As someone that takes care of their cousin who has late state dementia, your father is brilliant, still hanging on to the smarts. You’re quite good yourself
Dan is only in his early 50s let’s hope he’s still doing fine for many many years. Aldo I have sadly known some who have had early onset dementia & Alzheimer’s in early 50s😢😢😢
Dan, I admire your ability to wait silently while your father struggles to find the word he wants. I need to follow your lead and do this more often with my Mum. I am too quick to offer suggestions of words. You continue to educate and inspire me. Thanks.
If we jump in too soon it interferes with their thought processing. My husband has aphasia from a stroke and it's often tempting to produce the word to hurry things along. He will ask for help when needed though.
That was my thought while I was listening at their conversation. I’m too quick at offering suggestions. I will try to improve that in my conversations with my 95 years old mum.
I love his little laugh he does so often! He has a heart that everyone needs. There's one thing for certain and that's the love and concern for all of his family.
Amazing. Ed has so much love and care for his family. Your parents raised amazing kids, it shows with your love( and of course Danielle's too) and care back to your parents.
This is definitely getting harder for grandpa. I love how patient and understanding you all are with him. That's so important, and you were able to ease his mind. I can not express how much I commend you, Dan, and your entire family for your composure in dealing with him!
Think Ed meant vocation. 4k+ miles away yet I feel attachment to your family. Its a wonderful feeling too. God bless you all. Blessings from England 🇬🇧 🙏
Ed is the best father ever in spite of the dementia!! And Dan is the best son ever for his patience and love he honors is dad with!! Although this is sad in some ways for Ed, Dan is always right there helping his dad sort through his confusion!! Love this father/ son interaction !! Thank you Dan for being so understanding with your dad!! Truly commendable! ❤ 💙 ❤
You’re an angel. Thank you for all your patience with Dad. You’re both wonderful human beings. Thank you. In this world, it’s just good to see goodness in the world.
I can see how difficult must be to try to make sense in a minds that doesn’t help. That helps me to understand my husband 76 with this horrible illness . It is painful to watch and to listen. God bless you all !!
You can tell he really cares and loves his kids it's heart warming Dan I wish my dad was still around he passed in 2009 I will never get through it. Your time is so precious with your dad. 💜
Dan I commend you for allowing your Dad to live in his reality by answering appropriately to his needs at any given time. It’s are tough gig looking after your parent with memory loss but also comes with rewards. That little glimmer, smile and satisfaction that you listen and not dismiss his questions is reward for you both. I was an aged carer and all my clients had dementia, it was tough but also rewarding when each of them at different times would say thank you or I’m sorry for pulling your hair, those moments I appreciated. Also it’s clear family are his main priority and he cares for you all, bless him🤗
This is a family unit I'd happily be a member of. Dan, thank you for being such a wonderful son. During his struggles and the easier times, Grandpa Ed always wants everyone to be okay. God bless you all ❤🙏❤️
Dan, thank you for being the kind, caring, patient son that you are. It is not always easy for caregivers. You handle it well. Wish more of us can and will be like you and family caring for someone with Dementia.
You guys are so very lucky to have a father who always has his family in mind. Even if that mind gets a bit confused sometimes, family is ALWAYS first with Ed. Makes me a little teary sometimes, but its happy tears! :)
I can't. I just can't. He is so sweet. All he wants in his old age is to make sure all his kids are OK. So universal. Ageless. All we ever want. Thank you so much for sharing!!
Dan,you handled the conversation exceptionally well. You gave your Dad time to think through his thoughts and the physicians always told us this. It's good you helped him feel best about his family!
It's awesome that even though he has dementia and is absolutely wonderful for 91 years of age, you are an amazing loving son and your father is clearly loved by many. My own father went through alot of absolute fear from nowhere, his eyes would glaze over, then suddenly could see the fear come into them when he clearly didn't recognise me or anybody. It was so terrible to witness and try to get him through it. I wish they could find a cure for this terrible disease, it effects people in many different ways, but the outcome is still the same. 😢
The first part sounded like a news story he was bringing up. Second part I knew immediately what he was asking about Mark's virus, because we've been watching Danielle's videos✌🏽 Keep fighting Doctor Ed, we're with ya!💞
It’s hard to watch but these are things we need to see in order to better understand. It’s great to see how you honor his dignity by telling him it’s his choice even though you know he has no choice. You can see that matters to him just by his expressions. You and your wife are doing a wonderful job.
he seems like hes happy most of the time, thats great that he still looks out for the famiy and asks about his kids, also the fact that he can still get around and walk on his own. You guys are doing a remarkable job keeping him at home and not couped up in a nursing facility. I give you great KOODOS for that. dont understand how anyone could criticize you or your wife. You two are amazing!
You have patience and kindness to help your father get thru those difficult times and his daily memory loss, it’s not easy having to tell him multiple times and it’s got to be wearing on the family but you having him comfortable, safe and loved is all an aging parent can ask for. This is just a glimpse into your day shows us that putting your Dad at ease is most important. Thank you again for starting this channel, it shows us also that compassion and care in all of our families is needed.❤
Reminds me of my nana. How the progression of the disease affects speech. She was the same though, always wanting to know we were all ok. Although her obsession wasn't about keys or wallets, she would constantly ask when the babies were due, and check if we were pregnant. It became a family joke, I already had my 4 and my sis had one. The last time we saw my nana (unknow to me at the time) my sister whispered in her ear before we left that she was pregnant. Finally nana would have been right to talk about babies being born...she died 15 days later😢. I love watching your videos, as a nurse, I love how you keep grandad as independent and mobile as you can, it's so important. You are all doing an amazing job and I hope the US has lots of resources and help for you as carers. Much love from the UK

The most important concern for Grandpa is to know that his kids are happy. He is a great and respectfull father. God bless him and all the family. Many greetings from Greece.
I go through this with my grandfather. Let me tell you it is no easy walk in the park. But it’s a true blessing to see them come out of it at the end . God blesss and take care everyone. ❤
Times get hard but times are good A lot of times misunderstood, but in his mind and his heart the love for his family will never part. Always love and prayers for you Grandpa. And family. 🙏❤️❤️🙏
You are a good son ❤ I love sweet Grandpa, such a caring man. I'm starting to see some signs in my Dad and my heart hurts. God bless you all for all you do to help Grandpa. I appreciate you sharing, even the hard stuff. Big hugs to you all ❤
You have a way with your Dad that seems to always calm him, even if it’s only for a moment or two. Much respect from a retired nurse, who then went on to do private duty nursing with the elderly. It takes a lot of patience from a hired caregiver but we have limited hours. You guys do this full time and I love how you guys love family❤. Tfs
Dan you’re blessed. I really identify with his continued desire for his kids to be well. You seem to know instinctively what to say. A testament to your relationship with him. ❤
He loves and worries about his family all the time. He is the most caring and gentle soul. Thanks for treating him with love and patience. Grandpa is so loved by so many❤️
Dan as parent yourself we all worry about our kids!!! But as we get older it is our only concern. These videos are helping me learn what to do and how to care for my father who turned 80 this year. His memory is starting to cause a few issues mostly he gets frustrated with forgetting things. He gets angry when he can’t get technology to work. Passwords on his phone are a daily problem. He is still doing pretty well yet I know it’s going to be getting worse and watching these videos reassure me that it’s going to be okay. Thanks for sharing these videos it’s really helpful for so many of us who are just starting to have a parent who needs help. I hope all is well and that your father is happy. ✌️💚🖖
Oh my gosh. What a sweet man concerned about his kids. You are so good and patient with him. Thank you for sharing him with us. I miss my dad so much. 😢
So nice how he becomes happy n just reassured all his family is well n doing okay it's like the most important thing to hear that n how he comes around quick when he knows there's nothing to worry about. Great father and son .

You are an absolute gem with your Dad, I know how difficult it can be, I look after my 92 year old Dad with dementia and my Mum with advanced Parkinson's disease, so I know it's not easy at all.
It's so hard watching him struggle to find the words, and then when they don't make sense it's even more difficult. You are SO GOOD at appropriate response. Thank you for sharing. 💙
I love that he still wants to make plans and be of use. We should all take that example. When you don’t know how old you are, you can be as young as you feel.
What a sweet man and it is clear he loves his children. He may forget many things but not his love for his family. God bless you and Mark for taking care of your Dad.

I think besides Loving Grandpa Ed...😊...I watch these video's because I look back at when I cared for my Dad and these bring back so many memories for me. Dan you are an absolute blessing! Grandpa Ed is in good hands. I admire you, Danielle and Mark for the inspiration you all give so many people that are caring for a loved one or a person who has this terrible Disease Dementia.🙏❤❤
You can tell Pops has always cared about his family...and he raised some fine boys
Oh Dan....we love your Father more and more...God Bless him and you
The most important concern for Grandpa is to know that his kids are happy. He is a great and respectfull father. God bless him and all the family. Many greetings from Greece.
I go through this with my grandfather. Let me tell you it is no easy walk in the park. But it’s a true blessing to see them come out of it at the end .
God blesss and take care everyone. ❤
It’s beautiful to hear Dan have the patience he needs❤️ I have noticed Dad hears Danielle better❤️ I think it’s in her Tone ❤️
Times get hard but times are good A lot of times misunderstood, but in his mind and his heart the love for his family will never part.
Always love and prayers for you Grandpa. And family. 🙏❤️❤️🙏
Oh dear he's such a sweetheart. God bless you Dan for being so patient with him.
I love this man even in his confusion he loves his family an worry’s about them.🙏❤️
Awww 🥰. Bless his heart. He’s so adorable! Hugs 🤗
You are a good son ❤ I love sweet Grandpa, such a caring man. I'm starting to see some signs in my Dad and my heart hurts. God bless you all for all you do to help Grandpa. I appreciate you sharing, even the hard stuff. Big hugs to you all ❤
He’s a good man. Always worried about his kids. And he’s so happy when he hears they’re ok.
Your dad is awesome!!! And you and your family are superb examples of love in action everyday. Good bless all of you ❤
Thank you
He loves and worries about his family all the time. He is the most caring and gentle soul.
Thanks for treating him with love and patience. Grandpa is so loved by so many❤️
Dan as parent yourself we all worry about our kids!!! But as we get older it is our only concern. So selfless he is to only worry about his kids and what super great men you guys are .....we are taking care of our 90 old mother as well.....she thank GOD doesnt have dementia yet....but her hard of hearing is a probable chance.... Our Dad Died in 2016 at 85 and MAMA BEAR Still lives on farm by herself....we are there almost every Thursday through Sunday! Mama Bear is my Mother in law! But my Mother in my ❤❤
These videos are helping me learn what to do and how to care for my father who turned 80 this year. ✌️💚🖖
You can always steady his coarse. It’s wonderful. You are the Best Dan!

Bless his heart. Praying for all kids for strength, understanding, patience, and love for their Dad.
Grandpa Ed reminds me so much of my granddad. Sharp mind and always concerned about our welfare. Be blessed for taking care of him.
He is just fabulous and loves ❤️ all his children so much!
His heart was tickled with happiness to know that all his children are in a good place and doing well. Awww ❤❤❤
Well done Dan ..I love how you give grandpa authority over his decisions to ease his mind. Fantastic 👏👏👏🙏🙏
It's so hard watching him struggle to find the words, and then when they don't make sense it's even more difficult. You are SO GOOD at appropriate response. Thank you for sharing. 💙
Grandpa has to be the best father that I have ever experienced! I was not so lucky in life Dan. You are SO blessed!!!!
I love that he still wants to make plans and be of use. We should all take that example. When you don’t know how old you are, you can be as young as you feel.
Dan, you took your time and listened. And Dr Salinger was able to tell you his concerns. And you succinctly , eased his anxieties. Well done.
What a sweet man and it is clear he loves his children. He may forget many things but not his love for his family. God bless you and Mark for taking care of your Dad.
