The stake pockets aren't rated for load securement. You should run your chains through the rub rail around the rounds. A hard brake and those binders will tear those stake pockets off. Just friendly advice

That trailers stake pockets are load rated, it’s an ex melton trailer, the pockets are fully welded and rated at 5000lbs, I ran step deck for years and most of the time ran the binders off the stake pockets with zero issues. Little research would go along way before you guys start telling people they’re doing it wrong.
Yes; chains in the stake pockets, wrap around and hook chain back on itself. Binders only hook to chain on each end. Be safe!

Just wondering if you could video a couple of minutes of the storms that you go through, just so we can see the differences, like how often the lightning flashes and the size of the raindrops on the windshield.
Great job chaining. i did that haul before. I put chains around the side holds and racket to the chain instead hooking to the trailer.

Two hook up on trailer next one apart with same chain, load is a bit heavy for one stake pocket or use round ones. I always spread attachment on heavier loads

Becca, put your chains through the side rails then go end to end on the chain, that way you won’t be binding your ratchets on the trailer deck.

A little oil on those binders will make a big difference.
Don't use grease, it will cause problems.
You're going to ruin your stake pockets chaining that way. The right DOT Bear will write you up for using a damaged stake pocket and hooking your binder to one side of it.

When you unscrew the binders whichever way you are un-tightening then put the locker in the way. So when you un-tighten it the handle won’t be spinning around.. and also some states don’t allow you to cross chains and have them touch.. Oh and to get your chains from spinning stick the end of the pointy part of the bar in the big ring and let your bar lay on the trailer…

It always amazes me how many people comment on open deck loads and have almost no idea what they’re talking about, how many of you people have hauled cranes? 1.Cranes are super specific about where you can attach/ secure to 2. You have no idea what it weighs which is a big part of what you need to know to decide if it’s secured right. 3. Step deck trailers in general have load ratings for stake pockets usually 5000lbs and that’s an ex melton trailer which I know is load rated. I’ve run open deck for 10 years she’s not doing anything wrong or anything that half of you “do it this way” people don’t do yourself when no one’s looking.

Loads out west are 💩Best to draw a line from Chicago down to Dallas, Texas and stay east of that. If you look on Google Earth, the greenest part of the map is where you will run your tail off.

Another great video way to go. We are having storms here in Southern Middle Tennessee and my fur babies are all in my lap. Scared to death of them and befor the storms we had some A hole firing off fireworks Have a safe trip. I have 6 doggie. 5 Doxies and a schnauzer beagle mix

Word of wisdom. Never throw straps over the top of boom section. Through the bottom side is good. Over the top can damage the boom sections
