Typing is really fun. I remember starting learning touch typing just one year ago. My speed was literally 18 wpm. Now it's approximately 100 wpm. The highest speed was 130 wpm on this website.
I was stuck at 100 wpm in monkey type. So switched to typeracer and later came to monkey type with a whopping speed of 148wpm.
Monkeytype is basically for Raw and their stats does not matter. Typeracer, nitroracer, 10fastfingers are comparatively more close to actual typing experience so practicing on these help a lot.

Here the speed is good .But the actual speed will depend if you have comma, question marks , upper letters etc in your pad.Your speed will be high in flat scripts just like here.
Exactly. Punctuations, numbers and symbols have tendency to slow down typing speed to even up to 50%.

Started touch typing 4 months ago and although I've reduced my practice time, I'm at 65 wpm. 100wpm was always the goal so hopefully i get there soon

@@user-xw5tn5py8y bro, go for accuracy forget speed. Then eventually increase speed. My time wastage was keep hitting backspace due to mistakes .
Second tip, use ctrl+backspace for deleting a whole word.

Thanks for the tip, I went from 105 to 120 in no time. Even though it felt slower, I was surprised that I scored 120wpm. On typeracer, I find that my max speed can be at 150wpm but because of the mistakes and blunders, I fall to below 100wpm. It's so frustrating...

i have a custom mechanical keyboard with gateon yellows (ks3x7) it's a 40% layout so its really small, i can reach the entire keyboard with one hand. i'd have to press really hard to reach speed like 153wpm, otherwise i'd just be at 120ish wpm
I never learnt touch typing but I used to practice on typeracer and now when I checked my speed on monkeytype, I reached 114wpm

Isn't this speed possible with membrane keyboard?? I try hard but 40-45 wpm is my average on my membrane keyboard!! It's been over three months I started touch typing, Any advice?
It is , but it's a bit easier and less exhaustive on these mech keyboards. Keep practicing !
Keyboard doesn't matter i love to type on my laptop's keyboard. I think membrane one feels good when u type fast no unnecessary sounds.
70wpm with 100% acc gives u more satisfaction than 100wpm 95% acc. In future that 70wpm changes to 140wpm without you knowing. We all know this but we dont follow anyways...

Able to get 120-125 easily on these words as these are easy words if you really want to improve you speed then just select the quote option in top and start practicing as now you will get proper words with capitals and all the punctuations including some tough long words.

I was not able to cross the 90 wpm barrier, I used to touch type but did not use more than 3-4 fingers.
I switched to home row method and adjusted some strokes to fit my style while using 9 fingers.
Within 2 months I was able to hit speeds up to 170-180 WPM and average 130-150 WPM.
Since then I never looked back to improve my typing speed any further.

The only thing that is hindering you from increasing your typing speed is not building the right muscle memory and returning back to the home row. Usually people tend to forget hand placement after they type keys at extremes like p,q, . and , Always find.your way back to home row. And PRACTICE. Atleast 20 mins a day. Hope this helps
@@ronymundackan Yes my hand placement sometimes get wrong when I type the keys q, p, x and z but that is not very often coz when I need to type these keys I slow down my speed, the main problem key is the backspace because 4 out of 10 times I hit the equals key instead of the backspace key and I also struggle a lot to use the ctrl+backspace, so I end up hitting backspace several times which also slows down the speed. Therefore the only finger which is holding me back is the pinky finger and I need to work on it.
@@AkashGupta-rw4vm Brother try practicing in Ratatype. It doesn't allow backspace. In my opinion this boosts your accuracy to a whole new level,(but it is really hard tbh) literally you won't even think of backspace.

Personally, I don’t like using the homerow method. I’m in middle school and I use a method for gaming where I keep my fingers on the w,a,d, and pinky finger on the shift key. My record is 170 (175 raw) using this and I’ve just enjoyed it a lot better than the homerow method.
