    One thing that this episode doesn't convey as well as the anime/manga does is that Usopp being a liar isn't a bad thing. In the anime, when no one believes that pirates are coming, Usopp's response isn't "Why doesn't anyone believe me?", it's "I have to stop the pirates, and make sure that everyone believes I'm still lying so that they live in peace as always". It makes him out to be a lot more noble in the anime, whereas here it's easier to mistake it as a boy who cried wolf scenario.

    Overall, I think I prefer the Syrup Village Arc in the live action, but I will say that Kuro's plan is marginally more coherent in the manga and anime, on account of him having had a hypnotist on his crew. So he planned to hypnotise Kaya into signing her fortune over to him. Incidentally, that's also how he faked his death - hypnotise Morgan into thinking he'd captured Kuro and hypnotise some rando into thinking he's Kuro for the execution.

    I like that Kuina states that no woman can beat a man.
    Two thoughts about that:
    1. This thought doesn't come really out of nowhere. In a competitive field where every disadvantage can get you killed, a statistic that says it is very likely that you will be smaller then your competitiors is pretty devastating.
    2. These days it so rare to see characters with real flawd world views (if they are on the 'good' side. villains etc. are obviously excluded). Nowadays it feels to me that characters are not allowed to be wrong, or flawd. IF you are supposed to like them, then they are not allowed to be multidimensional. Real people can be nice. but sometimes racist. Or they can be jerk, but care for animals, they can be teachers and yet have no interest in personal growth. This is most visible in those Mary-Sue-characters but is visible throughout modern media.
    I want more characters where I can say 'I like this character but this specific worldview is pretty fucked up."

    14:09 It's in the grave 14:12 YES she IS. But oda himself, the creator, hates how he killed her in the manga. While they animals pulled back on it, it will still a stupid way to die that meant absolutely nothing. The live action making you wonder HOW EXACTLY she died was done to remove that stupidity.
    But...While he DID remove the stoopid way she died...She still died. WHEN ONE PIECE KILLS SOMEONE, THEY ACTUALLY STAY DEAD...unlike other anime.

    Good theory on Kuina, but no, she's absolutely 100% dead. They explain in the manga & anime that she fell down the stairs and either broke her neck or fell onto her own sword. The purpose being to show that no matter how well-trained and skilled someone is at something, they can always be killed by some unforeseen and unavoidable accident.
    Also, pretty sure Kuro is gone by the end of the arc in the actual anime/manga. He either dies or gets arrested, I don't remember. Not sure why he didn't wind up tied up with Buchi & Sham, but whatever. He's not a threat anymore, probably.

      Re: Kuro, personally I have been wondering if they showed him escaping because they plan to have him take the place of one of the minor antagonists next season... (being vague to avoid spoilers, but there are a couple options where by having Kuro become one of a few antagonists, they could either add to backstory to a character without one or save on the CGI budget)

      @@KennyandLindsayWatch The reason for this is explainable.
      This show is all about dreams.
      Even the villains have dreams so rather then just killing them, Luffy is crushing their dreams and make them watch his dream become reality.
      It is like a contest of ideas how the world should be. The loser is not just about to leave but to see how the most proving concept succeeds.

    So that twist at the end took about 300+ episodes in the anime. Like it happened faaaaaaaar down the line, well past a lot of character growth and more. If I were to gauge when it could have happened in the live action then we are talking about probably season 4 or 5. In my opinion, the live action did that reveal so much better than the anime. Here it is during an exciting chase scene with Garp on their tail ready to fire. In the anime Garp just shows up while everyone is sitting around and says who he is. I wouldn't recommend looking that up to watch though because a lot would be spoiled. Just trust me when I say it was meh, and much better here.

    Alright, Kenny and Lindsay? Love your reactions! Yeah, the Kuina/Zoro issue... It's curious how many people talk about this passage that are so different in anime, live action, and manga. And its till now (I'm following the 1098 chapter launched this week) a closed matter in fact. You see, in manga she dies falling the stairs. And her body is showed at the ground with a handkerchief covering her eyes and a blanket covering her legs while people of the village keeps coming in awe and Zoro despairs. Her father, that is that sword master, talks to zoro about the life fragility, and Zoro ask for her sword and talk about their promisse. Her father understands and says while giving the sword "This is Wadou Ichimonji, wich meant The Path of Harmony, and for now on I'll give to you this blade with Kuina soul and wishes". When you understand the meaning of that to bushido where usually the sword is buried with his master (or broken in case of dishonour) you got how important is her death and her promisse to Zoro will. And her father trainned him in the next 10 years! Some manga covers show info about OP world and in two covers is shown Kuina father at her grave delivering flowers, incenses, and newspaper with Zoro news. So, yes she died unfortunally. But funny enough, the anime added a lot of "filler scenes" with her arguing with her father about the dojo inheritance,and they add the info of her fall reason was because she was going to sharpen her sword. So they include her sword on the picture than a lot of fans start to gossip about suicide. And for my surprise the live action put this passage even more strange.So I don't know if the author, thinking about the american public, are plotting something different to Kuina destiny.

      Fell down the stairs???? Booooooo lol. That is pretty wild, the change does make me think maybe they will do something else for the live action. Thanks for the info!

      @euclides9156 Před 8 měsíci +2

      @@KennyandLindsayWatch Yes its possible! You see in manga and anime Merry did not die. In anime he even tell Kaya about Usopp sad child wich explains why Usopp goes to any further to cheer Kaya since she lost her parents. In fact in anime Usopp is a lot more brave! He even punch Kuro. Other curiosity is that Garp didn't revel himself Luffy grandpa until episode 314. But I understand of course... If they are planning to do 12 seasons to take the entire work (we are in the last arc in manga) there had to be a lot of adaptations.

    • @YukoValis
      @YukoValis Před 8 měsíci +1

      The thing I always wonder is if Zoro ever blamed himself. I don't think he did, but in a weird way he might be to blame. She died falling down stairs trying to get a sharpening stone. Something she might have needed only because she was dueling with the sword. If he does at all blame himself he will never show it, but he will try hard to fulfill the dream. Also there is a bad rumor people like to spread about Kuina killing herself, but that rumor is completely unfounded.

    • @euclides9156
      @euclides9156 Před 8 měsíci

      @@YukoValis Yes, this rumors appears in anime when two random guys comment at her funeral "why a kid would do such thing" (about her going to sharpen her sword). Naturally the correct interpretation is this one that you mentioned: she keeps dueling with Zoro, so her meito needs maintenance (any butcher could tell that about blade use). But some people took as if this random guys did not believe the story. And considering her arguing about dojo inheritance they run the suicide hypothesis also associating with "fall of stairs" feeble explanation and cliche to domestic abuse. The thing is... In manga the accident is clear like water. LOL! But yes, about Zoro feelings, in mnga he blame Kuina for running from their promisse. But he was in despair, completely shocked and upset by her death.
