- Tractor Pulling - 800hp V16 Detroit Powered International Harvester 1086 doing a Full Pull at the Southern Tractor Pull Competition at the Mayfield A&P Show in Mayfield, in the Canterbury Region of New Zealand's South Island.
This is weight transfer tractor pulling. The aim is for the tractor to pull 80% of its weight for 100 metres, or 60% for the pre-85/old school class. As I understand it, the tractor being pulled shifts its weight on the sled from the rear to the front as it travels up the track to increase its total weight.

That's a beautiful well tuned machine! Got the job done without pumping out black smoke and wasting loads of fuel.
I was expecting to see it billowing I guess fuels too expensive to waste these days.
The engine is so big it doesn't need extra fuel.
As a international owner, I APPROVE OF THIS VIDEO!!! And im jealous!!!
I guess you're looking around for an old scraper to do an upgrade then :)
that's a brute !!
It sure is.
Great !
It is hope to see again some day.
he was trying to take the fendt home with him.. 😅
It would easily drag it all the way home. That would of been a sight.
That's a tough 1086. No Case to it. Just International.
Yip just International with a hint of Terex.
Good night nurse! What a tractor! 😇😂
It's quite a tractor alright.
That's it!!
Yip
I had a 1086 but it sure as hell wouldn't pull like that! That is an engineering nightmare... Is the transmission and rears factory?
Transmission is an Allison 4 speed not sure about the diff.
Mr.1086 how much power you need , Yes !
I think around 800hp is just right.
@@ScenicDriveProductions Yep its perfect and sounds awesome !
Sounds better standing a metre from it when it goes past you can feel the air sucking at you. I'm suprised it didn't wreck the microphone on my camera.
I like to that machine pull a plow!
It would get it done in no time.
I was wondering why he had the front tires half flat , then I got it
There's a bit of thought that goes into it. Usually the tyre pressure is lowered in the hope of gaining more traction which would normally apply to 4wd tractors for the front tyres.
@@ScenicDriveProductions for four wheel drives , yes . But in this case I think it's to lower impact when the front axle bounces . You see a lot of videos of front axles breaking when they come down , and that engine weighs 3 times as much as a 414 ih
That makes sense. I have learnt something new thanks.
It's like the old tractor-pulling joke goes.
Rear end: $35,000
Engine: $180,000
Frame: $45,000
Front axle: $25 garage sale riding mower.
That would be your starting point in America where it's more a professional sport. Hopefully it becomes more popular here some day.
