Girls ! I am a 66 years old lady and when I retired a few years ago I was so happy of getting rid of the «to do lists» and of the heavy daily programs. But guess what ? Right on : I still have a «to do list». We all have to wash our face every morning, don't we ?..But the daily program is less heavy now. But still... life runs fast and there is always so many things we want to do, including relaxing, shutting up and reflexing about what is this thing called life. You are both so wise and funny and yes...even old ladies like me can find wisdom in your weekly conversations. Happy Easter vacations, girls !

I resonated with your post and got such a chuckle when they didn't know who Casey Kasem was...time is marching on and on...he was BIG BIG BIG back in the day! If we wanted to 'tape record' (ripping and burning and downloading weren't invented, yet) songs from the radio to our cassette deck, we knew we had a chance during his Saturday a.m. syndicated countdown.

DJs actually have a lot in common with interior designers, except one works in an auditory medium and one works in a visual / spatial medium.
When you design an interior, you pick a color scheme and pick pieces of furniture and decor with a theme (like mid-century or boho, or whatever) that fit together to make a cohesive interior, like when a DJ designs a set, they pick songs of a certain tempo and style (like house, disco, funk, salsa) that sound good together to make a cohesive set.
Just like you need to pick pieces that vary in color, texture, height, and shape to make a room look visually appealing, but also function practically, a DJ picks songs that vary in tone, intensity, and rhythm, but also mix together.
Both a well designed room and a well mixed dj set will have a good "flow".

Regarding dreams: I’m a clinical psychologist 🤓 and primarily work with teens and young adults. Your thoughts that dreams are a place to process emotions is spot-on in terms of one theory of the function of dreams. As you said, it’s not what’s actually happening in a dream, but the emotional take-home from the crazy ride we’ve just involuntarily taken ourselves on (thanks, brain! …f*#@er!). Likely, dreams have multiple functions (consolidate memory, assist problem-solving, etc). We do a lot in our daily life to distract ourselves from negative emotions and dreams may inoculate us (like mental vaccines!) to the fact that a feeling is just a feeling, it’s not as actually dangerous as we experience it - dreams can help us adapt to negative states and feel less threatened by them in our waking lives. I know I’m not speaking to traumatic re-experiencing or paranormal dreams in this comment, but just normal stress/anxiety/guilt/loneliness content. Love the podcast! You two are magic together!

I have had some pretty horrific sleep paralysis episodes that have had a real demon-y flavor and I feel like it usually is related to high levels of stress that I'm ignoring. I resolved the episodes with a combination of relieving stress and scolding the demons into submission. You gotta get real ornery and go "we're not doing this" and like mean it. It's a combo of acknowledging that it is more than likely your brain being mean and ridiculous and also saying on the off chance of some real supernatural activity I will get petty and hire a witch to banish you, don't play with me. It's worked so far, I haven't had an episode in several years. I may have to sternly reprimand an ominous feeling from a shadowy corner here and there, but overall I feel less haunted. I am also aware that this sounds fully insane but I am kind of playing the angle of I will not be bullied by my own brain or some supernatural being so if you are going to be a problem, I am going to be a solution. Good luck dude, spicy demon dreams are horrendous.

noooooooo ive been mispronouncing lackadaisical as well! 😭
but upon googling, the history of this is actually quite interesting. one theory is that in modern language we've possibly linked it to feeling "lax". but also there seems be the colloquial phrase, "Alack a day!" shortened to "lackaday" from the 17th century, expressing disappointment or sorrow. Then morphed into more modern take "laxadaisy". also wildly enough, this is also where the phrase "oopsy daisy", "upsy daisy", and such, stems from 🤓

The meditation music/sounds may be contributing to the sleep issues. Binaural beats and similar sounds are intended to be mind-altering (meditative). Meditation isn’t inherently positive or negative, it depends on what you’re meditating on. You might be opening yourself up to negative/dark energies without realizing.

Oo, glad you mentioned the sock pads again, Caroline, because I kept meaning to comment on that podcast episode to let you know: I have the same thing, it is real, you are seen, it is in fact the worst part of winter, it does indeed suck, and a cheaper alternative for you exists: FOOT DEODORANT. Hear me out. Just regular antiperspirant, but applied liberally to the feet. Really helps me, anyway. Also: wool socks over cotton, sock changes throughout the day, and washing the feet (like washing your hands) with soap and warm water when they get too clammy and cold. Stay strong, hero.

I've dealt with sleep paralysis since I was a child. I've now as an adult learned what helps me with it. When it happens I immediately start praying help from my angels or/and start thinking about love. I also try to be calm. Usually that makes it go away quickly or it transforms into a lovely astral experience.

Totally relate to the night anxiety, I've been dealing with it off and on the last few years, even though I live with my husband who (over confidently?) promises to defend me from danger. The only thing I find helps sometimes is to zoom out and envision you and your house like in your neighborhood, then think about all your neighbours in their houses doing things, people and cars going by on the street etc. I find this takes me out of fear bubble a little bit. Hope this improves for you soon!

Tell me a kid didn't write that?
YES! St. Jude's feels so exploitative!!! I work with hospitalized kids every day and I can't imagine people shoving a camera in their faces. I work at a research hospital and that is not something we do. Sometimes there are kids featured in articles, but the St. Jude's ads are so disturbing.

So I just found this, so I'm sorry for reacting to an old video... I never saw the St. Jude ads because I don't get ads on CZcams, but I'm familiar w/the ads from many years ago (Marlo Thomas), and I can say for 100% certainty that Jen Anniston has had a relationship w/the founder's family going back to her childhood. Marlo Thomas (who not only played her mom on "Friends", but who is also the daughter of Danny Thomas, the founder). Jen has also donated millions to them. This can be looked up online. I know this was also written up about in Variety a few yrs ago. However I can't speak about children being potentially exploited but I do know they're a officially a charitable organization, and I'm also not sure about what claims you have about the "c-suite employees" either. But know about Jen's relationship with the founders and her work has been voluntary. I also know they are a research hospital and they also do not charge for care or for the parents' housing if they choose to stay with their children there while in their care.

Casey Kasem was definitely the Ryan Seacrest of the second half of 20th century, but sooo much more. He absolutely was Lebanese, and so beloved.
I think the mispronunciation of lackadaisical is totally ok to blame on your teacher! There is another CZcamsr who was a teacher and she says the word, jewelry as jewlery, and all I can think of is all the little bitties running around saying, “But mom, Miss So n So says it like this, and she’s a teacher!” 🤦‍♀️ Of course I didn’t correct her, it’s rude. If I was her friend, I would, but as a subscriber of a channel that is not about education, it’s really not my place.

St. Jude's is purportedly for all children, whether or not they can afford their treatment. This could/would only exist in a country that refuses to join the rest of the world with universal health care. Here in Canada you don't need to "AFFORD" health care. We just receive it. ALL of your health care is profit-driven.

I only know lackadaisical because it was an SAT word. Another word I notice a lot of people mispronounce is "supposedly." Many people pronounce it "supposaBLY."

Creepy late comment, but has Caroline changed or started taking new medications? I know my SSRI's started my sleep paralysis and nightmares, when I switched meds the dreams stopped. Love this podcast by the way!

Love the podcast! It's awesome you're on CZcams now!
I never normally comment on anything anywhere, but please get a new bed or look into getting some sage or something to try and clenze the energy in your bedroom! Not sleeping well is so bad for over all heath in so meany ways!
Maybe try sleeping on the sofa in the living room for a night and see if that helps?
Supernatural stuff freaks me out so bad! My cousin had a few spirits or whatever they are move into her house and one waysshe said worked to get rid of one was to ask it to leave and another pissed her off so bad cuz it was messing with her sleep she just screamed at it and told it to f*off and it went away (she lived next to a graveyard)

There's like 20 minutes of nothing at the end of this video. And yes i did listen to all of it just in case there was some secret content that only die hard fans will get to see. Ha! Jokes on me. Also, I'd do it again.

RE “taking crazy rants seriously”: I have a similar humor style and I call it doing “bits” and I prefer a dry style so I have had major issues saying ridiculous things because I find it funny and assuming that sarcasm can be inferred and having new friends think I’m a very dumb person 🤷‍♀️ that’s the game.

Also, I'm from Spain and I've been living in the US for 13 years and the first time I ever heard the word lackadaisical was in Caroline's video. I had to add subtitles to figure out how to spell lackadaisical so I could google what it meant and I didn't even noticed it was mispronounced, so there's that 🤣

Hahaa we ALL learned it as “laxidasical” !! It just sounds better than lackadaisical 😂 F those critics! I’m gonna keep saying it wrong.
We must’ve heard it on tv? Or did they just teach it that way? How did we all get it wrong?! Hahaaa super funny

Sorry for the spam comments. I also had paranormal nightmares and my sisters and I had a ghost in our room (also came in with some object) and the ghost intervened one night and the nightmares stopped. My point is you need another ghost to stop the mean one. I don't remember being afraid of the good ghost. But that was a crappy week. It only stopped when the room ghost intervened. This isn't meant to be actual advice. Just what happened to me. Please don't attempt to get another ghost. That's how you get Amityville Horror.

Lol love Jason Mraz because of that
His Mr A-Z album title is so mf corny, and his song Wordplay is so representative of the kindergarten thing lmao sounds like a song we'd get in english class or something. He's got bangers on bangers tho, Butterfly is so good, it's so groovy
Also love that the pod is on yt. i've been listening on spotify while walking and will probably keep doing so but i like to have a box to put my comments in, because i don't use instagram that much

Caroline what did you say about why you have emotions in Dreams?
You are being torn - pulled into an over scheduled life.
Maybe try to create some space to be reflective and not feel pulled apart?
