- The Cinder Track parkrun is the only parkrun I've not run in Yorkshire and Humberside, so we set off to check it out. I'd saved this parkrun to run on Halloween weekend due to Whitby's connection to Dracula. Turned out it was one of the two annual goth weekends which meant that a visit to Whitby was even more worthwhile as the Halloween fancy dress was out of this world!
Although parkrun itself didn't have a huge amount of fancy dress the team was wonderful, the course was great, the Larpool viaduct was brilliant to run over, and we were even treated to a peacock and a steam train! It was the last weekend that the steam train is running until April as it stops for the winter, so we felt very fortunate to have seen it.
The Cinder Track parkrun is an awesome run... I do love out-and-backs for the social element. Seeing all of the other runners as you pass each other is so fun. I would definitely recommend a visit to this parkrun but just remember your cash for the cafe!

Love a choo choo parkrun - we had a viaduct where I lived in Germany, just as beautiful but it was still in use and no steam trains sadly. Thank you for sharing.

Cracking video Nicola, loved the suitably spooky music on the intro. Great fun with the costumes, although I spent the first half of the video wondering when Nike started making Halloween dresses 🤣🤣

Awesome video as always Nicola and some great costumes. Whitby is one of my favourite towns although yet to experience The Cinder Track parkrun - definitely need to rectify that soon!

A great video! We love Whitby but have never done the Cinder Track parkrun. There 2 Goth weekends every year - 2023's are 28-30 April and 27-29 October (always the Halloween weekend). If you're planning to stay over, do consider booking early!
Whitby is great isn't it?! You'll have to get yourself to parkrun there! It's the perfect combination 😃
Only been to Whitby once. Went up the hill to the amazing graves but never went on the viaduct. Will be back as some point. Best wishes.

Frustratingly, I only managed to do day 1 of the GRIM 4 marathons due to transport issues.
I did however run my own 26.2 miles with my twin brother on Saturday morning. Unofficial marathons do feel like ‘junk miles’ but never mind.

If you ever need somewhere to stay in Whitby the youth hostel by the abbey is lovely. We stay there on a school trip every year - I think you get free entry to the abbey with your stay too, but we never have time to go. (And the microbrewery there is lovely too)
