed you to fire Hellfire rounds. Unsure about the tabletop version though

    • @jethrot7984
      @jethrot7984 Před 6 lety

    • @GrimDarkNarrator
      @GrimDarkNarrator  Před 6 lety +1

      Scout marines don't really use heavy bolters. They typically use shotguns or sniper rifles. Also, while Scout marines don't typically wear full power armour, they can wear some elements of it which gives them partial benefits.
