As you head out of Whitby on the A171 and before you cross the new bridge, the entrance to the school is on the right. (Or left if you are heading in the other direction)
Follow the road round around the building to get to the car park nearest to the field where the parkrun starts.
As you walk from the car park to the field, the Café and toilets are on your right just before you go through the gate onto the field.
Note: The Café only takes cash.
Once on the field the start is over on the far side of the field.
The finish is by the Oak tree which is also on the far side of the field.
The course starts on grass for around 100m. As you run on to the Cinder Track the surface is tarmac until you cross the viaduct.
Then the surface is very smooth compacted stone.
As it is a railway line, the incline on the way out is very gradual and is around 45-50m over 2k.
At the turning point, you head back the way you came.
You run past the point where you came on to the Cinder Track and continue for around 200m where there is a 'U' turn. You then head back to where you came onto the Cinder Track.
A sharp left turn takes you back onto the field and its a short 50m stretch to the finish.
The Cinder track and Larpool Viaduct
The Cinder Path is now part of the national cycle network (Route 1)
It was built in 1865 and closed in 1965.
Scarborough council bought the cinder track.
It is a 21 1/2 mile long, linking Whitby and Scarborough.
The Larpool viaduct has 13 spans and is 120 feet high.
    It spans the River Esk.

Thank-you for the informative video, I'm planning on attending Cinder track later in the year when staying in Whitby. I only came across your videos a few months back when you visited our home event Bradford parkrun in Lister park. I really appreciate your attention to detail with things that parkrun first-timers or tourists need to know, like car parking arrangements, toilet availability, payment methods in the coffee shop, etc. But also your mini-interviews with volunteers and the way you encourage people to get involved is great in raising the profile! Thanks and keep up the good work.....

Thank you. very kind words. I only started as I used to look for all the information myself, so though t why not create my own videos. I like to think they're getting better. I'm below 50 'errs' in my videos and I never thought i would be able to feature myself in videos let alone interview people.
