I still to this day don't understand all the Nickelback hatred. "How You Remind Me" is easily one of the greatest rock songs of the 2000s.

I used to like these guys. I kinda grew up on them but about a year ago I read up on them and discovered that they're music is based off a formula. They listen to the radio and if they hear a song they think will sell good they copy that song idea. its sad too cause I used to like them. but for me when I listen to music I wanna be able to connect to the artist on a personal level . but how can I do that when the music they write isn't even about them and its them just trying to earn a profit.
You could not be more wrong! How about posting the article you ''read up on them'', Saying ''they copy that song idea'' is laughable.
It's funny was it written by someone who actually understands music theory or in a big band or is a critic who basically has no musical experience? Yeah maybe musically and instrumentally it's off a formula the radio friendly songs, but with the stuff that doesn't play on the radio is not based off formula
Actually if you look up all the history of music as a whole you'll notice that basically that's how everyone does it, no matter the era. Thing is... Everyone adds it's own sauce (tone, effects, structures, patterns, mannerisms, etc.) and slowly but steady musical genres keep changing. Thats why you can add so much subgenres in music today: It just keeps evolving because of it's creative nature. Just as Nickelback, which might do that, but keeping with their own sauce, which is why you grew up on them!
