This is one of the BEST presentations of proper lesson planning I have seen in my 16 years in this profession. An excellent explanation of not just how, but WHY. Well done!!👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you very much, Hilary! Your comment means a lot to me. Seriously. ❤I am actually working on a video that will show the process of turning theory into practice. I will go through each element of my lesson plan and show how the written word comes to life through various games and activities in a real classroom. The point is to show that lesson plans help you "see" the lesson before it happens.
Fantastic - can't wait! Thank you!
Please make more practical videos on lesson planning. Thanks in advance.
Hi Jawad! What do you mean by "more practical"? :)
@@Teacher-Val Sorry for the misunderstanding; by practical, I meant that when you describe the steps and process of lesson planning, it would be great if you could also demonstrate it inside the class while applying each step. Thank you so much for your attention!

As a Tech-Edu, we appreciate your insightful video on lesson planning and preparation. It's crucial to understand the benefits of a well-planned lesson. By organizing your thoughts and objectives in advance, you can ensure a smoother teaching experience and enhance student engagement.
Starting with the question of why plan and prepare, you provide four compelling reasons, and we completely agree. A planned lesson allows for clear learning objectives, helps maintain focus and structure, promotes effective time management, and enables seamless assessment.
Your lesson planning process is comprehensive and well-structured. We particularly appreciate your emphasis on lesson objectives, target language, lesson procedures, assessment methods, and lesson reflections. These elements ensure that the lesson is purposeful, engaging, and adaptable to students' needs.
We would love to learn more about your personal experiences with lesson planning. Have you faced any challenges or discovered unique techniques that have enhanced your planning process? How do you incorporate differentiation and student-centered approaches into your lesson plans?
Thank you for your feedback! I don't think I use "unique" techniques when I plan my lessons. I always start with lesson objectives or goals and include the target language. Most of my classes for primary school include two sentences (one simple and one complex) that cater to my weak and strong students. Also, I try to gear my scaffold towards the dialogue utilizing pair work or group work so students can practice the target language at the end of my class.
Thanks a lot of course we need ways of assessment
Thanks for letting me know!
Thanks Teacher Val. I was getting angsty about the fact I'm nearly at the writing of a lesson plan stage of the ESL course I'm studying. It is now much clearer about what I need to do for my own lesson plan. Thanks again for the pandatastic advice. 🐼🐼
Hi Sophie! Thank you! "Pandatastic advice". Haha. You must be a big fan of pandas. Where are you from?
@@Teacher-Val Hi Teacher Val. I adore pandas. Not sure if they can help with my eventual teaching. I'm based in the UK. 🐼🐼

Hello, Teacher Val! Thank you very much for your useful videos!!! Could, you, tell, please, how did you pick captains if you picked them? I think you picked the stongest students, didn't you?Did the students pick the captains?
Yes, I usually pick the strongest students as captains.

How to deal with the didactique 😊
What do you mean by "didactique"?
Hello teacher Val. Could you share me assessment lesson? Thank you.
What kind of assessment lesson? :)
@@Teacher-Val Well I mean assessment tools.
I have 2 questions:1- what do you mean by target language?
2- what do you mean by teach your students not your lesson plan?
1) Target language means the language your students need to learn by the end of your class (vocabulary, sentences, dialogue, etc.)
2) It means that you, as a teacher, need to focus on your students. If you see that something doesn't work, change it to meet your students' needs. Lesson plans are important because they are the road maps of what your students need to learn, but they are not holy books. They can be changed.
What do you mean by target language?
"Target language" is the language your students are aiming to acquire by the end of your lesson.
How to apply different forms of assessment
What do you mean?
Teacher Val, may I ask you that in case students never engage into my lesson, I mean she or he is passive and inactive but still listen to what I teach them...are there any ways to deal with this problem
In order to answer your question I need more information about your class. :)
Are you talking about one student or the whole class? What grade? How many students? What type of classes do you teach? Reading? Spoken? Writing? All-in-one?
@@Teacher-Val I am teaching grade 3, which is the speaking class. There are one or two students in my class hesitate to take part in my lesson, even though they listen to my PPT intentionally. When I ask them to give me the answer or involve into games...they are shy to join me, I guess they don't want to lose points from their team because I separate my class into two teams
@@bingotran8487 There is a silent period in language learning when language is learned silently without active participation or speaking. My advice is don't push these students. Let them be. Talk in a calm, quiet manner. Show a lot of support. Smile. Be patient. Ask them to draw pictures to convey the meaning if they don't feel like speaking. They'll come around. 🙂
@@Teacher-Val Thanks so much!
Hi, teacher Val. I really enjoy your videos. Can you make a video with the different methodologies to teach English in the classroom? :)
Hi Solari! Thank you very much!
What do you mean by 'methodologies'? ESL Methods and Approaches (Task-Based Approach, TPR, Communicative Approach, etc.)?
@@Teacher-Val exactly. I could see in the sample of the lesson plan in the section Methodology: "task-based approach" and I would like to know more about this and other approaches.
@@kartanineo I was thinking about making a video on various ESL approaches, but I fear it will be too boring to watch. 😂
@@Teacher-Val 🤓🤭 Maybe a little boring, but here you have a fan.
@@kartanineo Thank you! I appreciate your request. Where are you from? Are you a teacher?

Welcome to my channel! What kind of help do you need?
It seems like our lecturer doesn't accept the way you prepare a lesson plan. we are so suffered from him on that.
I am sorry to hear that. However, there are many ways to plan a lesson. I am sharing what works for me, but it is not a universal truth. 🙏
Yes summative and formative assessment
Thx
