Best rFactor 2 Overlay! - welcome to 2022, rF2!!

- rFactor 2 has always been regarded as one of the best sim with awesome physics, FFB and tyre model etc, but the HUD looks so ugly that seems to have come from the 70s.
R00b_Driver on racedepartment has created this fantastic Simhub overlay, that completely transformed the rfactor2 experience. With the upcoming LFM integration, you should definitely give this overlay a go!

My apology that I was playing around with the new mic position but didn't notice it was casting a big shadow onto my face! Poor lighting!! I will make sure to improve on the next vid! :)
Finally got it to work and yes it's brilliant. I'm not computer savvy and I wasn't extracting files from folders before copying them into the SimHub folders, I was just copying the whole folder. Was worth the effort though.

Man you share the same thoughts cause the hud from studio 397 is pretty ugly. This one is the best so far.
Spent hours trying to get this to work. I'm not very PC literate. I eventually managed to get rF2 SimHub plugin into Simhub and went through the guide but whenever I go to New Overlay layout /overlay editor there aren't any newoverlays I didn't have before. In installation guide at overlay editor stage it says " Go Nuts" I have but not in a good way.
Great video. ive had rf2 to for years, now i have to get back into it because of LFM ha ha
I still yet to try LFM on rf2, but I like LFM on ACC so I am quite excited 😊

I tried this and this is by far the best overlay for rf2. however, they don't have options to see electronics settings such as tcs,abs and other stuff when I need when I drive for 720s gt3
I have been using these for a while now - use rfactor 2 in windows mode..bht using in windows mode with these overlays limit my fps to 60 nd a slight delay in steering movement. My gpu nd cpu is only at max 30 % and also in full svreen mode i can get 100 fps easily
Yeah it it one of the best for feedback, But AMS2 is amazing, The sounds AMS got is crazy, But this still is on par with AMS 2 tho, They both proper addictive.....

Please how can I instal overlays and activate they? I have from racedepth one nice for endurance but I dont know how I use it? :-(
You should give RaceRoom a try for it's force feedback and sound.
I played R3E for a while but the online is pretty dead for my timezone unfortunately. However I was impressed by the Adaptive AI, only wishes the game has modern graphics and features such as night racing etc :)
@@nothingproheretv Yea, R3E needs more player base for different time zones, It do lack some of the features that other sims offer, but the one thing I wish they implement is weather temperature, track temperature and tires rubber in on the track.
@@MrDantte I was hoping R3E can be my iRacing alternative because I only have 2 kidneys and I intended to keep them for my own use 😂
They really need a new directx engine too but I sadly don't see that happening :(

Awesome tip, really like the overlays, thanks! Just one question, my radar is really sluggish/slow when compared to yours... any suggestion?
I sometimes have issue with radar too (other overlays as well) and I think it is a performance issue. You can try set the overlay to use HTML as the rendering engine (right click on the overlay in the main simhub window) see if that helps. But you will lose the custom font by doing that.
Try to run simhub as administrator. Also cap youre rf2 fps to give the gpu some headroom
I did started to run the radar overlay with HTML engine, and at first glance it worked. But, on the next time was sluggish again, so it seems it is not coherent...
I will try to run it as admin, but in all other overlays everything is ok!
And I can not cap the rf2 fps, I have to low some stuff to have it running on 60FpS more or less stable... so yeah, it could be a performance issue, but if so, I think eeverything would be affected, not only the radar specifically..

@@RDEstevao no problem mate. for my personal when i see that my gpu usage is around 90% or higher then my overlays start to stutter. that's why I provide some headroom for the gpu.
@@RDEstevao also try enable vsync in rf2 (I know it's not ideal lol) especially if your monitor can do over 60hz, I read from somewhere on Reddit about it that the overlay was mismatching the frequency with the rest of the game rendering, but I haven't tested myself because it doesn't make sense to me while it kinda makes tiny bit of sense at the same time (LOL ok I am not making sense of myself now)

I got ask a stupid question, But I am new to streaming, I been having issues with my sound card drivers, Lost the volume icon, But the drivers are still in the PC, I just bought a soundboard soundcard with the condenser mic, Waiting for Amazon too deliver it anytime now, I won't even need to worry about the sound card that's in it anyways yeah??, The streaming setup will give me external sound Yeah, It's been a while since I been rocking PC, Windows 10 feels Alien, This sound issue happening after I left the PC on sleep an it updated, So updates F'd my sound drivers, Something done something coz all I've done is SIM race on it, But yeah the soundboard Will come with dedicated sound drivers anyways yeah.....

I can download the overlay okay but can't get it into Simhub. When I go to open the file nothing happens. If I save the file I can't drag/copy the file into simhub. Watched a CZcams video on how to load overlays into SimHub and it said download the file. Okay. Don't save file just open it by double clicking on it. Doesn't work for me. Anyone please help.

I haven't tried it sorry. I think someone said it needs extra setting/app to put overlay in VR. I personally turn all his off when racing in VR for realism and use crew chief with it's voice command :)

It's a simulator, you wouldn't have all that gumph in the real thing would you?
Of coz, and I know some people prefer no HUD or use the in-car dash, but I and many people simply don't have enough budget/peripherals/screens etc to receive those information in a full-on realistic way (crewchief maybe?), so a HUD is a good option.
