Great vid, ive bought a R75/5 and its has so much movement bearing you can see the wheel hub move when you rock the wheel

Sounds like it’s bearing time! not difficult. And generally the boxers don’t need much doing in general.

Thank you very much for your work ! I’m inheriting a 74’ R90S that will need this.

thanks so much for that, i watched a few vids and it was all about special pullers and fancy tools, nice to know its possible in the home workshop. one question, would overtightening /not torqued enough the wheel axel have any effect on the pre load?

Not especially. It all pulls up against the spacers. Under tightening might well give a false reading.

    Thanks for that effort.
On my 77 100/7 spoked a rubber ring came out of it. It’s #9 on the diagram. Do you know where that goes.

I’m not sure what you have there by way of a rubber ring. There are just rubber seals either side externally. On snowbums diagram #9 is the replacement steel shim. Which diagram?

      Thanks for the reply.
In your video at 2:29 when you put the inner ring on the axle what is the band on the outside on the centre of the inner ring. Is that the rubber ring which maybe acts as a spacer between the inner and outer metal sleeves. The shaft seal is #4 on my exploded diagram. #9 simply stated “ring”. The shim or wedding band is not labelled and on the exploded diagram sits between 9 and 6.
      Any thoughts?

Got it! On mine I think it was a metal band attached, I don’t recall it being a rubber ring. But part 9 goes on the outside of the inner spacer tube to hold it roughly in place, to make the wheel spindle easier to fit through.

Okay Nice thanks. From what I’ve learned I’m guessing your R100 is a pre 77 model. I’ve seen a few iterations of the central tube. Some of them have dual what I’ll call “inner tube positioning rings” . Anyway thanks again for posting the very concise vid. 😊
