#simracing #rennsport #esports - Hry
It seems to me Rennsport will die as soon as the esports competitions end. I haven't heard anyone say they like how it drives, that's a pretty bad sign imo
Rennsport feels and looks bad imo, the handling is not nice and feels like I drift around the track than anything. Nothing about it makes me want to play it.
plus the esports doesnt seem that good either, with how they kind of have to set it up
Honestly, esl in Rennsport and f1 league racing (and even in ACC) just gives bad image to esport drivers, nothing looks real, everybody drives exploiting the specific game and it's "meta" ways. And since there's no real consequences no one cares about standarts.
i agree every car should have same power
@@relax4531power has nothing to do with it lol
@@zachdoran10 kinda does bro i been playing acc for like a year
@@relax4531my brother in chirst it'd be a serious issue if you gave, say, the Bentley and ferrari the same power without some insane tire/aero BOP chicanery
hes not talking about power- hes talking about racing conduct standards...
Agree completely. Some fun races but alot of the time the contact ruins it. Its like lfm sprint race lol doesnt show the drivers in good lights. Cars look soo oversteerey
not gonna lie I really was interested by ESL R1 then after a couple of races, I lost interest in it due to the racing and all the bad and sometimes stupid moves I saw. In the past I compared it to a better Mario Kart level for the way to handle racing with others not the talent of drivers of course. Disappointed by the serie and not watching it anymore. Could have been big I think but missed the target for several reasons including racing behaviors.
it's very confusing to have esports in a beta game that is not released to the public....
Last year, I mean season, you should have won the championship. The stewards should have been prepared that a championship contender might take his main rival out. It's a huge decision, but needs to be made otherwise integrity blows a servo and confidence spins off into the gravel. Adding damage would maybe reduce the amount of pens the stewards have to assess. Punting someone now might result in a time pen, but with damage it might result in a longer pitstop for repairs.
No damage? It's like mario karts not a simulation
RENNSPORT was founded by motorsports and game development enthusiasts with the ambition to code the most realistic racing simulation possible
😂😂😂😂
Theres damage in the beta. I guess they don’t want to enable it mid-season for a sports series.
After watching WOR and PSGL tier 1 with the F1 E-sports guys, I'm gonna go ahead and say that's the lowest of the low now. I don't know what happened there but holy shit the racing is awful there. It's literally open lobby level bad now except for Jarno and Lucas. Thomas Griphaar, Otis Lawrence, and Alfie Butcher are causing murders on track basically every race.
It still looks like the driver is sitting forwards with his head on the dashboard. The locked camera controls just makes the sim look so unavoidably unrealistic. If they want to make changes, the devs should start there.
Who is bankrolling all this anyway? Is it really a money laundering operation or what?
The camera is free to change for the drivers. James likes this view, it’s similar to what he uses in ACC
@@MadeoN Correct
@@Jaaames is it? I saw someone like Jimmy stream it and he couldn't set the camera up properly, making it look terrible like yours. Just looks like you've cranked the FOV up to Mars.
Who gives a shit how good or bad Rennsport is, it's only for a few elite esport racers. Maybe get back to racing on a sim that regular people enjoy like the ACC videos you use to do, not this thing that no one knows if it is going to be coming out. They should call it Project Cars 4.
100% I'll get back to playing other sims / games in the near future. I get the frustration💯 I thought this content was better than no content tho!
It is the sprint format that also creates aggressive driving standards.
100%
Rennsport still has no triple support. Someone know why??? Is it that hard to fix triple support?
Yeah, the ramming and lack of damage not only makes the quality of the racing worse, but frankly it also just makes the drivers look sloppy and unprofessional. The is supposed to be "high level" sim racing with people who are doing this professionally. If the racing product still ends up looking like some random Forza or F1 lobby, it just makes everyone involved look bad. The drivers, the organizers, the game...etc.
That same sloppiness is the reason why I have found Formula E hard to watch. The outcome of almost every Formula E race is to some extent determined by the end result of all the contact and crashes that happen. I know the drivers are skilled, but when you put that many cars, which are that fast, on a tight street circuit with basically high-end street tires it's basically guaranteed to end up looking like a hot mess.
That engine sound
Completely agree.. the contact left and right and driving standards made me quit watching the series all together.
Got sent a closed beta key a month ago for rennsport, can’t even bring myself to download, just looks so bad 😬
youtube compression is going to be some of that though.
This game looks worse graphically than the original Assetto Corsa. And I'd imagine also has worse FFB. No VR support or triple monitor support. Not sure what their plan is to gain marketshare, because esports isn't going to sell this game tbh. Doesn't look like the game is very performant, which is why I'm assuming all of the settings look like they are turned down. That's also ontop of using some form of upscaling (likely either FSR2 or DLSS) because I can see the ghosting artifacts that you get from such solutions.
When you are making supposedly an "ultra-realistic" simulator intending on recreating an existing real-world experience, having the handling be described as "unique" is quite concerning lol
To answer your question: yes, it's very bad to watch. Now that the novelty of the perpetual beta that is Rennsport has worn off, I have no interest in the actual game any more - especially since the revelations that you rightly don't even want to mention.
In summary, it's shit and we don't care about it any more. Bring back full-on ACC SRO series.
I just can't with sims that lock the camera down to the chassis.
Most esports guys have it like this on any game, easier to be precise and consistent with your driving. I agree tho it doesn't look immersive.
There's no mirrors at all? Or do the side mirrors load and they're just out of frame on other monitors?
It's because it's a replay. In the actual server I do have mirrors on, but the replay function doesn't have that feature yet.
It's like NFS racing 😂
What a sim😂
this 1st person cam is just like they put still image overlay rather than the car model
I would be interested in you opinion as to how to improve sim racing driving standards. While I understand that most incidents are not deliberate but careless driving or overly ambitious driving or risk taking in sim racing is due to lack of consequences.
As you have been a real race driver you are well aware of having accidents and the huge consequences that it has, for sponsors, for team owners, for car performance, the media focus and criticism, fans having a go and for the dreaded.....we won't ask you to drive for us again. You would know that after the excitement of getting a real drive is the thought that you don't want to make a mistake that wrecks the car or costs the owners money or cause yourself any embarrassment or shame. The pressure is because there are so many consequences. You want to drive fast and impress without making that big mistake. So you drive as fast as you can and try to avoid making mistakes. Lots of pressure and plenty of consequences.
The problem it seems to me is that sim racers take to many risks, especially at the start, because the rewards outweigh the risk so its worth taking. Even if you do hit someone chances are that the consequences won't be too bad.
The only thing I can think of is to introduce realistic accident damage that punishes the overly ambitious who run out of talent and the Baldwin who does nothing wrong. Pretty soon the overly ambitious risk taker will get sick of taking risk and drive more carefully and the innocent Baldwin will be voicing their disapproval of the driving standards of the dumb and the reckless. Especially when the same idiot seems to be involved in quite a few careless moments. Consequences are the community will shame the person into taking due care or get out of sim racing.
The reason that real damage would work is that it would be pretty obvious after a while that even minor risk taking has consequences and major ones will really motivate people to identify the wrecker.
As I say in the video, having damage on would clean up the racing a fair bit. There's definitely an underlying issue now amongst most drivers, where people can't accept they've been or are about to be overtaken. They'd rather have a collision than get overtaken.
I went on the rennsport website and it had autoplay music with seemingly no on-website way to pause or mute it.
Gross.
5:00 how does it look worse then runescape?
its like karting in terms of bumping and aggression i love it but its unrealistic
jesus even ACC doesnt look this bad on the lowest settings. Even youtube thinks this is Project Cars 1 😂😂
Yeah I dunno why it thinks it's PC1, weird af😂
it reminds me of Richard Burns Rally, graphics-wise.
Tbf the league racing standards on F1 23 have been pretty appalling too.. It’s definitely no better here though.. 😶
True, I was thinking F1 league racing has got to be up there too😅
Hey James, if I may ask, why do you almost always drive the AMG GT? Is it a matter of preference or is it something else?
He drives for AMG Mercedes.
He is part of the Mercedes AMG Esports Team, that's why
@@sanmiguel4019 Correct
I hand it to ya James and understand your frustration.
To be clear with the people judging the game graphics from this video, James clearly has the game on low settings with FSR enable, to achieve the 130 fps.
There are other youtubers with gameplay videos, where the game looks 10 times better.
Running about 10x slower too though!
It still looks so bad...
The "Win At All Costs" attitude is why I don't engage with e-sport sim racing. I mean, look at those cheating Williams fkrs, they got away with murder and next to no consequences.
No ta.
The F1 series League Racing is getting worse year to year. I'm not talking at ALL about open lobbies. That's different. PSGL, and WOR this season has had carnage. Absolute carnage on the Pro driver level in the WOR tier1 and PSGL PC F1. Go back and look at the highlights. I think is was Jeddah and like 11-13 drivers finished the race from a 20 car grid. Absolutely silliness.
And I believe in you James more than any other driver. I've been watching you since you jumped in F1 eSports driving for McLaren if I remember correctly. Thru ACC, and now Rennsport.
eSports sim racing is making some major mistakes which won't grow the sport but make it a niche sport!
It's already extremely expensive to build a quality sim rig and PC. Talking at least $4,000 to $5,000. More if you buy top tier equipment, monitors and gaming PC components. Hell one can spend 5k just on their PC with ease!
When I first found ACC I was absolutely blown away. I could get flat tires! I could blister and flat spot tires. I was forced to take certain racing lines cause if I went any further off track I would get a puncture! I could hop into any car and enjoy driving it with a few adjustments to the stock aggressive set ups! There were times using different fuel maps actually made you faster!!
All of that is gone! It's all about who can find the best tuning exploit. The idea of Sportsmanship is dead! It's only about winning the money and doing well for sponsors!
The way Rennsport runs their eSports events is disgusting and brings in luck as too big a factor.
eSports Simulation Racing should be about "Simulation Racing". All the great aspects of motor sports have been taken away as Sim racing has grown!
When I watch a eSports event I want to see every vehicle in the ass represented! I want to see each manufacturer have an advantage over another based on the track they're at.
The Bentley and AMD should have an advantage over cars like the McLaren in certain tracks and vice versa! But at the same time every car should be with in 1 or 2 tenths of a second of each other.
Contact! Contact in most motorsports Series is not only frowned upon but those who drive wrecklessly penalized harshly!!
There's so much potential and I feel ACC and Rennsport are going in the wrong direction!
ACC was on the right path but then all of a sudden they took a wrong turn with the 1.9 update and the flaws in the 1.8 update
I used to love getting on and driving for hours. Using Motec to find tuning cars to how I like them.
Now it's hop on. Pick one of 2 cars. Use max min settings and set tire pressures!! Motec data is meaningless and car set ups that should be undrivable make cars insanely fast.
I hope Sim racing gets down the basic fundamentals of any Sport! That's sportsmanship and fair play!
It would literally be super easy to kill the Exploits people use in ACC. Yet the developers refuse to make the changes.
They should also put the option to get punctures. They need to penalize people and teams for bad sportsmanship! And lastly they need to make simulation where strategy plays a 30% part in the event!
It shouldn't be all about going 8 fast laps or setting up a car so tires last 30 min before suffering any type of fall off!
Every event should see drivers lap times falling off as their tires get worn. Getting tire wear down isn't easy but it gotta be better.
Some good points here👍
looks like a karting race with all the bumping
Yep😂
What is unique about the driving style?
Why does it look like you’ve got 20 degrees of slip angle in every corner?
I have a question for you. As a professional driver in IRL and in sims, do you see a game like beamng drive having a future in competitive racing?
Honestly I've not played much BeamNG, so I'm not the person to ask tbf
@@Jaaames i definitely recommend checking it out when you have the time, maybe even making a video out of it. Would love to know how the game feels to someone like you

There’s no sense of speed here.

Doesn't happen often😉🤣
why are parts of the screen censored?
Some strategy I'm sureb
To hide inputs / data from competitors
what does this game offer that others don't already do a better job of?
Abu Dhabi Esport sponsorship backing. That's it. Iracing is better in just about every way imaginable.
the other drivers were playing bumper cars lol....
The good news is EA WRC is out soon
Yeah looking forward to that
lmaooo
Try this shit on a dirt track in the US and you gonna get your ass beat in the parking lot.
🤣
How come in Rennsport the Porsche is the quickest on the straight but in ACC it's relatively slow?
Probably different BoP
the 992 on acc is quick on the straight (not the 991)
Different game, different BOP, these small changes can result in this being the case.
The game looks seriously sub par in many ways to me sadly. Graphically it really sucks. I was interested, now I can't be bothered, Really struggling to understand the appeal of this title compared to many other options ??
There isnt any appeal for most anymore I think. Hype is over, they messed up communication wise, took them too long, expectations too high to what you actually get. None talks about this sim anymore besides ESL and thats just a massively subsidized right now. Viewers went down massively. I thought, with ESL on their Side, it might actually get big and become mainstream like other eSports genres, but wrong. I wonder when they will bring ESL R1 to an end, bcs right now it looks like a giant financial grave.
Personally I would like to see a semi-locked horizon. I don't like world dancing around so much, hard for the eyes. Even in real life the car moves a lot in your viewport.
nice autoscooter
is this game suppose to look like 2010 iracing?
I almost wish we could get away with a little more bumpage like that in ACC, but not if it leads to every T1 being a YOLO-send. As for the lack of natural penalties (damage) or applied penalties through live-stewarding, that's just one of Rennsport's many problems they'll need to fully sort if it'll ever match ACC, especially now that LFM is doing a custom-BoP for the go-to GT3 game. TL;DR come back to ACC we miss you! haha.
yes , next question
Standards just arent great in sim racing in general
Is it me sense of speed not seen right in this game ?
How are the graphics so bad?
Who’s this for then, if a real driver finds it unnatural to drive?
That sound is so aweful
Why do you hide your telemetry?
So competitors can't see it
@@Jaaames Yeah makes sense. Thanks for answering!
looks like wreckfest
At least here you do not go spinning every time you get in touch with another car like in ACC. But I agree car damage should be bigger - ideally similar to real life.
way the car handles looks and feels nothing like a gt3 really disappointed

Yes this is the game that was rumoured to have rFactor physics, quite a controversial topic atm.
@@Jaaames I cant imagine why or who thought that an e-sport event with that game would a good ideia. It is their money, so...
@@Jaaames And the mercedes feels something else in this game. In acc we can take curbs with it but not in that way.

Just seems like an overall dumb sim tbh. How have they made a sim with worse graphics than iRacing, worse contact model than ACC, worse driving/physics than AC (10+ year old sim) & just a stupid esports model? @@Jaaames Hello James Baldwin
It looks like trash tbh. Looks like a poor man's ACC
this game looks really really bad
This game is STILL BORING! All the hype has long subsided and it’s just ANOTHER mediocre “racing” sim. 🙄
Looks like the ACC crowd is going to change games. Stuff like this is why iracing will never die. Its the only place to get a decent race anymore. The cars with ABS and traction control are keeping people from improving at basic car control. You don't learn how to race properly by slamming on both pedals with no consequences.
Yeah the ACC crowd will be changing games to AC2 😂
You also don't go fast by slamming on both pedals, in ACC or any other serious semi-serious sim.
😅LOL, iRacing has the same Problem. None of the Sims out there are free of the Demolition drivers. And that's a fact.
Don’t GT3 cars have TC and ABS irl?
@@craigyirush3492 Yes they do, state of the art TC and ABS systems. The ABS kit from Bosch costs over $10k. iRacing players wouldn't know about it they have to deadzone their brake pedals to 80% so they don't lock up in the GT3's 😂😂😂
I don't know where all the hate to Rennsport comes from. I guess it's something intrinsic to the sim racing community because every time a new game arrives, it gets bashed like it was pure trash. It happened to ACC, it happened to rFactor for several years, It happened to AMS2... All three being fantastic and praised games now.
This game looks ugly 🫢
