This video got added to my suggestions after watching your X100V accessories video (I just purchased one myself). I've been an amateur photographer for more than 25 years and I almost skipped over this video. But I'm so glad I did not. This is THE BEST job of explaining the exposure triangle I've ever seen (or read). I showed it to my wife who was as terrified of my X100V as my 4/3 micro and DSLRs...in under 10mins she said "OMG! I actually get it!". Nice work mate. 👍 And a here's a second thumbs-up for shooting here in Sydney. 👍😃
Thankyou so much for the kind comment! And haha, I actually wrote the script for this with my missus in mind. How can someone who has no interest in photography still be able to understand the basics without all the jargon? 🤣
@@JayRegular NAILED IT!
😅😮😅😅😮😅😮😮😅😅😅😮
Best video on youtube explaining the exposure triangle. !!! Much appreciated
I definitely recommend shooting in manual because YOU choose, you have total freedom of how you want the picture to look like. It might be overwhelming at first but this video explains it perfectly imo
I rarely comment, but man this video is great. I've shot for years and I have experimented lots with aperture and shutter speed, but ISO was always confusing. Rewatched it twice immediately!
Even though I learned that over 40 years ago with a K1000, it was nice to see it presented again while I had a bowl of pasta. Thank you!
Simple and clear. A very good job of explaining for all those who want to understand how it works.
Thankyou Christian!
This is the best explanation of the exposure triangle I’ve seen. Will be getting an X100V as my first digital camera. I’m sure I’ll refer to this video many times. Can’t wait for the camera to arrive.
Seriously Jay... I have a X100V and I've learned by myself how to shoot manual, but you've confirmed everything in this video. You've made it very simple... thank you, that is a very very nice helpful video, very nice of you. Thanks !
Congratulations, my man. This is the best triangle explainer video I've seen. And I've seen plenty. Thank you so much.
I already have all of this down but your tutorial is by far the best in CZcams, I had watched Peter McKinnon's one about this but this is just so much better.
Dude! This is the best of the best video explaining the subject in a simple, easy to understand and with clear practical examples. I know, I have watched about 20 videos on this subject, 2 or 3 are really good but for me this is the best. Thank you!
Thanks so much! This means a lot to me 😊
I couldn’t agree more. It’s perfect. Well done Jay.

Thank you for this. I want to start relying less on auto on my X100V. I’m not a technical person but you made it all seem so simple. Time to practise now!
so adorable little running hand lollllllll
It's not a tutorial if it doesn't include some cool hand action right? 😂
Best explanation ever!
First time I understood this. It's that good.
Wonderfully explained 👌🏼
Thank you for this!!
Had photography class in university and all that explained but very poorly, found myself taking photos and having to ask more expericenced friends for help because of how lost I was!! This finally explained it to me clearly, thank you so much!
You have no idea how helpful that was! I feel confident that I can shoot manual now with my X100V. Thanks man. I’m subscribed!
thankyou very much! glad it was easy to understand :)
Thank you so much ! You made things clear
This was so helpful, thanks!
Thanks, you did a nice job of explaining shooting in manual. I shoot in manual 90% of the time and it is no dought the best way you can control the 3 elements. I've tried to teach family members how and why you would want to use manual mode. I think for some people it's just easier to shoot in A or S mode. Fuji cameras are one of the easiest to use in manual, set the manual aperture ring, and adjust the front and rear dial. I set one for shutter and the other for ISO. That said there is a place for A priority at times. The hardest thing for a new user is the thought process you outlined in the video. As a seasoned photographer, this thought process is just part of my workflow and until you understand the process you are always going to hit and miss.
Well said Mark, I think the introduction of automation in cameras came as a necessity not only for working professionals who knew everything and valued their time and money, but more for companies to target general consumers who didn't care about theory and just wanted to see good results quickly. Granted this was all during the time before mobile phones had decent cameras. Nowadays we are starting to see people, the younger generation especially, trying to differentiate themselves from automation by going back to fully manual film cameras, appreciating photography more for the 'experience' of the process rather than the result. I can only imagine the day when we can capture photos with a blink of our eyes and photo editing programs become fully automated and produce the best results without us lifting a finger. The latter has already started, but hey, what a time to be alive.
@@JayRegular Yes, just about any skilled photographer can create stunning images with just about any camera. I started in digital from the beginning, remember 1.5 megapixels with about 2-second shutter delay? Wow, we are lucky!
GREAT video instruction. Thank you.
Amazing tutorial thank you so much
Awesome video and commentary 👌
Thank you so much for this video, it's incredibly helpful for an amateur like myself 😀
Thank you so much for this video. Very fundamental. Things I’ve forgotten since I’ve been reliant on Aperture/Shutter priority. :)
