Homeschooling... but as a drug commercial

- Ever wondered what homeschooling would look like in a medicine commercial format? Well, here is your chance to find out! Let me know which part offends you most as a homeschooler, and I'll tell you my answer.
The inability to tell which grade you are in! YES!! 😂
Then if you add dual credit 🤦🏻♀️ too much explanation
I know! “What grade I’m in?” “I’m in….. somewhere after 9th, but before college.”
@@playthrugames that grade is called “homeschooled” 😂
@@playthrugames How it plays out: my kid tries to explain that he is in saxon math 5/6, but wordlywise 7. Thoroughly confusing the person who asked, "What grade are you in?"😅
@@shr19964 I know! “Well, I’m in 3 different grades if you based it off of my textbooks. If you based it off of the grade I’m actually in? I don’t know. Maybe take the average of the textbooks grades?”
The "ability to eat vegetables" and lost of snow days is too real 😂
The truth is funny 🤷🏻♀️
Tbf, remote "learning" has killed the snow day for all kids.
Don’t forget chickens as the gateway drug to homesteading…. 🐓
There is a severe lack of chickens I have to say… maybe I’ll have to do a part 2 🤷🏻♀️
Fr i had 0 chickens when I started homeschooleing in 7th grade now it’s April and I just finished 9th grade with 55 hens and 6 roosters
@@sarahsandy7364 that’s crazy 😂 we had to get rid of ours recently since we moved.
Or ducklings!😄
Also being really good at a random instrument for no reason
That’s a good one!
My 18 year old plays a mean ocarina…
@@kirbyourenthusiasm I have three ocarina that I used to love playing. Oh, for the return of those idyllic days.
Ocarina homeschoolers represent!
I start to learn to play the pipe organ about 1.5 ago it’s so random but I can play it.
"Graduating early" and "working at Chick Fil A" lol
Yeees! Former homeschooler here: went out to chick fil a with a bunch of my college friends, a bunch of my friends’ younger siblings were working there so I kept saying hi to them and my friends were just like, “do you know everyone here??” and I had to explain the unofficial requirement that all homeschoolers must work at chick fil a or know someone who does
As a lifelong homeschooler, I can relate to the inability to tell which grade you’re in or “we don’t really do grades”.
I once mixed up my age at airport security🤣
Memorization of the entirety of VeggieTales it’s genuinely the truest fact in the world
Absolutely 😂
We actually own multiple copies of the veggies on vhs and quote them daily!
“Homeschooling is a program for both involved and aloof parents-you just make it up”💯😂
I mean that in the most respectful way 😂
@@thesilverarrowok then.
@@cherylcarlson3315 honestly! I was homeschooled and loved it!!

Yep
We now need a public school drug commercial 😂
As a 100% homeschooler myself, I’m not sure I could accurately do such a thing without being too offensive 😂 But please feel free to take the idea and run with it!
@@thesilverarrow Great answer. Very politic and without using curses!
@@goldengryphon That's your experience? My homeschooling friends (me included) never use swears! Meanwhile the public schoolers... lets just say their the reason why I'm allowed to watch the movies I watch!
@@TheMostBloatedOfBitterflies Public school kid, here. Yeah, I use a lot of swearing and curses when I talk about the state of public education in my lifetime.
I have heard homeschooled kids "swear" but they tend to be more creative about it. I knew one who used flavors of ice cream - "What the mint chocolate chip is going on?" and so forth.
So, while I enjoy hanging around the homeschooled kids in my family, now on the second generation of homeschooling, I find the humor in their creativity compared to the kids in public school and their use of more Saxon "sentence enhancers".
@@goldengryphon Thats about my experience :D Although by swears I meant more like curse words and foul language!
Lack of socialization / Extreme socialization is so real. Also love how it's the first thing people ask about with homeschooling 🤣
Yeah, they just can’t comprehend that we can be actual people without public school 😂🤦🏻♀️

I have taken this drug my whole life, and *now* I'm just learning about the side effects? Why don't they label these things?!
As a homeschooler....yes, I am experiencing the side effects greatly. I'm taking the Dual Enrollment drug for said side effects
Thankfully, homeschooling side effects are the best kind of side affects!

Wow I don't recall giving my permission for you to make a video based on my life 😂😂
Well, I never expected such an unsocialized being to know how to work CZcams…
On the other hand, here's public schooling for the last century or so.
"The evil is most serious with young children because of their youth. Many of them, while making good progress in the three R's, outgrow their tendency to ask questions and to raise objections, in other words lose their mental boldness or originality, by the time they have attended school four years. But all along, from the kindergarten to the college, there is almost a likelihood that the self will be undermined while acquiring knowledge, and that, in consequence, one will become permanently weakened while supposedly being educated. In this respect it is dangerous to attend a school of any grade."
--McMurry, Frank M. ( Morton). How to Study and Teaching How to Study (1909)
The key is to overcome the idea a child must be broken to the classroom and inculcated with "school helplessness"
Also the snow days one is so sad but sometimes I get lucky and the internet will go out during a snowstorm so I don’t need to do schoolwork
We had offline curriculum so we never had that. X'O
Every day was a snow day for my son. Slept in til was rested. No bus to catch.
Did school work in his pajamas. Well I guess they go to school in them now. But you know what I mean.
@@whereswaldo5740 that’s true 🤷🏻♀️ guess it depends on your perspective
I love that they added both lack of socialization and extreme socialization since it really depends on the family and we always get those “unsocialized” comments from unknowledgeable people.
Also “extreme love of Princess Bride” is spot on 😂
So true! It depends on the family and if they’re in a homeschool group and how big it is and a ton of other factors!
And yes 😂 a very homeschooler movie haha
@@thesilverarrow I would say just depends on the activities you are in. We were part of a homeschool group before I was in HS but in HS we weren't (after moving) and we still had a ton of activities we participated in
@@ciannacoleman5125 for sure! That’s one of my favorite things about homeschooling, it’s all different and catered to what you need/are interested in!
Okay, this is very true... We're smart. But not very good with our own age groups. Old people love us though!
f, so legit. i don't really have friends outside of my dad's rando female acquaintances who are all 50+
I liked this! I'm homeschooled now online on online courses and "the inability to tell what grade you're in" for me it's like I got put in 10th grade at this online school not for any good reason but I feel more like a 9th grader because I am supposed to be a 9th grader this year of school, like how I started out this year before homeschool! And I also wanted a job at Chic Fil A while I'm homeschooled, so one of those symptoms is like contagious..
They spread fast 😂
i would hire a homeschooler over all others
This might be the funniest thing I’ve watched in way too long, a very long list of adjectives cut short, it’s awesome!
Thanks so much!!
My mom quit teaching in the 90's to homeschool us. When my brother went to college one of his teachers said " I can tell you're homeschooled, because you can actually socialize with adults." 😆. My older sister only homeschooled a year, but she was determined to not put her kids through public school, they're all homeschooled. I tried putting my oldest in public school, it was a failure. We pulled him out a month or so into first grade. My brother and SIL just had their first and have already decided to homeschool all the way.
I LOVE THIS! as a homeschool co-op kid, i think it’s hilarious seeing how others see us! though it is untrue in some cases (and true in many others 💀) it is so funny to me! keep up the great work!
Thanks!! I was actually homeschooled all my life (I’m out of college now), so I understand both the pain and the comedy in the way people think of homeschoolers 😅

Yo! The job at Chick-fil-A! Today was my last day there… and I’m homeschooled 😮
Ah! It’s such a good job!!

How did it take me this long to realize that "Intense love of the Princess Bride" absolutely is a homeschool thing?
😂
I was homeschooled partially and went to school partially - I have to say, homeschooling created some very unique memories that I will NEVER forget and surely cherish long past my parents’ deaths

With how well this was received I guess I have to 😂 I appreciate the encouragement!!
The veggie tales got me 😂
I genuinely love how home-schooling hasn't changed since year 2000.
Accurate 😂 but I am 26, so my homeschooling experience may have been more 90s kid compared to today’s homeschoolers.
Love the “ability to socialize with any age”! It’s so true😂 and I have been pinpointed by strangers as a homeschooler for that exact symptom!🤪
That’s one of the perks for sure 😂
Absolutely delightful!! Our children are now all adults. I miss homeschooling them. We had some good times together.

The homeschool i did for like half a year was literally just typing (Both my parents were teachers pets and liked typing class for some reason)
There IS a curriculum, and there are standardized tests to be sure your homeschool student is keeping up. You can find out more through your individual state's department of education website.
Agreed! I was just taking the stereotype and portraying it in a comedic way! I’m not saying these things are true.
This is hilarious😂😂😂😂😂 love it!

I was homeschooled for the last three years of my education. It was year around too. The only time I got out of school is when I passed out from a high fever. Thankfully I recovered quickly staying at home in bed.

@@thesilverarrow yessir- uh, ma'am.
@@obsessedstar I’ll have to add that to the next one 😄
Honestly, the idea that homeschooling is to *avoid* learning particular topics rather than to *encourage* additional learning is the worst part; I know lots of parents homeschool their kids to avoid having them learn stuff but it's honestly sad. And I would never work at the land of homophobic chicken; my two master's degrees since finishing my 12 years of homeschooling made sure of that. That being said, this is still quite accurate; I can quote The Princess Bride from start to finish!
From my experience as a homeschooler and working at numerous homeschool conferences, most parents who homeschool their children do it because they have their child’s best in mind. In addition, most states have certain requirements for homeschoolers, so you can’t just avoid Math, Science, English, or whatever else just because you want to 🤷🏻♀️
I just compiled the major homeschool stereotypes I know about for this video. I’m not saying they’re exactly true. Either way, they certainly aren’t meant to be blanket statements. There are many types of homeschoolers, and I’m not trying to make a judgment on any of them. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Homeschooling and public school, private school too probably have pros and cons.
Great video

In Canada you have to use and follow a government approved cirriculum. Students must attain computer literacy. In many cases the student must travel to a government centre for proctered testing. and to drop of work.
That’s interesting. Lots of states in the US have similar requirements 🤷🏻♀️ I grew up in TN and we had to do testing in a public school several times.

Snow days aren't even a thing in public school anymore. Now they zoom instead of getting the day off, and teachers still have to go into school to do the zoom.
Longer days, more hours, less vacation time and more money is NOT going to make public school better.
Homeschooling is the way to go. Until people realize homeschoolers know more, are better focused, are extremely stable individuals, and more people homeschool so there's less money going towards public school, there won't be any changes to the public education system.
