    The Catholics have what is called the Examination of Conscience. It helps you review your actions and behavior according to the 10 commandments, for married persons, children, etc. it’s very good!

    These are excellent tips, Sherry 😊 I took a course by Karen Rodriguez called "Run Your House Like a Franchise" that has similar tips. It was revolutionary for my house, even with there being a majority of toddlers and babies here. I also like your 15 min cleaning advice. Fly Lady cleaning routine says the same thing.

    These are great tips! I love quiet time in our house! Thank you for the reminder. Sometimes life gets busy and our family gets out of doing these helpful things & it becomes chaos. You are a blessing!

    Gosh, I just ADORE your home! It's so warm and homey and inviting. It looks the way I'd envisioned as a little girl the way my "grown up house" would look. For as much as I like your usual background with the pretty print on the wall, this is just...gosh, it's just so beautiful! Thank you for sharing it!
    OK, swooning aside...I already do most of this but there are couple things that need improvement. Excellent advice, as always! Thank you!

    Thank you for another encouraging video. I sometimes get overwhelmed overhauling all the habits and feel frustrated when I can't keep them up. If you were to start with 1-3 habits, what do think would be the highest priority?

      1. Dishes, close kitchen after kids lay down for bed.
      2. Laundry Day and bedding on Thursdays
      3. Make each day a special chore....then at least once a week every room will get a special touch.
      4. Sweep after meals...give this job to children. As a rule give most jobs that are heavily caused by children to them as they are able. Mama has enough with dishes, meals, and a daily zone clean.
      5.Wipe the bathroom everytime you go in there. Swish and swipe.
      6. Take a morning walk with children for clarity.
      7. Spend the evening reading aloud to children.
      Those things have helped our home immensely.
      Love Sherry so much!

      1) Making the beds.
      Why? Because even if the rest of the bedroom is a mess, having the bed made makes it seem a wee bit less messy. Pulling back the covers at night to curl up in a nicely made bed feels so good, especially after a long day. Plus, it just looks nice. Doesn't have to be fancy, as Sherry said. Just needs to be made. Oh! And wash the bedding (the sheets and pillowcases) weekly! Blankets and pillows get washed, too, but less often. In our house, they get done every 3-6 months depending on what it is.
      2) Keeping the floors clean.
      Why? So it forces you to keep the floor tidy. No tripping over things, minimal things for babies or pets to find and try to eat, and no bits of crud sticking to your feet or socks. This means sweep and/or vacuum DAILY. It sounds daunting to some, but it really doesn't take all that long - especially if your house isn't huge. I grew up in a two-story Colonial with multiple bathrooms and hallways, yet we could get it all done in half an hour. A few extra minutes if we were feeling ambitious, and we vacuumed the stairs as well. Also, scrub/mop hard floors once a week. Not wearing shoes indoors helps tremendously. (I will never understand why some people wear their shoes indoors. Filthy. To each their own, I suppose.)
      3) Bathrooms.
      Why? Because bathrooms get gross if left unattended. Mold is no fun and soap scum and water stains can be a beast to get rid of if left to sit too long. I don't think this really needs a why... Wipe down the sink once a day. We choose to do this at night after everyone has brushed teeth. (Well, my children do in their bathroom...I don't follow my own rule in my bathroom 🫣 but it's a habit I am trying to get myself into.) Some people prefer cleaning the toilet weekly, others daily (Don't forget to clean the flusher handle doohickey!!). Wiping the shower down with a squeegee or old towel after every shower can help keep it looking clean. Spraying the shower/tub with a daily shower spray can help keep it clean. In addition to these tasks, scrubbing the shower/tub weekly keeps it nice. My biggest thing in keeping the bathrooms LOOKING clean is to keep it tidy. Utilize Dana K White's "Container Concept." Cabinets, shelves, trays, etc are all containers. Instead of having combs, lotions, cotton balls, makeup, whatever else just haphazardly on the counter or randomly shoved in drawers, make it look nice. If you need help figuring out how to best organize it all, Cass over at Clutterbug can help. (What kind of "Bug" are you? I am mostly a Cricket, but not always. Yes, you can be more than one.)
      Anyway, I hope this helps 😊

    So encouraging! I have a question though. With Quiet Hour, did you run into a problem of the 5 or so year old falling asleep during that time and then being wide awake until midnight??

    • @berrypatch5583
      @berrypatch5583 Před 10 dny +1

      Most children who need sleep, will sleep and sleep better later. Weirdly sleep begets better sleep later. Even our 7 year old falls asleep sometimes, but is ready for bed at the normal time. Best advice is tired children have difficulty falling asleep, rested children tend to rest well later.

    Hi Sherri my 12 yo son who will technically be "7th"grade this fall, needs alot of assistance in alot of areas and does not enjoy sit-down work much. We went very slow with all learning in the early years and now that we are here I see so much that he needs. He needs help in spelling at this age I'm not sure what he needs for a 12-year-old boy he spells okay but needs some more structure around it. Do you have any suggestions for that age for spelling? Also English, he needs more help with sentence structure and an overhaul in grammar and English come to think of it. Help my anxious heart!!

      Hi there. I’m a homeschooling mom of three for 14 years. For grammar, I’d suggest Rod and Staff grade 5. You can do all of it out loud. For spelling, if he’s solid on phonics, you can use an online spelling game such as Spelling City.

    • @erinsnook8537
      @erinsnook8537 Před 2 dny

      For sentence structure, start by having him copy 1-3 sentences a day from a well-written book. On the last day of your school week, read the sentences to him and have him write them down (without looking at them).
