      Sadly, Nissan ceased to be in 2003. They were acquired (along with Mitsubishi) by Renault. That spelled the end of the cool, stylish, but most importantly reliable, well performing era.

I never knew they were modular! The speakers in the back are reminiscent of the tail lights. You're right about Nissan. They had some awesome vehicles late 80s early 90s!! I still love the 240 SX, 300 ZX (Amazing)! Thanks for this review, it was totally 80s! BTW, what aerial footage is that you have of a Florida beach? It looks so dirtly. These cars are not as light as you think. The curb weight was in the high 2800's believe it or not. Had a lot to do with the equipment it came with, and the strengthening of the rear C-pillar. The hatch being removable, and could be driven with it removed. As such, it required strengthening in that area which added weight.

    Money talks. They built all these cars and everybody went for the more boring practical cars.
    The market for the interesting stuff is really small.
    All these automakers in the 90s and 2000s were at a point where they offered all sorts of stuff but everybody went for the new crossover.
    So they trimmed out the fat that nobody really cares for on their books.

      Ahh a man of culture! My first car was an 89 Probe. Then I eventually got a 96 GT. The Probe most definitely did allow you to pop up the headlights and leave them up. All pop up head light cars did. It was a requirement by law as they would freeze in colder climates and get stuck closed.
      On the probe the light switch had three positions. The first raised the lights, the second turned on the parking lights, the third turned on the headlights.
      On the 89, one only had to turn the switch to the parking light mode, and turn off the vehicle. The parking lights would turn off on ignition off, and the lights would stay up. 👌🏽

Why they didn’t offer that engine as an upgrade amazes me. I have a Pulsar with a CA18DET in it and she hauls ass when that boost hits.

      @LynxStarAuto Před rokem

      This lower trim (xe) only had the 3 speed auto. The 4th gear (overdrive) was only on the higher trim se model.

    Toyota's used to be borning cars, but now Nissan has gotten boring. Unfortunately, since Renault took over Nissan. their quality has gone downhill and they have those horrible unreliable Jacto CVTs

    As a gay man who came out in the late 80’s, I can assure you that the Nissan Pulsar was very popular with women and gay men. I knew a couple of guys that owned one. Straight men wouldn’t be seen dead in one of those back in the day. Looking back, they are definitely fun little quirky cars that are rarely seen in northern states anymore.

      As a 20 yr old in ‘01 who’s first car was a Pulsar NX, cruising through the college campus with the top off, my shirt off, listening to Hadaway’s “What is Love” and other sweet techno/dance beats, I always wondered why I couldn’t get a girl. It is only in my older years I understand why 🤣
      I own 3 of them today and I would totally be caught dead in one of these but the shirt stays on, my teenager body has long departed this world.
