Because I live in a foreign lands I knew almost nothing about this fine man, I did hear his voice a few times on the radio years ago then my wife told me about the passion of t his man so I checked on the internet and the first thing I came across was Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh speaking about hurling but to me he was speaking in poetry fashion, I immediately know that his man was a poet, a storyteller a historian of the sport of hurling that he dearly loved, To my way of thinking Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh was the Michael O’Hehir of Hurling commentary. Rest in eternal peace

One of his great quotes "Pat Fox has it on his hurl and is motoring well now, but here comes Joe Rabbitte hot on his tail… I’ve seen it all now, a Rabbitte chasing a Fox around Croke Park!"

Thank you for telling me this story, it is brilliant and most likely it was not rehearsed, those rare people who are blessed with great imagination, use of words and wit have the skill to think in the moment in time and say something that was never heard before, the very great Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh and the very great Phil Lynott had something in common, they were both poets and wordsmiths of the finest order
