i used to use a KP3 for catching audio off my mixer fx aux send but now I use an sp404mk2 cuz the kaos pad had an electrical problem. I will buy a new one if korg made a kp4. My ipads are ran through an iconnectivity audio4+ which lets me merge audio and midi BETWEEN two ipads, but if I use three ipads they still stay in sync via wireless link midi sync. They run out the back of the audio interface and directly into a mixer track where they each have an aux send to the sampler then I have a splitter which runs a copy of the audio out back to the audio interface ( aux send on that track off) so I can main mix out into an ios DAW such as Cubasis or Beatmaker3 or even Korg Gadget. I really skip around but I usually only use one app at a time. It sounds complicated but with the audio interface i can seemlessly merge ios and mac or pc or ios with ios, and combine everything out of the mixer to a sampler then back to wherever, as LONG as I am cautious of feedback loops it is the best thing to have a nice mixer with an fx send and an interface that can merge two computers/ipads And have a sampler on the fx send but run a splitter on that fx send to send a separate copy of the fx send back to the audio interface, again, as long as you cut the line out on that device when recording so you dont feedbackloop…. Its worth noting I do not use laptop daws, I only use the laptop for a few synths like massive, fm8, alchemy or playing my hundreds of loops I captured from the KP3…. Allllllll DAW stuf is done on iOS cuz it can go in my backpack with the SP404 and or bed, couch, train, park….

I have this device and I fully agree with you that this device brings a lot of value for use with an iPad or iPhone.
It is basically the best audio-midi interface for the iPad and among the most compact ones besides bringing a very cool vocal processor with a looper.
I was lucky that a random splitter I bought on Amazon did work.
The mix-in port is unfortunately but understandably routed to the output without digital conversion. It would have been cool to also have a this stereo input routed to the sound card, but I guess it would be asking too much on utility features for such device.

Can't you use the E4 as an audio interface like the others Aira Compact from Roland? Isn't it possible to get the sound out from the iPad into the E4 through the USB-C cable?

So why you need to bring back the audio with this splitter?? Cant you direct the usb audio to put fx on it?? @@krazywabbit

What happens if you feed an ext audio signal in to the main mic input? Does it work if you make sure the level isn’t too high?

      It does

@@krazywabbit that is good to have verified. I want to add one into my synth/guitar workflow sometime.
