There is a tendency to blame Haiti for its problems. But before anyone can blame Haitians, the role of the United States must be examined along with the UN and the Organization of States in addition to the gangs and the rival oligarchs. United States invaded Haiti in 1915 and occupied Haiti for 19 years. It was a brutal occupation. When the US Marines left, they took with them Haiti's gold reserves. During their occupation the US also refinanced the debt Haiti was paying to France so that they could receive revenues from the indemnity payment.
The US supported the Duvalier regime monetarily and diplomatically. The US did nothing about the death squads and tyranny. When Baby Doc was overthrown, the US sent a plane to pick up Baby Doc. The US and the UN set about helping Haiti to rewrite its constitution, dismantle the military and reorganize the police force. The US had a lot of input in the rewriting of Haitian laws and the constitution that would allow foreigners the ability to trade without without tariffs and to own property. The Clinton Administration basically destroyed Haiti's agricultural economy and led Haiti to no longer produce food for its own population. Clinton set up deals so that Haiti had to buy important staples from the United States.
The millions that were raised to help Haiti rebuild after the earthquake were never given directly to the Haitian people. All those NGOs that were present at the time of the earthquake were not especially helpful. The US keeps backing presidents who do not really represent the majority of the people. Aristide did represent the people, but when he governed he became corrupt. When he was in exile in the US he received the proceeds of the Haitian treasury. He became very wealthy.
Haiti has been in shambles for a long time. The UN has a presence in Haiti and so does the US. Neither seems especially concerned or motivated to help Haiti get out from under the endless stream of corrupt politicians. Perhaps it is because they are too busy controlling whatever it is that keeps the US constantly meddling in Haiti's affairs. If Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, why is the US always involving itself with Haiti, and Haiti only gets poorer and more wretched?

The thing is that for the most part, people in Haiti who are not destitute are simply not going to get in front of a camera and talk to some random reporter. So, if all you can do is to get accounts from people who live on the streets of Haiti, then what you're gonna get are the experiences of people who live on the streets of Haiti, which will be about the same with or without political unrest. Living in the streets anywhere is hard, and especially hard in Haiti.

The problem in Haïti that is most of people in Port au Prince think that the president was not trying to stop the violence, the oligarques And his opposants made them hate him because he was fighting against them, everything he try to help the people they boycott him,he was trying to do some good projects like electricyties, roads,in some others towns in Haïti because he could not do nothing in Port au Prince because everyday they were manifested in the steets, those olicarqs And politicians even paid gangs to kidnapp And to shoot on people to accuse the president, finally they killed him, because he was open the people eyes about how the system is corrupted,And i think that the message that they want to send is that they will exile or kill every president who will try to fight this corrupted system in a Haiti 🇭🇹
