      @@Teacher-Val Of curse, I try to apply some productive and more communicative activities for example role plays, listen and draw or do during classroom medium and young learners like them. But sometimes I cannot find enought activity for out of class and also English is a foreign language in my country so learners cannot make enough language practice with naurel way. Thank you

    Teacher Val. I'm a teacher of English in Thailand. I'm a Belgian national. I'm wondering how were you able to land a job in China since you're not a native speaker, as the law of China requires?
    I don't mean to be disrespectful in any way because your pronunciation is flawless and your creativity is of an immense value, I myself visit youf channel for ideas.
    I'm curious because I would like to teach in China. Maybe I'm missing something... I will appreciate your answer.
    Once again, thank you for your craetive hard work teacher Val.

      Hi Stan! I came to China in 2002 so my story is not a usual one. Yes, it's possible to get a teaching job in China as a non-native speaker, but it might depend on various factors such as your English proficiency, qualifications, teaching experience, and the specific requirements of the school or institution you're applying to. You need to do a little research. If you have more questions, please write to me at valerijusc@hotmail.com

      @@Teacher-Val thank you, for your kind answer. I will for sure research more.
      Other than that I've heard it's possible to find a job in more rural areas of China, even if you're not a native. Although the salary will be much lower and the police can still chase after you.
      My English proficiency level is around C1-C2. Although speaking is still not as fluent as it should be. So there is still a lot of room for improvement. I'm trying to talk more to native speakers.

    • @Teacher-Val
      @Teacher-Val  Před 18 dny +1

      @@stanfarshtei1291 Your information is outdated. Many non-native ESL teachers work in first-tier cities in China. Again, your employment depends on many factors, such as your qualifications, English proficiency, and teaching experience. The police will "chase after you" only if you do something illegally. 😉

      @@Teacher-Val I read somewhere that one must either have: one of the following nationalities - USA, GB, Canada, Ireland, Australia, New-Zealand or South-Africa, or have studied at a university in one of those countries for at least 3 years and have attained a bachelor's diploma in English language and/or literature, in order to teach English in China. Otherwise you're not legally allowed to teach English. Every Facebook group I follow for English teachers in China is full of vacancies for native speakers. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places, teacher Val? I've heard about a lot of illegal employment though, although with the risk of deportation. I'm staying in Thailand currently, and am not a qualified teacher. International schools in Thailand pay decent salaries. But those schools hire only qualified teachers and mostly natives only. Since I'm not a native speaker nor am I a qualified teacher all I can count on is a position in a decent private school at most or a position in a public school.
      I would love to relocate to China as I'm trying to constantly develop and improve in terms of my teaching skills and overall proficiency in the English language. Currently my CEFR level is around C1-C2. But, I still struggle to speak as a native. I have subscribed to the ENGin platform, a website where you get paired with a native speaker and can talk for an hour every week for 6 months. I also have a friend from Australia who is willing to work with me on the improvement of my English speaking skill. Anyway, sorry for such a long answer. Thank you for everything you do, teacher Val!!
