    This should have been the IET Festival at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. To hear David in person is another dimension in understanding the mastery of an instrument.

      Hey David. This was initially the International Euphonium Institute from it's inception in 2003. I think it changed to the International Euph and Tuba (IET) Festival a year or so after this recording. I remember taking the survey to see if we should change the name! Thanks. Joel

      I play the euphonium too, for about the past eight years, and still can't play this piece of music this well and I have the sheet music on the stand in my practice room and try it out often but my valves don't move as fast as the valves on this player's $1300 euphonium!

    I played this in highschool for a competition on euphonium and used it not only to learn treble clef but also double and triple tongueing took me probably 6 months from start to finish but it was so well worth it

      I will say that in my opinion, for euph, Czardas is easiest to play in C Minor. Not sure what the original key is, but C Minor seems to be easiest; David is playing it in Bb in this video.

      i have it in the same key as his. thinking of i c would be very nice and fun to try it in, i believe its in Bb since that puts it in that pretty sounding euph spot

    This was just fantastic, and i love czarsas of Monti anyway. I listen to it in many versions, but never knew it was done on a tuba. GREAT, GREAT.

      Tim Sierra Technically the Euphonium is a tenor tuba but you are correct it is not a tuba.

    David Childs, What type of euphonium is it that you're playing in this video?! I've been playing euphonium since I was ten years old and I've never seen such a large euphonium! It looks more like a small tuba, but it still sounds great! Thanks for sharing this video with others!

      Hey I actually recorded this years ago in Atlanta. I think Dave was using a Besson BE2052 Prestige Series Compensating Euphonium Silver.

      @@JoelBurley It's a very nice instrument that I wish I could afford I priced it online and noticed they start for around $10,000; That's just way to rich for me!! I'll have to stick to my silver plated King euphonium! It plays fine for as old as it is! Thanks for replying to my last message.

      On the high Gb you would normally play that 2+3. Whereas playing Gb with just 1 is out of tune. But he's going insanely fast that he can use 1 for Gb and no one is going to hear that it's out of tune because of the tempo.

    I heard the beginning of this piece on violin a while ago, wanted to learn it on euphonium, then listened to the rest of it and thought: 'Nope, this is not possible to play on euphonium.'
    And then I saw this video... 🙁 So it is possible, just not for me. 🤪
