Then, later, coracles and other freight bearing craft on that same river but for a couple centuries of time passed. And now you, on your fine boat. Perhaps this series cornicles the progress of humans on this earth in a positive light.
Finally able to cruise once again with Arwen! Such a long, dismal wait. So happy, on this snowy winter day in northern Japan... Welcome back, and fair winds.

A nice leisurly shake down cruise for Arwen and her skipper - wonderful to see you out again on the water! Enjoyed your Orion nebula pictures - unexpected and beautiful. My 14' Arey's Pond catboat is still slumbering in the garage - far too cold right now in Connecticut, USA to be out on the water. Dreaming of May when I will finally launch her.
The declutter won't last....not one iota of shipshape tidy seamanship in my body...... whereas my engineering Dad.....now there is a model of perfectionist organisation 😄
My coffee shot out my nose when you confessed to forgetting your mizzen. Nice to see you out on the water so early in the season. Wish I was as hardy as you Steve! Good on you.
Great to see you out in The Sound again steve and kudos for such an early sail that’s inspired me to look to go early too glad the trailers working well and you now know how Arwen sails without the mizzen too (which seemed pretty good too )😎
Loads learnt as always. The trailer needs some getting used to and I need to work out how to get launching easier. Retrieval was a doddle although granted it was sheltered with no wind or tidal flow to contend with 🤔
Almost, I found the neatly sliced cheese back in the fridge...thanks to the boss ....and the mizzen was on the garage floor....I out it down there and then obviously got distracted elsewhere.... 🙄🙄🙄🙄😄
Hi Steve, It is really beautiful and amazing to start the sailing season in January! Unfortunately, I can forget my boat rigging and sailing much more, because I have to wait until spring. All the waters here are covered, at least partially, with ice, but too thin for iceboating. I would love to move to the area where the sailing season lasts 10 months or more! Greetings from Poland

There have been one or two lovely sailing days recently albeit with not much wind. Nice pic of M42, stacked image or a single long exposure? Tracking looks pretty good 👍 I must get some of my AP kit out!
hey Phi - how are you doing? M42 was stacked image using ioptron skywatcher pro > if I remember it was something like 40 x 45s ISO 800 F/4 at 180mm with 25 darks and 25 flats. I have just ordered a star adeventurer 2i wifi pro pack to upgrade my payload. And I am hoping to persuade the boss to let me buy a samyang 135 F/2 towards the end of the year!
Sounds like you have a good portable set-up, useful for going out to dark sky's. I use an EQ5 mount permanently mounted on a pier with a skywatcher 130pds. Unfortunately I am not so resistant to the cold as I used to be! Have used the winter to get an extra reef in my mainsail, not put the lines in yet to make it usable. But must admit that I was surprised that I eventually remembered where all the bits of rope went when I reconnected it to the yard and boom etc.
The boots are full tall ones and a couple of sizes too big for me so I can fit a couple of pairs of socks in them or so I kick them off easily in an emergency. Only my second pair in fourteen years...love them. Sallies are musto BR1 I think. Only tend to wear them in winter and if really inclement weather. Again serve their purpose well.not breathable so I can get hot in them and only one pocket.

I've enjoyed watching your videos. I had a similar problem launching my Drascombe lugger from the trailer. I found the Drascombe video for single handed launching very useful; especially the back winching option - czcams.com/video/nOUnu2U4lUk/video.html. It might work for your boat.
