This would make a great series but for other creators like Steve Ditko, Harvey Pekar, Wally Wood...

I loved Tom's Kirby comics on Instagram. I almost thought of them as a public service, given how insightful they were. Super excited to see the whole thing in print. Can't wait!

I'm so glad Tom is doing this! I'm a huge fan of several Kirby-esque guys, but there's something infinitely sweeter about Tom doing this - knowing that this is a project he's pouring every ounce of himself into.

I know I’ve repeated myself a few times with this sentiment but I fucking love how you guys talk business and don’t shy away from just straight talk. Congratulations Tom! Let’s hope all this fame Ed is promising still allows you to hang out on future episodes.

This is wonderful to see and here. Love the fact that Tom gets to tell the story he is meant to tell and probably most qualified to do.
I also love Ed’s natural tendency to look out for his brethren and share what he has learned. He seems to understand that you can’t keep knowledge unless you share it and you don’t get better by just “knowing”, but rather knowing AND doing/taking action. After all it’s #makemorecomix! Beautiful

Liked Scioli's attitude that even if it all fell apart on this thing, the journey was worth everything learnt doing it.

Tom's a cool dude (as a fellow long-hair, I salute you, sir!) who unsurprisingly knows his Kirby. So I'm sure he's aware of the article Stan Taylor wrote in The Jack Kirby Collector, "Spider-Man: The Case for Jack Kirby." We all know about Stan and Jack's spotty memories, which I always attributed to Jack’s claim of creating Spider-Man, but Mr. Taylor examined that claim not through what the Holy Trio have said about it, but through researching their past work and comparing it to not only Spidey's origin story but to the first several issues of the series. And his findings (which he himself wasn't expecting) was that the guy who'd done previous stories with the most corresponding elements-plots, powers, gadgetry, character traits and motivations, supporting characters, villains, you name it-was none other than the King. Yes, the series quickly evolved into a superhero soap opera that was purely Lee and Ditko, but during that first year when it was still finding its way? That, according to Taylor’s meticulous, unbiased research, had Jack’s fingerprints all over it. THWIP!

Love your guys’ channel since I discovered it, it’s opened my eyes to so many comics and so much history that I knew little to nothing about. Keep up the good work!

Ditko seems a fairly reliable narrator of the Spider-Man genesis. He wrote an essay in Robin Snyder's the Comics newsletter wherein he drew a sketch of his memory of Kirby's design and some of the reasons Kirby's version didn't make the cut. The essay was reprinted in an early issue of the new Alter Ego, but if you're a Ditko fan, Snyder and Ditko put out a thick (over 200 page) collection of Ditko comics and essays called Avenging World (not to be confused with the regular sized Ditko comic, though it does contain those comics pages). Lots of interesting and contrarian opinions on ownership and creativity... and Snyder's still out there, selling Ditko zines.
